"Was the second time I had eaten here but had a lovely Sunday meal here last Sunday courtesy of Flatmate. Butcher and Grill (situated on the formersite of Cafe Rouge) occupies a great, imposing site. The Butchers shop welcomes you as you walk in- to the right a lovely array of meat and to the left a delicatessen/grocers selling a selection of organic produce. The split-level open plan restaurant is to the back. A heavily stocked bar located to the left, high ceilings and exposed brick work give the place a sophisticated yet homely feel. Flatmate and I, starving as ever, eyed the menu and decided to forgo the starters (pretty unexciting) and dive into the mains to stop ourselves drooling onto the table. We excitedly ordered plates of the rib eye steak. Sides as do the sauces, come separately so we ordered some green beans, mash, dauphinoise potatoes, mushrooms and green peppercorn and red wine sauces. Before I was about to chew Flatmates arm off it all came thick and fast and we were very excited. Meat looked good, potatoes looked good. Veg looked ok but mushrooms a side does not make. HmmmmAmyway, it was great. We loved the organic rib eye fantastic and flavoursome though a touch overdone. Nevermind we said, we were too hungry to care and i was upset when the last mouthful had gone. Flatmate pushed the boat out and ordered us puddings cheesecake and an apple thingy. In preparation, we had to unbutton the top of our jeans to make room. Can't remember but i think they were nice the steak just keeps coming back to me steak cheesecake? steak apple thingy? Not sure how much it all came up to as lovely Flatmate paid (thanks Nic). But it was a great hearty, winters meal perfect for a cold Sunday afternoon. P.S. The first time I came here I came with my Dad who wanted to order off the menu so we wandered down to the Butchers and he got the Butcher to cut him a hefty slab of rib eye must have weighed about a pound! Seriously my dad was eating long after mum and I had finished but he eventually did I was so proud and he was happily full!"

"We decided a night away was in order as we wanted to do Christmas shopping without fuss and it's been a long time since we've had a night away. So.. Checkin was fine. We received welcome pack detailing WiFi , checkout etc Then came time to go to our room, this is where the review starts. We were situated on the bottom floor, room or So we go through two security doors and to what feels like the hotels dirty secret as this was a small corridor tucked away at the rear next to a security door that made you jump from inside your room each time someone used it. So once inside the room we are greeted to a very pleasant, clean room with one major issue. Where is the view? Oh there isn't one. Instead we open the curtains to discover a red and black brick walled courtyard of sorts. Now I know a view isn't always a guarantee but I'll get to that So we drop in our bags and leave to do the last of our shopping and enjoy the time away from kids that we have we are back at hotel, back in the room and within mins we've heard security/fire door ft from ours slam shut multiple times. So I ask at reception and they are booked out, no other rooms available. OK Next morning after a not awful but not great night's sleep we leave early. I make a point if saying to front of house staff about door and heat of hotel as it was extremely warm but that's not a big deal. Only to be told that I should have asked for a different room. I did and was told you were booked solid So we paid nearly for a night in Glasgow, we had what my wife described as a dungeon bedroom, with no view and a near by door that would have woke the dead. Would we stay in this hotel again? Sadly no. The room we stayed in should not be used for guests paying ridiculous prices or anyone really I can't describe rest of hotel as we didn't go lurking I absolutely hate leaving a negative review on these things but we were just so disappointed. Hopefully this gets to the right people and it doesn't happen to anyone else Thank you Date of stay was"

"Before reading the review, if you do read it, please understand I have nothing to compare this 'experience ' to. For my wife and I this was our first fine dining experience. Don 't get me wrong, we 've been to some lovely places but have always paid about a quarter of the prices on this particular menu. Also, having never frequented anywhere as grand as a restaurant on the top of the Hilton Hotel, I was a little nervous as to how a regular everyday working man from Yorkshire would feel and would be treated. Any thoughts or fears were quashed immediately as we stepped out of the lift. We were greeted warmly, and being a little early, asked if we would like to have a drink first in the 10⁰ Bar adjacent. We took up the offer and that was also amazing, see separate review. From that very first step onto the top floor, to the step back into the lift, the staff were impeccable As we were shown to our table with a window view all staff acknowledged our passing with a smile and a hello. We truly felt like royalty. We ordered our drinks to start and then our main courses. We were considering the taster menu but wasn 't sure if we 'd manage 5 courses, the minimum. A good decision too as we were given some appetisers followed by a small bread selection before our mains arrived. We were asked many times if we needed anything else, drinks etc, but by no means was there any pressure to order. For my main I had Hogget, farced saddle, boulangere, wild garlic sheep’s curd with a side Pomme purée. It came presented, as you 'd expect, like a work of art. The taste was extraordinary. As said previous, I have never dined anywhere near as luxurious before, so I have nothing to compare it to, so I can 't. If asked if it was worth 4 or 5 times what I would normally pay for a main course, absolutely yes. An absolute delicious attack on your taste buds. My wife had Cornish cod A’la grenobloise, kohlrabi, sourdough. I can 't say how nice she found it, I know she did, she really enjoyed it and, again, came presented extremely well. For dessert I had Poire William, Jivara chocolate, eau de vie, mascarpone. This was presented, again, amazingly well and was a ball of ice cream, encased in another ball of ice cream surrounded by a shell of 'something ' topped with a wafer, cream and gold leaf. My wife had Duck egg custard tart, Yorkshire rhubarb, lemon balm. Yes, it was an egg Custard really fancilly presented but tasted like no other egg Custard before. All in all an absolutely fantastic 2hrs. There 's a 15% service charge added but I added more myself. Without hesitation and without doubt would I would recommend Galvinatwindows.com? Absolutely"
