"I had been planning to return to this restaurant for a few years. I finally went back today and was pleased to find it empty on a bank holiday Monday for brunch. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was just average and our order was not quite correct, although we were slightly overcharged on the bill. There was no butter with the toast and no offer of condiments. The coffee was good and the staff were pleasant, but the service was only average. The prices were already high, but considering the location, they could have been acceptable with better quality food. What I found unacceptable was the 12% gratuity added to the bill. In summary, it was an overpriced, average cafe brunch in a great location. In my opinion, it could have been packed on a sunny bank holiday morning if the food had been better."

"Four days in and a gratefully received invitation to review led me to Bistro Union. And what a lovely neighbourhood restaurant this is, located on the beautiful Abbeville Road serving good quality British food. This Bistro was created by Adam Byatt and the team behind The Trinity, another Clapham based restaurant. I’ve not visited Trinity but from what I’ve read Bistro Union seems to be the laid back relation in atmosphere and price whilst the quality and seasonality of ingredients are values they both share."

"Convenient parking and friendly staff make this restaurant a great choice. The two waitresses were lovely, polite, attentive, and always had smiles on their faces. The atmosphere was relaxed and not overly fancy. The food was excellent, especially the flat iron steak which had a superb flavor. Prices were very reasonable. Overall, no complaints and I will definitely be visiting again."

"Found out that under new ownership since October 2023, so recommendations to me were based on friends experience with previous owners. The manager was friendly and very attentive, asking lots of questions, explaining their menu when asked, telling me that the interior will be changed in the near future. Anyway, for starters we chose Calamari, Garlic Mushrooms with Cheese, King Prawns, and Halluomi. We then all helped ourselves to bits and pieces of each. The starters were plentiful in portion size, with all choices being great, especially the garlic mushrooms with cheese. For mains we chose a mixed grill, chicken shish, lamb ribs, and chicken wings and chips for my daughter. The chicken and lamb shish were both tender and full of flavour, and the lamb ribs were great. They all came with slad and bulgur (I can only describe it as a cross between rice and cous-cous).The mixed grill was plentiful in size and looked appetising, but my father in law enjoyed that all to himself , so I can only assume it was good. My daughter enjoyed her chicken wings too We were given bread on the table, which was warm and full of flavour too. We were definitely made to feel welcome, and will definitely return. Good to know that they deliver too. We were at the restaurant early (5pm booking), so were the only people in the restaurant, however, there was a constant stream of delivery drivers collecting orders for delivery. It was my daughters birthday the following day, so tye manager gave her a small dessert on the house as well. Parking: A few parking spaces on the street just a couple of doors down from the restaurant , where you use the RingGo App or good old cash to pay for parking."

"I begrudge having to write this review, however I am appalled by the service (or lack of) from the red lion. I’ve tried to contact them several times and have been ignored, which is especially frustrating since the manger replied to a review a few days ago. We made a booking of 20+ for my partner’s birthday in June. Although the food was lovely, the service was not. Firstly, we were left waiting a while for the food even though it was preordered. Secondly, each person had to go to the bar to order drinks as staff did not take orders from the table even though it was on one tab. They were clearly understaffed on the night, considering the size of our party. Thirdly, there was an issue with the preorder of desserts and some people did not receive a dessert and were not informed until the rest of the group had theirs. The lady dealing with this was also quite rude and did not offer a resolution. Finally, there was a dispute about the bill and I’ve emailed the manager several times as some items cannot be attributed to anyone in the party but have not received a response. Emails were sent on 28/06, 03/07 and 15/07. It really is a shame as we’ve been here before and enjoyed the food, but it is safe to say that none of the party will be returning and the customer service received is unsatisfactory. Again, I would have been happy to resolve this but feel forced to write a review due to the lack of response."

"Visited with the family, in a rainy day after a day trip to Duxford IWM. Mains were tasty, but nothing spectacular. Deserts were bellow expectations, particularly the chocolate delice. Service was nice, very polite waiters, but the wait for all the dishes was horrendous. The backgardem with the pond offers nice views, and expect it to be amazing in a dry day. Due to the long waiting times and nothing spectacular in the food section I do not recommend the venue."

