"Went here for an impromptu lunch yesterday with my Mum. It 's not a table service restaurant, more so select and order at the bar like a pub however definitely a 'restaurant ' feel to it. The menu I feel would be good for most people although I am not sure about allergies/intolerances. Mexican/American/Italian (burgers, pizza, tacos etc). I am a (mostly) vegan and I 've never felt so 'seen ' as on this menu. Around 50% of choices were vegan. Staff were efficient and friendly. My 'very good value ' title is based on comparing this venue to other similar places as well as those more expensive and cheaper. My pizza was HUGE. I couldn 't finish it (unheard of) my Mum 's 'gyro ' was smaller but perfectly substantial for lunch. Of course with more upmarket places you 'd expect to not get as much but perhaps have it of better quality, however this has often been far from my experience! This venue is in the middle and was great. I do not think vegan pizza is tricky to get right, but from other venues I 've suspected that I am wrong. To me It 's just, 'make a pizza but use vegan cheese and meat subs if they want '. Some venues prefer to not use cheese at all -which is fine at times but still feels a bit like a form of 'othering ' and some offer very little in the way of toppings other than veg-again this may suit some people but for me it was uplifting to be able to just order something 'normal '! This is actually the first time I 've been out for vegan pizza and got something fantastic. My Mum loved her 'gyro ' (I 'd not heard of these) too. Very reasonable for drinks-£3 for half a beer and a sparkling water (which was free). Surroundings were great, rustic but clean and well-cared for. Lovely big venue, loos clean and kept up with, nice atmosphere Will definitely recommend. My only one gripe (which may be more personal) was that the place was quite cold. Not somewhere you 'd want to take layers off BUT, I appreciate it is a huge building with high ceilings and would cost a fortune to heat. And not everyone feels the cold as much as me."

"I recently visited Inn Deep over the weekend, hoping to have a pleasant evening with my friend. However, I encountered an incident that left me deeply disappointed and hurt. While standing at the bar, a member of the staff approached me and rudely informed me that I wasn 't allowed to stand there. I understand that there was a sign that said Dinnae stand here, using Scottish slang for don 't. However, the staff member made it clear that she believed I couldn 't understand it due to my ethnicity. Her passive-aggressive tone and insinuation were clear indicators of casual racism. I feel compelled to emphasise that I was born and raised in Scotland, and I consider myself Scottish. I was shocked by this incident, as it is unacceptable to make assumptions based on someone 's appearance or background. This kind of casual racism has no place in any establishment, and it should not be tolerated. Furthermore, what was even more disappointing was the staff member 's complete lack of acknowledgment or apology when I informed her that we were being served by her colleague. Her dismissive behaviour only added to the experience. As a customer, I believe it is crucial to raise awareness about incidents like these and promote a respectful and inclusive environment. I hope the management of Inn Deep takes this matter seriously and addresses it appropriately. I would like to reiterate that I have been a resident of Scotland my entire life, and it is my hope that no one else encounters such insensitive treatment at Inn Deep. Discrimination should not be tolerated in any form, and I sincerely hope that necessary actions are taken to rectify this situation."

"My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around Durham when we chanced upon The Head Of Steam Pub, really pleased about this as I am a big fan of The Head Of Steam Pub chain, one in my home town of Liverpool were my...twin brother Stephen and I are frequent visitors, whatever town or city we visit we always keep an eye peeled for an outlet, this one in Durham was really good. Loved the look of this Head Of Steam Pub, a wonderful interior, pubby decor and furnishings, eclectic wall art, an eye catching serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside plus an upstairs outside terrace, its just a great pub to unwind in. My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a Thursday evening, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the bar team, a quick study of their real ale's and we both opted to have Motorhead Road Crew American pale ale , these were poured and served in excellent condition by staff who are so Knowledgeable about their beers, we luckily managed to get a table outside were we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. My pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced pale ale, hints of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slight bitter finish, a classic pale ale so tasty and refreshing on such a glorious evening, my twin brother Stephen also gave me a thumbs up to his pale ale. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to this particular Head Of Steam Pub we were totally impressed. This Head Of Steam Pub is easy to locate along North Road. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, Midday till 11pm. A wonderful pub if you're planning a trip to Durham most definitely well worth checking out."
