A flavorful blend of fried rice with veggies, eggs, and choice of meats all mixed to perfection.

"On Wednesday, 30/11/22, three local middle-aged pescatarian men celebrated a birthday by going out for lunch at Madras, a Sri-Lankan/South Indian restaurant in Lewisham. They had been to the restaurant before when it was known as The Green Cabin. The restaurant had a few faded decorations and furniture, but the food was always tasty and reasonably priced. They arrived around 13:40 and found the restaurant nearly empty, so they chose a table by the window in the hopes of attracting more customers. The menu offered a mix of traditional Indian and South Indian dishes, and they decided to skip alcohol and order lassis instead. They were cautious about ordering too much due to the spiciness of the food. Throughout their meal, they noticed several delivery couriers coming in and out. A family arrived later on, but the restaurant remained relatively quiet. One of the men accidentally ordered a mixed Thali, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise with a variety of delicious vegetarian dishes. They also ordered a Mutton Masala Dosai and some side dishes to share. The food was spicy but delicious, and they managed to finish everything without needing a doggy bag. The bill came to a reasonable £50.90, and they left a £5 tip before heading out into the streets of Lewisham, happy and satisfied."

"The Ambiance: Totally cute like you’re stepping onto the set of Wes Anderson’s The Darjeeling Limited. The Staff: Welcoming and friendly without being overly ‘present’ (eek those places where like five servers are staring at you from the wings…it doesn’t happen here! . The Food: Very tasty! They serve all the usual suspects (curry, jalfrezi, biriyani, et all along with specialties from various regions. My only mild critique is the small size of the naan; for £2.95 it should have been a bit bigger. However, it was super tasty! Would I eat here again? oh yeah! Very delightful food!"

"Ordered takeaway for the very first time from them and came after hours late. We called them asking for a refund. They agreed and said to expect the refund after days later. Waited and the money was never refunded. So i called them...again, their respond was simply rude. Whoever picked up my call said oh we don't deal the with money, u have to contact JustEat They could have told me the process of handling the refund progress earlier rather than admitting to give the refund by themselves!!!! Such a pain in the neck. Never i will order again from here nor recommend to others. Disappointed!"

"I was so pleased at how quickly they delivered and the staff taking the order. However, I now know why! They can surely not be doing very much business as the food was swimming in sauce. There was only 7 bits of meat (small as well! In each of the items I ordered (lamb Goan and chicken balti . The sauce was fine, and that's just it! FINE! BUT, the meat on the lamb was covered in salt. I have not tried the chicken yet but I imagine it will be the same. Then there is the rice (pilau . Poor quality is an under statement. Not what I would expect for basmati rice. I know as I lived in Hong Kong for over 25 years and rice is my form of carbs. We had many Indian restaurants out there and as it was back then, part of the british empire. Hence, the not adapted to UK standards. A true Indian (one of my school friends would not consider it good. This meal cost me £16.70! I would have better spent my money on a ding, ding microwave meal on one of Tesco's finest curry meals ,(also, not that great either but value wise would have been a better option . Please do not confuse this place (takeaway to the old Gandhi Restaurant which used to be in Cosham High Street. It was very good when I used to go there but it has since closed. A"

"Our experience at Papa's Wok was very positive. We appreciated the variety of meat and vegetarian options available. The veg spring rolls we ordered were tasty and we received an extra one, which was a nice surprise. The chicken dish we tried was delicious, with the chicken tooan standing out for its flavor compared to the dragon chicken. The gobi manchurian and stirring vegetables were both well-seasoned and enjoyable. We also tried the sweet and chili and garlic rice, both of which came in a box. The chili and garlic rice was tasty but not as spicy as expected. However, the plant noodles were disappointing as they lacked flavor and were quite bland. The portion sizes of the big box were generous and we were impressed by the amount of food. Overall, we had a great dining experience at Papa's Wok and would definitely order from them again."

"Where to start. It’s probably best to look at the photos tbh. The ‘poppadoms and pickle tray’ was this abomination of a poppadom. Minus a pickle tray. The bhatooray (naan) was a laughable mess of half cooked whatever. The dried beef….well. Extra naan didn’t turn up. The food arrived half cold. This entire tray of food was £56. No doubt there will be a reply saying ‘we’re sorry you didn’t enjoy your food blah blah blah’ but sending this shambles out for £56 is a joke. Basically, go somewhere else."

"When the snow is blowing in your face I think ive just improved a Dylan song)....and you want to get out of the cold ,you could do worse than the Everest Spice bar.I watched the football on a large screen and ate chicken momo , chilli wings and pani puri .With a beer and chasers it was about 20 quid. Good warm Gurkha hospitality and fare.Snow in March? Gurkhas? Were you mountaineering in the Himalayas? I hear you say...... No,Dear Reader, I was shopping in Cheriton high street having just backed Liverpool to win."

"We ordered Palak Paneer, butter chicken and lamb tikka from here to the holiday inn express we were staying at. The Palak paneer was in a yellow sauce .. shocking but worse was that it was SWEET like sweetest custard sauce. When we called they were like oh you should have told us you don’t want sugar. Being Indian , living in London, I’ve eaten Palak paneer in hundreds of places all over the world NEVER have I ever seen it served in yellow custard sauce. Then they resent it ..the SAME Sugary Palak paneer with tons of chili . Completely in edible. An Indian reataurant that can’t serve basic dish like Saag Paneer should be shut down . Butter chicken is always in a sweetish sauce but this was laden with sugar. I don’t know what their obsession is with sugar ?? ??? Worst Dinner ever!!"

