"Were seated in the dark park of the restaurant underground rather than the much nicer leafy, open part upstairs with lots of light. Food was average really for the price the sea bass was nice though for half price. Went here a few years ago and really liked it but didn’t this time"

"I've been in a couple of times, and enjoyed it, but this time it fell short. the service was very slow and inattentive, it took them to the end of the meal to bring us ice and lemon for our drinks, which we ordered at the beginning of the meal and eat ourselves, while extremely generous in its portion sizes, was disappointing. the starters were good, but the main thing (we had all chickens in different iterations that were dry and uninteresting). we'll give him one because one. Maybe it was just that they were packed out on a Friday night. they gave us a loan to the bill that was estimated."

"The restaurant is too expensive and has too many employees. I must say that the food is of good quality. I did enjoy my burger, but when I asked for a salad, all I got was onions."

"We have been too this Toby, for a Carvery times in years and once for Breakfast. I can honestly say, we stopped going here because the food was always either overcooked or undercooked, substandard. We had roast potatoes looked great on the outside but raw in the middle, Cabbages, Cauliflower in sauce, that were watery and overcooked. We stopped going their, after giving them so many second chances. The Breakfast was horrendous, everything was cooked to within an inch of its life. Sausages, Bacon, eggs all over done, or were reheated from the day before. On Tuesday after months we were passing, thought we would see if it had changed, NO it hadn't, veg were Ok. Yorkshire puddings, were so dry they crumpled to dust, almost, tasted like they'd been fried in Vegetable oil, NOT traditional dripping. The meat portions were measly at best, half a slice of see through Turkey and Beef, literally the smallest portions ever. The stuffing was hard outside, uncooked inside. Not impressed at all, there were only around people in the restaurant. The service staff were very polite and helpful. Unfortunately I really will not be attending this Toby Carvery again, it's been a disgrace, a complete waste of money."

"I've driven/walked past this restaurant many times and one day upon googling I was suprised to learn it was one of the best restaurants in Cambridge. So I had to make a visit. Indeed this is the best Indian restaurant that I've personally visited in Cambridge (so far). I went for the Nalli Ka Gosht and Butter Naan. The meal was an absolute delight with the tenderness and flavour of the Lamb complimenting the sauces beautifully. I will certainly have to come back and try the fish menu. Thanks for making my visit a great experience!"

"The food was lovely but there was confusion about the vegetarian meal and how to order it. Often as a Vege at a cavery you tend to wait while everyone else digs in. The same with GF. A pay and order in advance for these meals would be good so everyone can eat together. The pudding came out in bits as well so hard to eat together. However the food was very lovely, staff did their best and it was very good value for money. Vegetarian options: A variety of options."

"no good experience at all, ordered a takeaway and in the rule is zorba fantastic, but the meat was over boiled and chewy, the Bulgarian rice was dry and tasteless, the chips were soggy and undercooked and the brot was changed from a flatbread to a thick naan type brot that is not so delicious. a very disappointing experience. I'm gonna go to another one from now on. as a shame as this was my favorite withdrawal earlier, but I don't know what happened"

"a true local gem! we have come here almost a decade and eating was always consistently fantastic, and well in portions. I'd say it's one of my favorite restaurants in london. there is no possibility that some of the negative reviews here are real! We moved away from the opposite in 2018 and therefore only occasionally picked up picking up when in the opposite and recently, when I dived to gather, I met the owner briefly and it was so frightening to know he remembered us and our favourite dish was gloomy. recommended: qabuli palouw (bodied with rice cooked with roast carrots, russines, mangles and pistachios) and shirin palouw (rause with orange peel, mangles, pistachios and grated carrots. with grilled, boneless chicken carved) (the heh is deeper marinated than anything I ever tasted elsewhere and always well cooked). when they eat here, I recommend the mint tea while they wait, and for the desert the Afghan rice pudding is divine."

