"The setting is traditionally beautiful, the service was good, but the food... it really was terrible. Menu seemed to be 20 years out of date, boasting local produce (fresh asparagus in November?! . The main course was horrendous, cold vegetables (on cold plates , a fillet steak that could not be cut even with a steak knife (I had to leave 3/4 of it as it was inedible and a lasting taste of weird truffle pate that lingered for the rest of the evening. Not wanting to make a fuss in front of a room full of diners, I discreetly asked one of the waiting staff to advise the chef that the steak was too chewy to eat. I don’t think she let the chef know as my comment was not followed up. We paid our bill and left without daring to sample dessert! Such a massive disappointment (and a pricey one for inedible food ."
