"Brilliant. Was up in Aberdeen, from a bit down to coast, for a hospital visit. Timed it so we could get a takeaway in the 'toon ' before heading back home with it. Did a Google search for decent curry houses in the area and came up with this place. So, first time there for us. Called from the hospital grounds at just after 4pm and was told the food would be ready in about half an hour. We headed up there, arriving a wee bit early but our order was ready. Got it back home and boy it was fantastic. Lamb Seekh Kebab and vegetarian platter (for the wife) and both were great. I then had the Prawn Bombay Flame and Keema Rice and she had Prawn Dhansak with Pilau Rice. Add a Tarka Dhall on the side and Keema and Cheese Naans, popadoms and dips etc and things were complete. The quality of the food was just fantastic and the prawns were some of the best I 've ever had in a curry. Helpings were abundant as well. I cannot fault this place. Friendly staff too and clean and tidy wee shop. This may have been our first takeaway from here but rest assured it will not be our last. Brilliant!!!! Cheers!!!"

"Visited with two others on a Wednesday evening. The reservation was made quickly and easily a few days earlier via the Spice MerchantOpen Table websites.We were offered a table by one of the front windows, which we happily accepted. From this location, I noted a number of people calling for preordered takeaway meals, which was a good sign that the food is popular with local residents.Service was exceptional, from the moment we arrived to the time we eventually left. Our waiter was extremely polite and attentive, yet not obtrusive. We met the Manager, who was really friendly, very helpful when it came to choosing our food and came over at the end of our meal to offer a very kind and generous "thank you".The wine list was extensive; we ordered one bottle of red and one white. My companions were very pleased by their selections, which complemented the food perfectly. I had a bottle of Cobra beer I initially ordered the nonalcoholic variety, but that was outofstock, so I had a "normal" Cobra and limited my intake of wine I was driving.We were there for the food the menus we had perused online were extensive and this did not disappoint! Portions were good and the flavour, texture and presentation was outstanding! This restaurant must have the best Indian chefs in Berkshire.The bill was reasonable, considering what we ordered and the fact this business serves an affluent area. One of my friends was so pleased by the food and service that so booked her birthday meal there for the following month! The Manager was most accommodating regarding her wishes and we are looking forward to returning just after Christmas for another excellent evening.Well done to all the staff at Spice Merchant, Cookham you deserve awards for producing "Michelin Award" worthy food and looking after your guests so well"

"The restaurant rated well on urbanspoon so we thought we'd try it. We ordered two meat thalis and a side of tarka daal. There was a lot on the table and one thali would have sufficed for both of us. The one vegetable dish in the thali was a little bland in comparison to the others but all in all we weren't disappointed, and the bonus was the price was reasonable Closest tube station is Royal Oak."

"Food taste was great hence it has 4 stars but its the overall experience let us down. The portion was really small. We had starter and main course and found that the portion was too too small. Even portion of rice is not enough for 1 average person. We also found that we were rushed with our starter as they had main course prepared. And table was so small and too close to each other. It felt like we were at a fast food restaurant. So overall dinning experience was poor."

"Not the easiest place to find, but an absolute pearl when you do. The inside is very clean, modern in styling and welcoming. From our experience, the service from the start was attentive, friendly and quick, but without being overpowering. The quality of the food was superb delivered in good time, fresh and hot. "We started using Bonoful when our closet Indian takeaway went downhill and we would not go anywhere else. The delivery is a real bonus for us as many don't deliver out to our village. The service and food are both fabulous and the discount offered for collection is also great when we have time to collect. "we noticed something unusual in this curry house. There was a female waitress there. think about it, how often do you see female waitresses in curry houses?! bizarre isn't it! Anyway, she was smoking hot as well, and was british indian as well. Not from bangladesh or wherever they normally come from. Anyway, the food was great as well. The restaurant was possibly a little small, and we noticed a lot of people came in for take aways. the bar area was very small, but well stocked. I would give the place eight out of ten and would recommend it very much to people who like spicy food and hot women. Just kidding. about the hot women!"
