My partner and I treated my mother to Sunday lunch on her birthday. We had a lovely time. My mother’s dietary request was delicious. The ambiance and service both top notch. The Rolls Royce of Traditional Sunday Lunches!

A delicious lunch, as always. Smoked Salmon fishcake, Confit Lamb with potatoes seasonal vegetables followed by poached pear with salted caramel oat crisp. Service, ambiance and food exceptional. Restaurant was tastefully decorated for Christmas.

Our recent visit to this venue took us by surprise did not expect to see a hotel with that quality a lovely experience to go with the lovely decor and the service excellent enjoyed the meal very much and would recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates quality dining with quality sevice

Excellent food, with a wide choice of dishes. Excellent service, waiters plentiful, and very professional and attentive, also very smartly dressed. Dining room very attractive, lovely atmosphere. Head waiter very professional, and everything very organised, and quietly under control. It was relaxing and quiet and calming.

The dining experience at this restaurant was excellent. There were a variety of delicious dishes to choose from. The service was exceptional, with attentive and professional waitstaff who were also immaculately dressed. The dining room had a beautiful atmosphere and was well organized and peaceful. Overall, it was a relaxing and soothing experience.

What a delight! The service was fantastic, the ambiance was set by the gentle glow of candles, and the food was excellent. We have dined here several times, and while our recent lunches were good they were not outstanding. However, tonight's dinner was outstanding. The mixed grill, which had an additional charge, was especially noteworthy. And the bananas flambeed in brandy tableside was a delightful and flavorful experience.

I had a relaxing lunch at this restaurant, but next time I would go for dinner and try out their old school style menu. The scallops were excellent and definitely worth the extra cost. The service provided by the young team was superb. I recommend having a drink in the lounge before your meal. For the main course, I tried the set menu which included excellent turkey and hake dishes. The only areas for improvement are the stuffing and the sweetness of the clustered items. Despite these very small issues, I would definitely go back again.

Grand cuisine and good value We once again enjoyed an excellent meal here. My wife had smoked duck breast with blood orange jelly, suprême of guinea fowl and coconut panna cotta with pomegranate; I had celeriac and apple soup, grilled bacon chop, and burnt honey parfait with mango (the menu changes weekly). Each dish was expertly prepared and presented and they complemented one another very well. The service was friendly, attentive and respectful and the ambience is spacious and elegant but not stiffly formal. We booked the Garden Restaurant at The Grand Hotel on Friday and found it excellent. The attentive staff, who seemed to visit our table in time to the music, came back and forth, with the water, the wine, the warm bread rolls, the complimentary appetiser from the chef followed by our 3 courses. All the food was delicious though my husband wondered if a fish knife was not the best thing to cut up his broccoli (which was al dente). We took our coffee in the lounge and this was served with chocolatey sweetmeats We watched as the staff rolled up the carpet in syncopation. Maybe we could have stayed for a dance if we did not have a long drive home? Because we had to drive home we had ordered one...
