"I haven't been able to visit lower Charminster for a couple of years or so. I was very hungry early evening on Tuesday 17th August 2021 and I went that way to order a favourite of mine, which is a chicken korma curry at the...Curry Master. I was disappointed to find it closed. This turned into a lucky day! Roxy's Bistro Bar was open. I went in and I was overjoyed to see Roxy herself on duty. Years ago I was a regular at Roxy's and virtually every time I went in Roxy was often working alone. I always enjoyed the food and a few pints of Becks. I mentioned to Roxy that my favourite pint is a Guinness. Much to my delight Roxy took note and announced on my next visit that canned Guinness with a widget inside was now on the drinks menu. It was delicious surprise from a can. Roxy has upstaged this can since then. Now another type of can is available. The Guinness is first poured into a glass and then placed on what appears to be an ultrasonic plate for a period of time. The result is as if it was poured from the traditional nitrogen gas hand pump. It's so close, it's not worth mentioning the subtle difference. I mentioned to Roxy I was starving and I would like to see the menu. Bless Roxy for remembering my preference for meat and fries. I went for Roxy's suggestion of a Today's Special of BBQ ribs with fries. The fries were unlike any I have had before, they were not out of fat frier for sure. They were delicious! The meat on the ribs was succulent and melted in my mouth with a wonderful tasting glazed sauce as a compliment. I enjoyed the fries even more when I dipped them in a pot of sauce which accompanied the me. No surprises for getting a great drink and a meal. What was really great is to find Roxy is back in her Bistro after taking a break from the restaurant to bring two lovely girls into the world. I recommended the Bistro years ago and I endorse the Bistro today. Do pop in and see for yourself. If you have a favourite and it's not on the menu mention it to Roxy and perhaps you'll find it available next time you visit? WELCOME BACK ROXY!"

"We hadn't been to the Armenian Taverna for a few years. There is now some unattractive building work at the street level but once you go down to the restaurant it is as welcoming and atmospheric as we remember. I made particularly good choices of food this time. My borsch was a good warming starter for a cold Saturday evening and the Armenian goulash was excellent more reminiscent of a Lancashire hotpot than a Hungarian goulash but with rice! I really enjoyed my meal. My wife's meal was unremarkable and she was somewhat disappointed. Our meals were quite expensive, coming to £70.50 for two starters, two main courses, two beers and a bottle of sparking water."

"we were preordered online, but no table was reserved for us. that was terrible. we had a dry burger with nothing but the bungalow and the burger. fillings of any kind were extra. this came with a very small handful of almost cold chips that were edible but not hot. a wild old piece of pre-padded leaves accompanied this with half a piece of gurke and a piece of tomaten that had the gristly stalk left. the house wine tasted like vinegar. all in all a great disappointment. we will not be back."

"the second visit to this pub to stay overnight was not disappointed. excellent situation for the bus to york, cheaper and more relaxed to go to the bus that takes her car. the eating was great and the menu in the night was somewhat different than the normal pub bur, had special offers for the night. the rooms were comfortable, but they get a bit lärm when they leave the window open as it is on a busy road. a total worth a visit."

"Bloomsburys offers an incredible and serene dining experience, with comfortable seating and beautiful artifacts both inside and outside. We decided to visit on a sunny Saturday morning for breakfast and enjoyed sitting outside in the shade. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the staff was friendly and attentive. In addition to the restaurant, the venue also offers a Herbery, retreat, Spa, Glamping, and much more. They even have a few resident cats, which was a bonus for me, and they welcome dogs as well. Parking is available on the grounds. Overall, Bloomsburys is definitely worth a visit. Just make sure to check their opening days beforehand, but you won't be disappointed."

"I booked a table online for last Sunday at 1.30pm. Upon arrival the restaurant was very crowded with clearly a private function under way. We were led to a table.....after 10 minutes we asked a member of staff to estimate how long the food would take to arrive.....and told because of crowding and limited staff....would be about 45 minutes. This we found unacceptable and told staff that we would leave. I’m left with the question.....why was my online booking accepted?"

