"Vietnam House is one of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh. Every time I go I love it even more. This review is from my last visit yesterday. I went with three friends and we all ordered something different. We had the fresh spring roles which are by far one of the best spring roles I've had in my life. As for the mains I had a Beef Pho which is absolutely amazing! I added the chilli sauce and it was perfect! Iva Stefanova Stancheva went for the Bo Kho Saigon's Beef Stew which she finished in a record time and said it was really good. However, she also said it was like a soup so don't expect a very thick stew. Simona Troppova had a braised pork in caramel sauce which I've had before and loved it! It's quite sweet so don't go for it if you don't like your meat sweet. My other friend went for the Bun Cha Gio noodles but vegetarian style. He really liked it. As for the desserts we had a green melon ice cream which was absolutely amazing and served in half frozen melon. It's obviously home made and tastes great! My friend had a Vietnamese dessert which is served with lychee, pineapple jelly and basil seeds. It's really weird but yummy weird! If you like trying new things get this dessert and you won't regret. The ambience is always very relaxed and the staff is friendly and they know the menu inside out. They can recommend dishes if you struggle to choose. If you haven't been here yet book a table and go and I guarantee you won't regret it! The only fault of this place is that it's open only for dinner!"

"After never visiting Canterbury before we where looking for somewhere to have a late lunch, we came across this place which looked ok, upon entering the back room we were offered to take a seat in the front area and someone will be with us. We asked what food there was and we where sarcastically shown the food on the blackboard, after choosing what we wanted the polite man went off and put the order in. We did feel that because the man had asked a couple of questions to another member of staff that he was spoke down too a bit. Anyway after placing the order and what we wanted the food came out it wasn’t correct but because it seemed like we were going to interrupt the people in the back room we just took what we had. It was nice food though. When we went to pay we hadn’t noticed that there wasn’t a price list so when we asked for the bill we were told that it was donation, what we thought was enough, it wasn’t posted anywhere and it took us by surprise as we where standing at the till, I was going to pay in cash but was told they don’t take cash so I had to give my donation in card by telling the person how much we where donating. After plucking a figure out of air as we wasn’t prepared we paid and left. Upon leaving we felt that the person we paid thought we hadn’t paid enough and wasn’t happy with the amount but after working out what we would have paid properly we worked out that we had paid more than what it might have been if there was a proper price on everything. Overall it has a great ethos and it’s great for giving people the experience that they need to be in a working environment but they need to show the price or tell customers first that it’s donations and card only."