"We arrived at the restaurant without a reservation but were able to be seated. We found the food to be of higher quality compared to Pizza Express, which we used as a benchmark. The boys enjoyed their squid starter, while I always love the tomato brushetta. We also ordered mixed olives, which came in a tasty garlic herb dressing. For our main courses, the boys had a chicken burger and pepperoni pizza, both of which were generous portions. I opted for the pumpkin, ricotta, and crispy sage leaves ravioli, which was handmade and absolutely delicious. However, I wish the portion size had been larger or that it could have been offered as a starter for a lower price. The dish reminded me of a similar one at Watson and Walpole in Framlingham, but was much more affordable. We all ordered cokes, which were served with ice and lemon. The only thing missing was the chili oil that we used to find on the tables, which the boys requested for their pizza. We decided to skip dessert as we found the prices to be a bit high for the portion sizes, especially without a voucher and on a Saturday when there was no set menu offered. The service was decent, although one of the waitresses was quite loud when shouting orders across the restaurant, making the atmosphere a bit less relaxing. Instead, we opted to enjoy pastries, cakes, and coffee at H&H Honey and Harvey in Woodbridge, where I highly recommend the almond croissant."

"We went for dinner before a show in the theatre next to the restaurant. We booked for to give us plenty of time. It was a Wednesday and it quickly filled up. We had smoked mackerel and the squash as starters then shin of beef which was melt in the mouth amazing. We had mash on the side. The whipped crowdie with blackcurrant sorbet and granola was equally delicious with intense flavours, Scottish cheesecake indeed. The service was great, every dish described and drinks provided promptly. Water given by default and bread served after. We were also offered more bread when we finished it. We had coffee to finish and also offered top ups. A comfortable room and warm too. Great food good value."

"Easy to find a space outside, greeted by a helpful receptionist. we loved our room, room 1. so spacious and clean and lovely décor and great view of the square. Really liked the Bramely products and bathroom with very hot water. We grabbed a drink before dinner, great atmosphere in the bar and noticed the Gm being very attentive to the guests. The dinner was lovely, we weren't so keen on some of the main dishes but equally happy picking a burger and a steak we also really enjoyed breakfast the next day and the tall waiter sorry cant remember his name) was very nice and had great interaction. "What a delightful pub, full of atmosphere and good food. I just wish we had a pub like this in our local area in Bucks. I chose the cod which was perfectly cooked, but one small point, I would have preferred chopped chorizo instead of sliced. Only a tiny detail, I know. As we were away from home we noticed how much meat was on the menu. Clearly readily available plant based meals haven’t reached this part of the country."

"The Colonel Fawcett in Camden Town is a nice, quieter alternative to the bustling main drag. We stopped in for an early dinner and were impressed with the amazing food served here. The pub offers proper food, with generous and delicious starters. I opted for the Monkfish Scampi while my partner chose the venison chipolata sausages. Unfortunately, they had run out of sea bass but my husband graciously settled for the sausage and mash. Overall, we both enjoyed our meals and our experience at The Colonel Fawcett. The staff were friendly and attentive, and we will definitely be returning when we are back in Camden."

"The atmosphere at the Tickell is a balance between being contemporary and steeped in history. Lovely building with odd shaped windows. Bar was welcoming and the restaurant was lit which made the evening ambiance just right to lose yourself. It felt as if we were there in out own private restaurant. No music playing just the hum of people enjoying good food and company. We had a memorable experience."

"We had an excellent birthday dinner at this restaurant. The service was friendly and professional. The menu offers a wide variety of seasonal dishes that cater to different tastes. Although the pudding was not perfect, we appreciated the discount we were offered on our bill. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. The dining room, located in the conservatory, provides a lovely view of the garden. We have visited multiple times and have always experienced consistently good quality and service."

"I really like this restaurant and would rate it a 3. My only criticism is that the waitstaff could be a bit more attentive. A few times, different waiters asked us the same question, which was a bit surprising given how busy the restaurant was. While it's a minor issue, I do think it happened a bit too often. That said, it won't deter me from returning."

"Took my wife for a 40th Birthday afternoon tea. The service was prompt and attentive. Our dietary requirement (no mayo for me and no beef for the wife was no problem). The cake, scones and desserts were to die for. A beautiful setting with the Christmas tree, piano and general ambiance. A shame for the staff that we were the only ones in there that early to serve but honestly- it was perfect. 10/10. Thank you. Well worth the trip from Nottingham."
