"Having completed a circular walk that started and ended in Horsley, we thought we would pop into the local hostelry as a reward at the end of our travails. And what a joy it was! The welcome was friendly, the Moretti was cold, and the (assumed) regulars seemed to be chatty and sociable. We started in the garden but then rain threatened (wrongly, as it turned out) so we took our second drink inside: a lovely choice of places to sit, some very loungey ; we picked a table by the window where we found a huge array of box games to select and play! We will most definitely be returning to this place, not least because we now have four stamps on our loyalty card towards a free pizza or pint!"

"We have tried many Chinese restaurants on our way home, but this one stood out with its delicious kung pao mixed meat, spring rolls, and boiled rice. We give this place a perfect 10 out of 10. Everything tasted fresh with a generous amount of high-quality ingredients, flavorful sauce, crispy and well-made dishes that were not greasy but filled with delicious fillings. We wish we had a restaurant like this in our area. Thank you for a very enjoyable meal."

"First time we’ve been here tonight. Didnt book a table just did a walk in. They were very accommodating. The service was fantastic throughout the evening. Very friendly and helpful staff Food was unbelievable. We had lots of starters as we always do and nothing was too much trouble. When ever the plates were empty they kept coming over and asking if we wanted anything else. Will definitely be returning. Thank you for a fantastic evening with fantastic food and great customer service"
"The person who took our order was brilliant. When I told him I had a peanut allergy, he told me that no peanuts are handled on the premises (with the exception of satay sauce, which is sealed), asked whether I was okay with cashews (since they ARE handled on the premises), and then told us that one of the dishes we wanted had what looked like nut shavings, but was actually garlic granules. It was one of the most comprehensive responses to my allergy that I've ever had at a restaurant/takeaway. The food we ordered (orange chicken and shredded honey chilli chicken) was delicious and really good value. I have ordered the orange and the lemon chicken a few times before and it is consistently good. I will definitely be eating here again and recommending to friends."

The Tandoori Mixed Biryani we had tonight was in inedible did you start cooking the rice this morning ? The tandoori oven must have been broken, the meat was weird Taaka Daal Heinz Lentil Soup ? Vegetable Curry Madras Nothing like we have ever tasted, must have forgot to put the spices in! Cabbage was al dente We liked that! What a shame, see you in around a years time, perhaps things may have improved. Sad ex customer"

"WOW! My parents brought me here for my 30th! The staff were soo friendly and gave me complimentary drinks for my birthday. the food was AMAZING!! and huge portions, a hidden GEM in portadown. "Very good Cantonese and mainland Chinese restaurant. Firstly it's cash only, there's a fee free cashpoint in the coop local opposite. Service is brisk and friendly, the menu does have pictures for most things but you can ask the staff about any dishes. The garlic and chilli chicken was very good, the size of the chicken was more like taiwanese popcorn Chicken which is not a bad thing. The spicy aubergine on rice was good, it was more mainland style rather than Cantonese style which uses salted fish, rather than szechuan sauce. The beef ho fun was very good, not greasy, beef was tender and soft. The szechuan spicy noodles was good, the beef was very tender, like sliced beef brisket. Prices are cheap and reasonable, especially for Oxford, good portions are decent. Recommended."

"Found this place through happy Cow but it is nearly half an hour away from our house so took us a while to get the timing right. But OH MY DAYYYZZZZ!!!! Sweet and sour chicken balls were my go to and I have missed them since going vegan. These were so amazing, they’ve changed my life. We also got rice and crispy chilli “beef” and that was great but I would go back just for the “chicken” balls alone. They are worth the journey. And also the people were nice and the food stayed hot for the whole journey home."

"My favourite.. has the best chips plain or salt pepper. Can also highly recommend crispy chilli beef, hot sour soup, lemon or orange chicken and special fried rice. Best to call up and order then usually ready to be collected in 10/15 mins just FYI they only take cash"

"My previous review gave it and Dan's Castle has been our local Chinese takeaway of choice for years. However our last two visits, (under new management) disappointed. Our most recent meal was so amateurish. Chicken fried rice consisted of a bed of heavily...soy sauced fried rice topped with a handful of thinly sliced cooked chicken. There was no attempt to amalgamate it into the rice. The chicken and prawns were similarly underwhelming and certainly not up to the standard of cookink of the previous owners. We're sorry to write this but until ownership changes again we won't be using Dan's Castle takeaway."

"Our takeaway last Saturday night was not of the standard expected from the Village Inn at Tillycoultry. This was always our place to-go-to for a Chinese but the recent change of ownership has seen a drop in quality and we may look elsewhere, unless the quality improves. Basically the pork was a bit fatty and the outer batter undercooked. The sweet and sour sauce was too thick and gluttonous, and the fried rice had an unfamiliar taste to it. We phoned them to complain and the girl at the counter promised to pass on our comments."

"We booked dinner quite late and the staff fitted us in no problem. The Bottle Glass is a very nice looking pub, rustic lighting and furnishings, it’s a classy place. We were seated right next to a roaring log burner, nice touch. The staff warned us things might be slow on the service due to being very busy. Fair enough at least we were warned. The food? A baked Camembert to share for starters. This was delicious but I would argue it was more for one than 2 people. 3 small bits of bread were served. Why 3? 3 bits of bread each would have been fine. We waited patiently for the main. Venison Saddle. Only one complaint the Venison was rare, almost blue. It may have been rushed due to the delay and we could’ve sent it back but we had waited long enough. Venison should be medium rare and it tainted the dish but the marrow mash and jus was superb. It might be best to ask customers if they prefer rare as it is personal preference. The staff were attentive and welcoming. The overall menu options are excellent and we will go back. With a little bit more refinement this pub can be up there with some of the best in the region (we’ve been to most of them)."

"I'll be honest, I've never dined in BUT this is our local takeaway and it's so good that everything else just doesn't quite compare. It's just THAT good. I would really recommend the orange chicken (you can add your sauce rather than it being saturated which is my preference! , vegetable rice, prawn crackers, prawn toast and spring rolls. There's always enough for the next day too yum! The smell around the village is so good too so that's enough to make me go often. My only criticism is that they don't do Cantonese style chicken as that would make this place untouchable but thankfully the menu is large enough that it isn't a deal breaker."

"Have used Wing On for many years, even through their bad times when they had a one star hygiene rating. Never had a bad meal, never any upset stomachs. Food always hot fish and delicious. HOWEVER, change of ownership has led to shop interior having make over do it looks better but the food is atrocious. I'm sure my chicken was off, but I only ate a couple of mouthfuls and threw the rest out. I'm glad I did as I'm sure I would have been very unwell, rather than being just a bit off colour the following day. There was one small pice of ginger in my ginger spring onion chicken it tasted like gravy granules with onion in. My husband's sweet and sour was edible but had a strange smell that I've only noticed in cheap microwave meals before and the chips stunk the car out on the way home with the smell of old fat it was raining heavily but I drove with the window open I won't be going back"

"This charming cafe/restaurant offers a fantastic variety of food and drinks, with ample seating available both inside and outside. There is even a dog friendly area indoors. The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly and helpful. The carvery meals come in three different sizes to suit all appetites, with a selection of meats and vegetables. Other set meals are also available and are equally delicious. Definitely worth a visit, and you can explore the garden center and pick up fresh vegetables and fruit from the farm shop before heading home."
