"My son and I, aged 12, decided to treat ourselves before he started high school. We made a reservation online, which was straightforward. Upon arrival, the restaurant was not busy, but we had to wait for over 5 minutes before we were assisted by a young lady. She was not impolite, but she didn't seem very cheerful either. Fortunately, a different server took care of us during our meal. He was friendly, made great recommendations, and provided efficient service. The food was delicious - my son thoroughly enjoyed his salmon with teriyaki sauce, giving it a 5-star rating. My duck was cooked to medium and was tasty, although slightly chewy. We had a few glasses of wine, and the total bill came to just under £90 for the both of us. In my opinion, it was a bit on the expensive side, but it was a nice treat for a special occasion."

"I visited this place at lunchtime with a friend who lives in Hull, so she recommended it. There was seating inside, as well as some outside on the street. It had a nice relaxed atmosphere, with piano music playing. We were told we could order by the app, which allows 10% off the bill. Or we could order at the bar. We decided it would be easier and quicker for us to order at the bar. But we were met by a very unwelcoming guy who told us that he didn’t have time to take our order, as he was far too busy. So our only option was the app! Not the best customer service, but anyway we ordered by the app which was fairly straight forward. The food was very nice and we had a lovely relaxing catch up. I would definitely recommend this place also visit again. Despite the stressed out moody barman, the rest of the staff were lovely the service was excellent."

"Well, I was staying away from home due to work and found this Indian restaurant (I do love Curries so looked out for one). Yes, the girl taking orders (I presume the owner's daughter) was friendly and very helpful, and the service was quick, probably...because there weren't many people in there, but that did surprise me because it was Saturday night. Upon arrival, I sat down and disappeared into the chair (no springs moved to another seat only slightly better. Had poppadoms, tasted awful but they came out after around seconds so maybe they were yesterday's? Chutney, mint yogurt etc were the worst I've had, very bland, even the onion was watery and tasteless. I wondered how good the main would be. Omg, I hate to say this but it was honestly the worst curry I have ever tasted and I was very disappointed. As other reviews have said, it was dry chewy chicken chunks in a paste. I ate half of it and just wanted to get out of there in the end, got the bill then suddenly they had a power cut! Lights kept flashing on and off as the owner repeatedly kept resetting the breaker which just kept tripping out. The card reader for payment stopped working so I was stuck. After mins the owner brought out candles! Somebody in the restaurant offered to help the owner, and after mins got the lights on. (I hope he was rewarded with a discount but I doubt it very much I eventually paid but they wanted the itemised receipt they gave me after I paid, but I needed it for work, but eventually sorted it (they let me have the last cm of the receipt I left the run down front porch area with two doors, couldn't close the first door, it wouldn't shut. Then the owner just slammed it behind me and it shut, which I thought was a bit rude as I was still there in the porch looking at him! I went through the second door onto the street and the door handle came off in my hand along with that long rod bit as well. Then the Indian owner came running out and took it from me. I couldn't stop laughing all the way home. Will I go back? Absolutely not!"

"Took a while for staff to come over and serve us. However once we caught their attention, the waitress was helpful with our order. They have an offer on for starters and a cocktail pitcher. The space is cosy, warm and welcoming and ideal for a catch up with friends. Only table service is allowed and cannot order at the bar due to COVID restrictions. Staff wore masks and seating was socially distanced."

"I watched one staff member hand-tossing dough, then answer the phone and return to hand-tossing dough without washing his hands. Meanwhile, another employee was putting dough onto a pizza dish and coughed without covering his mouth. Another employee entered the store. As he walked past, there was a very strong stretch of body odor. He dunked his hands in what appeared to be be a bowl of water, wiped his hands dry on his T-shirt and went to work rolling out and hand-tossing dough. No one was wearing masks, gloves, or hair nets. This particular facility has a #2 health rating. I'd hate to see a #3. And the pizza? Meh."

