"Booked a table for Sunday lunch, arrived to a small table by the toilets. Half the pub is jolly families out for lunch, the other half is dead eyed old geezers staring into an afternoon pint. We were in the old geezer half. We ordered roast lamb £17 each) and then waited, and waited... and waited. We gave it about an hour before asking when our food would arrive, the stressed waiter explained that they were very busy but that it wouldn't be long. We waited another 45 mins before asking again at the bar no one updated us as to what was going on). The lady behind the bar said that our food would be 6 minutes... While we waited for another 15 minutes someone on the table next to us was making a complaint about the portions being very small and the food not being good. The waiting staff didn't know what to say to her. Alarm bells were ringing that when our food arrived it was not going to be good. When the plates eventually turned up they were very small portions, a single piece of meat and a small pile of vegetables. A normal sized Yorkshire pudding was about 3/4 of the total meal. We decided that we had reached the end of our patience and decided to reject the food and leave the pub, thankfully we hadn't paid yet and so didn't have to go through the fuss of a refund. The staff were apologetic once we decided to leave, but it was too little too late. I felt sorry for them because management had obviously hung them out to dry with not enough staff and not enough food to go round."

"Thursday 19th May 2022, my husband and I woke up to a hot and sunny day, so we decided to go out for the day to visit Yarborough House Books in the Shropshire town of Bishops Castle. My husband and I strolled round this pretty town taking lots of photographs of it its interesting buildings. We worked out way up the High Street to the top where we went to visit Yarborough House Books. My husband and I entered within and we mooched round the bookshelves. I did not find anything but my husband found another volume to his Oxford History of England Series, he purchased the book on ‘The Earlier Tudors’ By J.D. Mackie for the bargain price of six pounds, so he was very pleased. Yarborough House Bookshop also has a large stock of second hand classical recordings, which comprises around 4,000 CDs, with a particular emphasis on unusual repertoire, British and 20th century music including opera. The bookshop also has a small café attached, so after mooching round my husband and I indulged in a pot of tea and a latte coffee and a flapjack for my husband. Whilst I was there I found inspiration as I wrote a poem called ‘Home of The Fairy’. My husband and I also had the luxury to meet the owner Carol who moved from London over 40 years ago to start her bookshop in Bishops Castle, she was a very pleasant and warm lady. I read her the poem I had written and she asked me to send her a copy for the Bishops Castle website, I was very touched and honoured by this. If you like books and cakes then this is a nice place to visit if you are in the area."