"24/8/20 We three middle aged SE Londoners from Lewisham are taking advantage of the Government subsidised Eat Out To Help Out scheme. I had wanted to sample the delights of Lewisham for years but had budget restrictions. This was an opportunity to redress this. We turned up on spec quite late on a Monday at 21:20 to find a large deep busy restaurant of mixed families and groups of young people, quite noisy but a good atmosphere. The staff were young too in general. The pavement tables were all full and we were taken to a table toward the back. We took seats and as the staff were so busy it took a little time to be presented with the menus I nearly grabbed them from the service station myself). They were busy though so give them credit. The music was interesting Turkish versions of popular songs, Isla Bonita included! The menu was large and varied and we chose a beer each along with the main courses, no side dishes or starters. At 22:45 A waitress popped a small plate of olives and wooden bowl of pitta bread on the table, which was welcomed. The draft Tuborg Turkish brewed) beer arrived at 22:50 and we toasted the meal to come. As it was busy the food was taking a while to arrive and we ate all the tasty olives and most of the bread. Another waiter popped over and asked if we wanted a refill, we said yes and he returned with a larger plate of olives than original which was welcome! At 22:05 the main courses started to arrive. The portions were generous, my friend especially liked the chunky Swordfish dish £14) with the trimmings. I had Fish Guvec £17), a mixed seafood with cheddar cheese topping, which was hot and delicious! Our friend really enjoyed his Salmon Tava £15). I had bulgar instead of rice as a change and it was tasty. The side salads were also good. As the evening went on the families left and the noise decreased. Others arrived quite late 22:45) but were happily served. The mains went down well and I decided to have a rice pudding so ordered it from the waiter. My friends ordered another beer I was happy) between them and the waiter said he would bring two glasses to share it, that was good of him, instead of ordering two smaller more expensive beers. I waited for the rice pudding... and waited, obviously being made fresh I thought. We chatted with the waiters as they relaxed and the back staff came out to clear up the front trays. At 11 the rice pudding finally arrived, it was in an aluminium tray and chilled! The waiter apologised as he had completely forgotten he said! We forgave him! It had been a very busy day! The staff relaxed at the end of a busy night. The EOTHO days had been busy as Friday the waiter said. By 23:05 we ordered the bill which came printed including the 50% discount for the food £9.75 each). The total was £39.25 in total and we left a £4 tip. We left at 23:15 thoroughly repeat and sated."

"I brought my parents to you as I am a big fan of the chestnut pubs and was confident they’d enjoy a meal there. We had a good afternoon but sadly did leave with some disappointments. The main disappointment was my dads roast beef. Sadly it was not enjoyable for him. The beef was very gristly and fatty, making it very difficult to cut. As a butcher, he knew sirloin shouldn’t have been this fatty, must have not been trimmed out, which was a massive shame. The rest of our food was okay, we had two fish and chips (although the batter was overdone) but I have to say the chorizo burger was lovely. When we made our waiter aware of the beef, he said he’ll tell the chef but we didn’t get anything back from him or any compensation, which could have made us feel a bit better. Overall I was disappointed from the meal and makes me think twice eating at one of your pubs again which again is a massive shame because I really do think your pubs are lovely. Will continue to come for drinks but probably not again for a meal. I hope to hear back from someone? Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £40–50 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4"

"I was with a big work group. there is something for everyone on the menu, including a handful of vegan dishes. everyone ordered apps, so I got the vegan: brot and olive oil. it was, good, broth and olive oil. there were some vegan netzen; I got the crispy tofu with cousin. tofu was good, cousin was okay. be careful when ordering: the vegan product is only dinge from the vegetarian menu without yogurt or other milk products. So they need to ask for the vegan crispy tofu, not the vegetarian."

"We had the misfortune of visiting the Hereford Road Restaurant this evening. Having lived in London for 46 years, I've never seen such rude and disinterested service from a restaurant staff . We waited 1.5 hours for a starter that didn't arrive. When we pointed out we'd waited for 1.5 hours, the dark curly haired waiter was uninterested. Refused to help and argued back with us that 1.5 hour wait was fine. We suggested maybe they give us a starter or something to make nice. They didn't. All in all, literally the worst service in London at the moment.. Avoid like the plague. The prices are outrageous at these chicken shop service levels. The head waiter should be fired. We won't be back and will continue to share our experience today."

