"Vietnam House is one of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh. Every time I go I love it even more. This review is from my last visit yesterday. I went with three friends and we all ordered something different. We had the fresh spring roles which are by far one of the best spring roles I've had in my life. As for the mains I had a Beef Pho which is absolutely amazing! I added the chilli sauce and it was perfect! Iva Stefanova Stancheva went for the Bo Kho Saigon's Beef Stew which she finished in a record time and said it was really good. However, she also said it was like a soup so don't expect a very thick stew. Simona Troppova had a braised pork in caramel sauce which I've had before and loved it! It's quite sweet so don't go for it if you don't like your meat sweet. My other friend went for the Bun Cha Gio noodles but vegetarian style. He really liked it. As for the desserts we had a green melon ice cream which was absolutely amazing and served in half frozen melon. It's obviously home made and tastes great! My friend had a Vietnamese dessert which is served with lychee, pineapple jelly and basil seeds. It's really weird but yummy weird! If you like trying new things get this dessert and you won't regret. The ambience is always very relaxed and the staff is friendly and they know the menu inside out. They can recommend dishes if you struggle to choose. If you haven't been here yet book a table and go and I guarantee you won't regret it! The only fault of this place is that it's open only for dinner!"

We are tourists visiting the area and purposely chose to dine here. The staff is welcoming and friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy. The food is delicious and feels home-cooked. We highly recommend this place!

The dining experience and service at this restaurant were amazing. The fresh chicken spring rolls were incredibly delicious, possibly the best I've ever had. The rinderpho was flavorful yet not overpowering, with tender pieces of beef and tasty rice noodles. The chicken roast rice was also very tasty and satisfying. We will definitely be returning!

my friend and I were here several times for the pho and will not go anywhere else. it is a very small restaurant almost like someone living room! really efficient service and excellent value for money to book in any case, as it is always full when I have been and people are always turned away at the end. in any case, I will always come to this place as long as I am in edinburgh.

In 2011 The Vietnam House was the first Vietnamese restaurant to open in Edinburgh. A family run restaurant showcasing traditional and authentic Vietnamese dishes including the national dish Pho. Situated on Grove Street the small restaurant could easily be missed. As we entered we were immediately welcomed by a smiling waitress. The restaurant is very homely and has a warm feel with lanterns hanging from the ceiling.

We had our best meal while in Edinburgh at Vietnam House. It's a strange little restaurant, with a bit of rearranging they could possibly fit a few more tables in. We loved that we could bring our own wine. Being from South Africa we love a great bottle of wine and have found most of what has been available in other restaurants has been average wine for a high price, so this was a nice change. The food was awesome! Fried chicken noodles yum! And chicken curry yum! Definitely recommend this! Such a great hidden gem!

I have heard so many good things about this place so I was pleased that we finally got round to trying it. Vietnam House is a smallish, family run restaurant, beautifully decorated with art for sale on the walls. The menu wasn’t overwhelming as it was both explained well and did not offer thousands of items to wade through. We went for fresh (goi cuon) and fried (cha gio) spring rolls and then for mains I went for braised pork in caramel sauce (thit heo kho) and my dining companion went for the lotus chicken rice (xoi ga).

This place was recommended to me by a friend and I was pleasantly surprised! The food had real authentic feel and dishes were nicely presented. For starters we had fresh spring rolls which were great and fish cakes which were a bit too small in my view. Then my friend had Lotus chicken looked impressive, and I had house noodles which were too dry for my liking and could do with more sauce. Overall we enjoyed our food and would go back to try other dishes. I would advise to book a table as the restaurant was full very quickly.

Minuscule restaurant, so unassuming you might actually be tempted to pass it. Please Don't!! From the moment you walk in the staff are so friendly, the host was actually on the phone when we walked but still managed to convey warmth and friendliness. The decor is warm and charming. They have lovely original art for sail as well. The food was out of this world. So simple yet amazingly delicious. I have been to some really fine establishments Michelin star ones but for me nothing comes close to the quality of meals here. A word of advice the menu is small and they do not serve alcohol at all but they do allow you to byob wine and beer only. Do your self a favor and try this restaurant . To the...