"Its two years since I last visited here for breakfast. It remains a cracking good place to eat. There is a full and varied breakfast menu. The coffee is good, better than one from the standard chains. Service is good, speedy and staff are very pleasant. Pleasant atmosphere. Staff are a bit distant, but good at what they do. Will call in again when I'm in Braintree next year"

"This is mine and my mum’s absolute go to restaurant before a show in Edinburgh. Without fail this is where we end up at the start of our night. Great prices, food and staff – I cannot recommend this place enough. Last time we had the pre theatre menu and everything was delicious and served very promptly. I started off with the fried Camembert which was delicious and just melted in my mouth while my mum had the mushroom in the white wine sauce. For main course; one of my favourite Italian dishes is meatballs and pasta which luckily was on the menu – it had lots of garlic through it which is just the way I like it. My mum went for the lasagna which was lovely but extremely hot when it was delivered to the table. As if I hadn't eaten enough I had apple pie for dessert while my mum had a coffee. Everything was delicious and we were out in plenty of time for our show. I’ll definitely be back again."

"Avoid this takeout as they are extremely unprofessional and blatant liars. This has happened twice to us and we have been left extremely disappointed with their service. Our pizza was not delivered even after hours and while we phoned the takeout to inquire about the status they confirmed the delivery was on the way. They lied to us about the delivery on separate phone calls we made to them and their lies were only caught when I insisted to speak to their manager about my refund. The store manager then confirmed that due to some technical issue our order was never placed on their system. When I asked about the their lies, the manager was only able to offer apology for they were extremely busy on the evening. This is not acceptable. If a store is busy they should advise the customers of the wait times, at least the customer can choose to go ahead with the order or not. Also being lied to feels like being cheated. I have requested my refund and manager confirmed it was processed but I still haven't received any money in my account. Papa Johns should really choose better franchise owners."

"Updated Wow has this place gone so down hill... So I'm a regular here and now i wont be coming back now. All the staff have changed from what i can tell no one from the original people from my first 5star review remain. Where do i begin... so apparently speaking/understanding English has become a difficult task for the person who now works the till/phone, i hate to think the number of incorrect orders he has put through. He's friendly enough but i have had to resort to pointing out what i want on the menu as philly cheesestake with added mushrooms was incomprehensible to him. Other customers in store had same problems. Luckily there was another staff member to translate for him. He had to use his phone to add up my order in front of me, i assume the till is too complicated for him to use. Filled with confidence that my orders are going to be correct I'm totally sure that's good food hygiene practice... He definitely does not sit on the loo with his phone at break, then handle it whilst prepping food... I'm sure... right.. does he "

"The staff at this restaurant are not only lovely, but the food is also fresh and delicious at a reasonable price. "The food was, as always, good. However, I have a complaint about the delivery. I paid an extra £2.50 for it, and when the food arrived, the delivery driver called to say he was waiting in the car park. I don't think this is what you would call home delivery. If the driver isn't willing to do the job properly, maybe he should consider a different line of work!"

"I've been a regular customer of Papa Johns (77 Holburn Street) for the last 8 years. All was perfect, up to the last 4 months. My most recent order was placed online at 7 PM to deliver asap. 1 hour and 20 minutes later, we were still waiting for the pizza. I had to drive to the restaurant and check what happened, and just when I arrived, they started to work on my order, which means, I had to wait 20 extra minutes for the pizzas. For the previous order, I placed it online and asked to be delivered at a specific time of the day. 1 and 20 minutes later, we were still waiting for the pizzas to arrive. When I called and asked what happened, they said they missed that order and would work on it at that time, which means we had to wait 30 more minutes for the pizzas. They arrived almost 2 hours later than the time requested in that day's order."

"This restaurant in Gloucester serves the best pizza! Their large pizza for £9.99 is a great deal, although you'll need to spend £10.99 for delivery. If you add a drink to your order, it's still a good price. I ordered a pizza with half Hawaiian and half pepperoni toppings. The ham was tasty and didn't seem processed or undercooked, and the pineapple was fresh, not canned. The pepperoni was crispy and had just the right amount of spiciness. The crust was also flavorful. The pizza arrived quickly, fresh, and hot. The delivery driver was friendly and polite. I can't fault Papa John's for their quality ingredients, delicious flavors, and good value. We always order from this store now, as we think it's much better than Domino's."