"Not the best experience. Joined for lunch and what we wanted to order was unavailable. We order a chicken toasted sandwich and ham, egg and chips. It took about 45 mins to an hour to come out. The sandwich come out first and it looked as if it had been thrown together and didn't look appetising. Had to wait another 10 minutes for the ham egg and chips to come. I still hadn't eaten the toasted hot sandwich as I wasn't given any cutlery or sauces (it was meant to come with mayo in the sandwich but it didn't and was dry I had to call another waitress over to ask for them and the other dish to come out. 5 minutes later the cutlery and sauces came, and so did the ham egg and chipa and the salt was in packets (ok fine! but then they were all empty (people had used them and put the empty pockets back in the tray . Couldn't be bothered to ask for more again. Ketchup was in a heinz bottle and as well as hellmans mayo... the ketchup defo wasn't heinz as it was watery and vinegary. I don't mind cheaper ketchup but it was more the principle of stating it was the premium stuff when it wasn't- this wouldn't be any good for people with potential allergies. Not sure if the mayo was actually hellmans (again more of allergy purposes . The waitress didnt ask if we had any allergies which i believe is now a legal requirement. A lot of other people also weren't getting the food they were wanting as it wasn't available and the waitresses didn't know what table was what and asking people what they had ordered. I still paid for the meals as I can see they are trying to run it as best as possible and I mentioned at the till this wasn't a good experience but before I return this does need to be rectified."

"disappoint. we only visited there over 2 years ago when we rented a holiday home in the village and had some nice meals there, but it has changed a lot. should we have recognized when we first arrived, as the man at the bar was very scary looking, unraveled unironed filthy shirt . I ordered suppe with brown brot when it appeared, it had white brot, but nothing was said, so I had to call the girl when she went to the left to ask if it was a mistake and got a teppich. the suppe proved to be unusable, it was so salty and the brotstall, so I sent it back and had to wait to be brought to me for an old menu. an alternative that was less than average, but at least edible. After our tellers were cleared, we were not offered the Dessert menu that we planned, so abandoned the bill and went to dessert elsewhere."

"The restaurant was quite pricey for a simple pub meal. I ordered lasagna with a salad and garlic bread, but instead received lasagna with peas—an unusual combination. To be fair, when my food was served, I was asked if I wanted a salad, but by then it was a bit too late. My partner’s mixed grill was made with poor-quality ingredients and was as tough as old boots. Our son enjoyed his fish and chips, though. We had made a reservation, but we were the only customers there. Without a doubt, we will be back, as there are much better dining options at similar prices just across the street."

"Excellent food, surroundings and service. I had lunch their with workmates on Tuesday. Lunch etc was so good I took my wife their for dinner on Wednesday night. We both had cheese burger then sticky toffee.... Nice presentation, hot and tasty. I have been numerous times at lunch time over the years with work mates. Always good."

"I was a bit disappointed with our festive meal, especially since we had enjoyed our previous visits. My wife’s prawn cocktail starter was quite subpar, although my mushroom starter was excellent. We both ordered turkey for the main course, which arrived pre-plated with vegetables, something that should have been served in individual dishes. The gravy had been poured over the meal beforehand, which was a significant mistake. The turkey itself was overcooked and the portion was quite small. For dessert, I received ice cream with my Christmas pudding instead of the custard I had ordered. Additionally, my wife explicitly requested no ice in her drink, yet it still came with ice. We were also seated next to a radiator that was off on this chilly day, leaving us cold throughout the meal. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning for their festive meal again."

"I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the vegan food was at this restaurant. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Although not all menu options were available, what we did try was delicious and reasonably priced. The venue is small, so it's a good idea to make a reservation. They do not have a liquor license, so you can bring your own alcohol without being charged corkage fees. I would definitely recommend this place."
