"We managed to get a last minute booking which surprised us, given that it was a Friday evening in the west end. When we arrived we received a warm welcome and given a nice table by the window. We ordered wine which was decanted at the table by our waitress Valentina. We chose mussels to start followed by pizza and sergios cod provencal along with a tomato and onion salad which they kindly prepared despite not being on the menu, (not always easy to achieve in many other restaurants) The mussels were tiny and many of the shells were empty, however the marinara sauce was tasty. The pizza, quattro formaggi was incredibly salty and doughy. The cod dish was bland and in our opinion the fish was undercooked. We were hungry so ate what we could. But left a considerable amount of food untouched. When the waitress came to clear she could obviously see that we had not enjoyed the food and asked how it was. She was also surprised that no-one had come to do a quality check. She said she would go and speak to the manager, which she did. After we paid and made to leave the manager then approached and offered us a limoncello which we declined. Sadly we were disappointed and despite there being many celebrity photographs adorning the walls, we found the experience underwhelming."

"The restaurant is lovely, but our experience was disappointing. There were 6 of us and the food was not good. The lamb kebabs and lamb chops were tough and unpleasant to eat. The service was also poor, with the waiter only attending to us when called. After paying a high price for poorly cooked food, we decided to never eat at hotels again. We had much better meals at other local restaurants such as Sawil and Marie Venna."

"First time here, I don't know what I was expecting but whatever it was I was definitely impressed! Smart place, we had a Groupon for Saturday's which was incredibly good value. The is on another level, cooked super fresh from scratch, it's up there with the best I've had. I liked the bar as well comfortable. The open plan kitchen pizzeria was nice. "We have visited Amore various times previously. Called last night to book Christmas Lunch menu for Saturday 9th December and secured a table for 3.15pm. When we arrived were handed dinner menu and following ordering drinks when we queried the menu we were advised that lunch finished at 2.45pm. We each had two courses with a soft drink one with a starter and both having lasagne as main and the other a sweet. Restaurant was busy as expected for time of year. Starter was prawns on sourdough and nice. Lasagne presented with absolutely no side salad or even a sliver of garlic bread all the sides are extra cost. Sweet was Eton mess and literally a scoop of ice cream a few crumbs of merengue and a single half a strawberry thinly sliced. Bill including the pre-added service charge was £74. Staff were courteous as always but we were sorely disappointed with our experience today."

"I have been going to this restaurant for years for special occasions, and it has always been fantastic. However, on my last visit for a first date, things went completely wrong. We ordered two different steak meals, each with a different cooking style and sauce. When the meals arrived, they had the wrong sauces and were cooked incorrectly. I spoke to the manager about the issue, but it led to an awkward situation. I asked for the meals to be prepared correctly, but was told that mine would then be cold. Instead of replacing the meals, we ended up accepting what we were given. This disastrous experience ruined my first date and I ended up paying over £89 for it. It was definitely not a Marc Pierre moment. Since then, I have taken my business elsewhere. It's unfortunate, as I used to really enjoy this restaurant before this incident."

My fiance and I shared a barbecue chicken pizza and a calzone — the calzone was okay but rather unremarkable (especially for the price), but the pizza was just awful: far too salty, barely any trace of proper barbecue, and without any exaggeration at all the chicken bits tasted of fish instead of actual chicken. "I have never before had a problem with reservations placed on opentable but this restaurant refused to honor my reservation because they claim they do not honor reservations placed less than hours in advance in my opinion they should then close off the ability to make reservations because that goes against the entire purpose of using the app we specifically went to this restaurant because we were able to confirm a reservation there we would have gone somewhere else had we known they would not honor the reservation. When we were finally seated (over minutes after our reservation time) when we tried to order they were out of almost everything no steak, no pork, really only pizza. Service was extremely slow and inattentive. Overall horrible experience, which is unfortunate as I have greatly enjoyed dining at other La Tagliatella locations in Spain"

"Went for lunch on Saturday with my husband and sister in law. Have been to this pub quite a few times and although the service has never been fantastic I was shocked at how bad it was. The last time we came (a few months ago) it was awful but we said we would give it another try as the food is nice and it’s a good looking pub. We were shown to our table and 10 mins later no one came over. There was no staff in the restaurant part at all for the whole meal. Had to go to the bar and ask to order, was told someone would be with us in 2 mins. 5 mins later a girl came to take our order. Bit of a side point but you wouldn’t know she worked there as she was in ripped jeans and a strappy top (not really appropriate). Food came out in acceptable time. 2 of the 3 burgers were a bit burnt and not great but the chips were really nice. No one came over to ask if our meals were ok. No one came over to clear our plates. No one came over and asked if we wanted coffee or desert. We got up and went to pay at the bar as there was no one around to ask for the bill. When we paid no one asked if everything had been ok. We would have ordered desert and coffee but got so sick of waiting (the restaurant was very quiet) we went to BIGS deserts down the road. Such a shame but the staff need a shake up in this place as it could be great. I’ve given it a second chance and won’t be giving it a third."

"our first visit was fantastic, eating was delicious, and good service. there were so tasty duck and sweet dishes. tiramisu was delicious. big red wine too. large open restaurant, spacious seating, beautiful deco. toilets clean. the staff on the quiet side, not very friendly or welcoming. our second visit was actually just the next day. we had swept so much over the place where my son wanted to try. but unfortunately we were very disappointed. the lasagna was bland and cold in the middle (I have informed the waitress) and the rest of the food was not on the previous night standard. the roasted seafoods were more like a tapas dish, my sea bass was tasteless and underwhelming. maybe it was because of the weekend of st. valentine?. hopefully it was just a bad day for the staff. my five star rating was only for our first night. we loved it."

"sora lella is amazing! my partner and I shared the creamy chicken and pepper starter, then the meat had solid calzone and four cheese penne for the net. each dish was so warming, fresh and tasty, and we wish we had the time to visit again on our short trip. eating is comparable, but I would honestly say better than all non-vegan equivalents and it was really hard to believe that the food we ate was vegan, especially the cheese elements of the dishes that were all perfection. service was also a great highlight. the whole restaurant was full when we went on a Saturday night, but despite being attentive, eating quickly came out and the two servers were generally only beautiful. Both worked very hard, as it was so busy, but the whole atmosphere never reflected that they had helped on negative wise to create a very relaxed environment and there was a great uplift over the restaurant. they also offered us some free limoncellos, as we celebrated my birthday, which was really sweet. the restaurant was clean, cozy and the tables were well separated. portions were really generous and cheap. in total just a really amazing culinary experience and so glad to see that this place won edinburgh trattoria of the year 2021, as it clearly deserves it keeps its own to each non-vegan Italian restaurant I have been, and there is obviously much love and passion that goes into the restaurant and eat. can not wait to visit again in edinburgh."

"Went for the dinner buffet with few friends. It was an absolute treat starting from the ease of booking the place to getting in touch with the staff for a couple of queries. Staff was very well behaved and did everything possible to make the best of our time. Coming to the food, there is a lot of variety for each section, and it's halal (for those who are looking for such option). Tried almost everything till the time there was no more room to get something down the throat and very happy to report that everything was full of taste and quality. A perfect treat for everyone, especially for people from subcontinent region. Didn't get any photos this time but will absolutely get a few next time as I'll surely be going again."
