"Took our seats at an empty table downstairs, to immediately be asked Are you eating? (No Hello or Welcome and implying that if we were not ordering food then we couldn 't sit at the table. After being given the menus, it took about 10 minutes for the server to return. Meanwhile, the atmosphere was extremely unpleasant and chaotic....continous noise from very loud clattering of crockery and the constant use of the coffee/espresso machine, plus lots of rushing around and staff talking loudly to eachother. When he did return, he made some sarcastic and strange reaction to my elderly mother ordering a cream team.....not sure why exactly he said something about it being Too early but that he 's Not judging . All very bizarre. A cheap and nasty brown sauce brand was placed on the table, together with a Heinz ketchup bottle that looked about 10 years old, that had been refilled with cheap and nasty ketchup (definitely not Heinz . The cream tea was very poor. A tiny scone, which had been overwarmed (microwaved? and took a while to cool down, was accompanied by a small dollop of cream and some of the cheapest nastiest jam I 've ever seen. The poached eggs dish with mushrooms, tomatoes and toast was reasonable, but the poached eggs were slightly overcooked. I 'd ordered extra bacon, which turned out to be turkey bacon (though this was not described at all on the menu, and nobody mentioned it . I also understand that the sausages are beef not pork, and again this is not mentioned anywhere. Coronation chicken sandwich was OK, but lacked a little salad garnish on the side which most other cafes typically provide. At no time were we asked whether the food was OK, and at no time even when paying the bill did anyone say Thankyou . This establishment has a lot to learn in customer service. But my overall impression is that they 're not aiming for repeat custom. They come across as nothing more than a tourist trap, maskerading behind the facade of a quaint and traditional tea shop/cafe in one of Bath 's tourist hotspots. Honesty and transparency about the non pork (and presumably Halal ingredients would go a long way.....why not just list it on the menu? Otherwise it just comes across as dishonest and hiding something. The cheap condiments and jams also seems like unnecessary cost cutting......and don 't pretend it 's a premium brand if it 's clearly not. Avoid. There are so many good options to eat in Bath and this is not one of them."

Prima Restaurant

Prima Restaurant

40-46 The Side, Quayside, Newcastle, NE13JA, NE1 3JA, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom

Pizza • Pasta • Steak • Italian

"Prima is a real gem of a restaurant, a stone's throw from both the Quayside and from the centre of town, so definitely a convenient location but it can get busy, especially of a weekend. I was there recently on a works night out, in a party of at least 25 people, seated upstairs along with two or three others parties of over 25 people too. There was a great atmosphere, a real buzz about the place, and the staff really were enjoying themselves, which was great to see! I did think that with so many large parties eating all at once, the food would either take some time to come out or be rushed and of inferior quality. Wrong and wrong! All our orders came out around the same time (as best could be done with such a large group and the food was excellent. There's lots to choose from, as a guide my starter was scallops with black pudding, parma ham and salad the scallops were cooked perfectly, my only teeny complaint was that the black pud was a bit overdone! Main was a Pizza Lucifero (nice'n'spicy had to be done , and that was also cooked perfectly, the thin base cooked through but not overdone, the right amount of toppings, really tasty. Lots of clean plates and happy people at the end (I would've had a dessert, but everyone else was feeling full and I didn't want to be the lone greedy guts... All prices seem very reasonable from the menu, although cannot really comment as this one went on the company tab. However, I would definitely come back here given the prices. So, if you're looking for somewhere in Newcastle with great food, excellent atmosphere and superb staff, you'll not be disappointed should you opt to come here."

"Friday evening 19th October and we visited this restaurant for dinner. It is located in Mermaid Quay and overlooks Roald Dahl Plass and the Welsh Millennium Centre. We did not have a reservation, so luckily they were able to accommodate the seven of us. We were greeted at the door, warmly welcomed, and shown to our large circular table. We were presented with the menus, there was the a la carte menu as well as a set price two and three course menus and the drinks menu. This is an Italian, Spanish and Welsh flavour to the food served here. While we decided on what food to order we ordered some drinks from a friendly good humoured waiter. We finally decided on what to order which was a range of starters including garlic mushrooms, chicken liver pate and homemade soup. My starter, the soup, leek and potato was delicious. Home made Welsh faggots proved to be rather popular with a number of us ordering them. It was unfortunate that there were insufficient faggots for us all so a couple of us reselected the chicken breast. When our food was served it was delicious the chicken breast was succulent and tender and the faggots were very much appreciated. There is certainly a sense of the theatrical, dramatic and the zany about the decor here. From chandeliers, Greek statues, theatre curtains, unusual lights and other oddities, they all added to the atmosphere here. We really did enjoy our evening here, reasonably priced, quality delicious food, attentive and amusing staff and the over the top decor."
