"Before visiting Mama Mia, we read the reviews on Trip Adviser. They ranged from one star, citing the rudeness of the manager, to five star, praising the excellence of the food. Both were correct. The manager was exceptionally rude and boorish, especially in the way he mistreats his staff (they must be exceptionally well paid to put up with the abuse he hands out to them in front of customers) but the food was excellent. Somewhat overpriced at over £100 for two courses for two plus an indifferent bottle of Italian plonk. A 12.5% service charge was added but we didn’t have the heart to ask for it to be removed because of the treatment we had seen the staff receiving. However, we go to restaurants for the food and we had no complaints about that so four stars. But we won’t be back."
