"Booked a table in the attic for dinner. We were promptly surrounded by half cut punters shouting and swearing who had been diverted up from the bar downstairs. This is unacceptable and disrespectful to customers who have come specially for dinner. It should either be...a restaurant space or a pub, not both. It didn 't get much better... I 'm bring generous to say the servers were poor at their job. The were disinterested to the point of being arrogant. Very much gave the impression of being students who had no interest in doing their job. Put down soup and dessert without noticing we had no spoons!! The table next to us had to repeatedly go to the bar to ask for missing cutlery too. After having to go to the sering station to ask for condiments we were given an empty salt shaker! Food was literally dumped down and slid along the table, canteen style. The mussels starter was the only good part of the meal but spoiled a bit by the fact the clueless servers didn 't bring a dish for used shells, meaning I couldn 't really get into the sauce beneath (leaving aside the fact they didn 't bring a spoon! and there was no hot water brought to clean my fingers. Fish and chips was passable but overpriced at £14. Worth a tenner at best. The 'mountain burger ' was an absolute joke. It looked like a kids meal from Wetherspoons; similar to the picture below by another reviewer. The burger and chips were straight from the frozen catering catalogue. The night was summed up by the horrible sight of the boss publicly dressing down one of the servers in the middle of the restaurant. He was almost face to face with her, puffing his feathers out and finger pointing. At one point a customer who was walking past to the toilet tried to intervene because it was getting so uncomfortable. He was responded to with : it 's OK, I 'm the owner. I don 't care how poorly somebody is at doing their job, nobody has the right to take liberties like that. The irony is that he was obviously pulling her up for something to do with the tables of drinkers as he clearly hadn 't noticed the standard of restaurant food and service. On that note; it 's not a good look for an owner to be boozing in his own establishment and rise to his feet to play the boss card just to look like a big shot."

"Arrived slightly early for our meal and were shown to our table. The pub was almost empty with just another table occupied and a man at the bar. We were asked for our drink order before we had even sat down. The drinks then took an age to come and we could see them on the end of the bar. What the staff were doing when when there was hardly anyone else in is beyond me. Drinks finally delivered. Menu choices were taken some 10 minutes later and the starters arrived aound 15 minutes later. The scallops were tasty especially the crispy chorizo. My husband had the goats cheese which was served with beetroot puree. He said this was tasteless with no taste of beetroot at all. We then sat and waited for the plates to be taken away, and waited, and waited. We also had no drinks left either so needed to re order. It was at this point I thought I would check Trip Advisor to see if anyone else had complained about the incredibly slow service. How I wish we had checked this before and not whilst sat at the table. The latest review was shocking and we were alarmed to see that the pub had only been given a 1 star rating for hygiene by the council inspectors, with the contributor claiming to have suffered food poisoning from the meal. The waitress finally came after 20 minutes and removed our starter plates and took our drink reorder. Main courses arrived I had the ceasar salad as it was an exceptionally hot humid evening. The salad came served in a bowl which had been heated.!! This meant that the lettuce was somewhat limp however, it was tasty overall but certainly not worth the £15 it cost. My husband ordered the 10oz 32 day aged Sirloin Steak, which cost £27. As he orders steak wherever we go, he does know his cuts of steak and did comment that this was a rather cheap cut of meat and had a lot of gristle in it, to the point he left a good quarter of the steak uneaten. Also, everything was coated in salt. The chunky chips were incredibly salty, so was the steak and even the mushrooms were salted. He ordered a glass of Merlot to accompany the steak and this cost a eye watering £8.75..!! We have been here before, although a long time ago and whether it has changed hands since then, I dont know but although the meal was okay, the atmosphere, ambience and the service were terrible. We had intended on having a dessert as this was our wedding anniversary meal but just decided to pay and leave. The bill was over £80 for 2 courses and 2 drinks each (2 of these were soft drinks). We will not be returning and unlikely to recommend."