"This is such a mixed bag review and really hope that the owners of this restaurant read this as it is really important for basic customer service. We had a table of 6 booked for 9pm, as much as I know this is late they were very willing to take our booking. We arrived and said that we had a booking and this young woman huffed and puffed at us. I thought there and then this isn’t going to work out too well! She showed us to the table and literally chucked the menus to the middle of the table. We couldn’t be any more of an inconvenience to her. Two of our friends were going to be 10 minutes late and let her know, as you can imagine this went down like a sack of spuds! She said that the rest of us should order and they can order when they arrive. We decided to go with the Hong Kong set menu. Our friends arrived at 21:08 and told them that they can only order a main, no starter. I we were out to celebrate my husband’s birthday so really didn’t want to make a fuss as only felt it would fall on deaf ears. As our friends didn’t want to make a fuss either they just went along with it and she stood over them the whole time until they ordered. Our starters arrived and they are huge portions, so could easily share with our friends that were late, but their main came out at the same time. It was so frustrating. The food is absolutely beautiful, but the service completely spoiled it for us. I am so shocked that we were treated like that. The only reprieve we had was another young waiter and he was really good and made sure that we got drinks throughout the time we were there. We have been to the taipan on many occasions and never had such awful service, it really is such a shame."

"I ordered a chicken and mushroom curry and a vegan chicken curry. I asked for mushrooms to be added to the vegan curry as it doesn 't come with as standard. Sometimes the mushrooms are added and sometimes they aren 't, and on this occasion, one curry came with mushrooms and one didn 't, so I assumed that the curry without mushrooms was vegan. Also the tubs had no marking on them to indicate which was which and they actually look the same. I assumed wrong, I consumed real chicken. Congrats on making such a great chicken alternative that it took a few chunks for me to realise that what I was eating wasn 't fake. I 'm furious and very upset that this has happened. A simple 'V ' on the tub would 've been sufficient. Needless to say, I won 't be ordering from here again, which is a shame due to their fantastic meat alternatives"

"It can be quite hard to find a quick, inexpensive hot meal in central London, unless you want a burger or fried chicken. Sam's Express, situated 3 minutes walk North of High Holborn could be the answer. They have a very short menu basically chicken, beef, king prawn, duck or veggies prepared in a small number of ways. Nothing costs more than £7.50 (or £6.50 after 4pm they are open until 8pm weekdays, but closed at weekends), and the price includes 4 spring rolls and a cold non alcoholic drink. There are two communal tables and a small high stool area on one side. I had the chicken with spring onion and ginger with steamed rice you can opt instead for noodles or egg fried rice. It was quickly cooked and tasted great. This is typical no frills Chinese food served in a small cafe at great prices what's not to like?"

"Cannot fault the food, it was simply outstanding, in every way, and delivered 15 minutes ahead of schedule and piping hot. Beautiful selection of dishes that were definitely outside the usual Indian choice you will not be disappointed. If you used this place under the old management, try it again as the Bokhara, it’s leagues apart, so much better. Loved every mouthful Service: Delivery"

"I normally only get maybe 1 3 takeaways a month. Also, I’ve been trying to find a good Chinese takeaway in my area for a while but so many have mixed reviews and my local has gone downhill recently So we got a Money Tree menu through the door and decided to risk it...I got won tons 12 for £4 is a bargain! duck in mushroom, special friend rice and prawn crackers. I was not disappointed at all...I was told on the phone it’s be there in 30 mins and it arrives in 20...and was piping hot and fresh. The won tons were lovely good flavour and crispy...I think they had pork and tiny prawns ? in them, and came with sweet and sour sauce. We got two lots of prawn crackers...I guessed one was free but at least we know now they do free prawn crackers with orders. The duck was cooked really beautifully, the sauce had a good, savoury flavour, and my goodness the rice was perfect...not at all greasy, fried so the rains of rice had a good “bite” to them as friend rice should, and the different meats in the rice had good, seperate flavour...so often mixed fried rice has a taste where all the seperate flavours have just mixed together? No...this one the chicken pieces were tender and had a good chicken flavour, the prawns were a good size and the pork was tasty and not fatty. It was so good we ordered again the following night, which is something I never normally do!! They said it’d be 30 40 mins and it arrived in about 30, piping hot again. We got won tons, crab claws, special fried rice and a king prawn dish. Again the won tons and rice were perfect, free prawn crackers were included. Crab claws were as expected, nice surimi product, cooked nice and crispy and served with a nice sweet chilli sauce in a seperate container, and the king prawn dish was SO GOOD...prawns were very large, got lots of them in the dish and they were cooked to perfected and tasted really good. My only areas of nitpicky criticism are: Sweet and sour sauce was missing the second night, we were accidentally given two pots of sweet chilli sauce. But I like spicy food so it didn’t bother me. The pieces of pork in the rice has a teeny bit of red colour but no proper char siu flavour evident. I love char siu so a stronger flavour on the pork pieces would be to my preference All dishes on the menu appear to be westernised palette style Chinese food and not authentic Chinese food. These chefs can clearly cook!! So it’d be nice if they offered some authentic options. There is a braised tofu dish on the menu which I will order next time. ...and because I’m nitpicking I still don’t think tags enough to lower my rating from 5 to 4...this takeaway is great and I’ll definitely be ordering again."