"Lovely Turkish restaurant located around the corner from Salisbury train station. Quite quiet on a Saturday evening, but service was nice. Staff friendly and attentive. Food was lovely- and received a bowl of pitta bread before starters, but would have loved additional bowls of bread with a variety of dips. Meals came in a good timely manner after starters and portion sizes was adequate. Lovely tender pieces of meat, halloumi was delicious. Rather expensive though, chips could not be substituted for rice. Would return but too pricey. Thankyou"

"Such a lovely way to start the New Year with a lunch visit to one of my favourite restaurants in London. The front desk provides a warm welcome though I wished that the “jacket tie” dress code for men had been sustained. A well-proportioned man was hovering at the front sporting an over-large zipped up windcheater and open neck shirt. Not at all smart so I hope he was apprehended before he entered the restaurant! What next? Baseball caps on the wrong way round? Back to the good old days of proper standards please. Thanks to ever helpful House Manager, Michael Stokes, we had a delightful table which provided ample screening for our business discussion and the service was discrete but always experienced and timely. The ambience continues to exude quiet luxury. I feel the Seasonal Menu is terrific value important in a tight and high tax economy) with 3-courses offered for £47.95. My starter choice of half a dozen Carlingford Irish Rock Oysters was superb. Freshly shucked mouthfuls of sweet salty pleasure with a contrasting red wine vinegar and onion dressing. Absolute heaven on a cold winter’s day. From there, I moved to the Carving Trolley and myriad slices of tender honey roasted gammon with creamy mashed potatoes. Spinach £7.00) and French Beans £6.50) were extra but worth it. Finally, we both had the gorgeous Bread Butter Pudding which was light, sweet and sitting in a moat of delicious custard. The wine list is imperious and impelling but not so easy to find a value for money midday measure. I opted for the Tuscan Le Volte Dell’ Ornellaia 2018 for £98.00 which drank well. Plenty of fruit flavour and not too heavy. Overall the bill was a meaty £274.16 for 2 with service now at 15% but this is a very special restaurant."

"No complaints about tasting menu it was good. Matching wines ok, first good, other less so. What I do not want to get to 9 with pre-booked tasting menu, table not ready, dumps up for half an hour near a very loud wedding party, normal menu handed us over when we have already chosen. A drink was offered after 10 minutes, but we didn't want an aperitif somewhere else with friends. No real excuse. It got better when we sit down."

"We had been led to believe from the website you couldn't book a table here so we just turned up on the off chance. Turns out their website was wrong and you could book. Never the less they managed to squeeze us in. I ordered the hot dog which when it arrived a was shocked to see it looked like the cheapest sausage they could have possibly found. However, it tasted absolutely amazing so don't let that put you off! We got two cocktails as they were on a 2 for £12 offer. When the bill arrived they hadn't charged us the special offer for the cocktails. That was easily rectified however."

"My 91 year old mother has been a regular customer to this carvery for several years. She particularly likes this restaurant as she visits with family, which is a real treat for her and can choose manageable portions to suit her poor appetite. As she eats less than a child’s portion, I have often asked staff if she can have a child’s portion this request is always denied by staff. It sickens me to see other customers, both adults their children piling their plates high with obscenely amounts of food, then return for even more! I find it grossly unfair that she is always charged full price, despite the fact it’s clear to see she is elderly frail. As far as I’m concerned, she’s paying to support the cost of someone else’s gluttony."

"We tried this during lockdown, popped into the grill to see what it looked like and chatted with the owner, who gave us some samples as we were talking. We ordered lentil soup, lamb doner, lamb beyti, and arranged forcollection. When we collected the food, we picked up a huge bag, which apart from the ordered items above had 3 beautiful breads, two salads, and a home cooked rice pudding and all in huge quantities!! So the food- so the lamb doner- this is a homemade doner and was full of lamb flavour, soft, juicy with crispy edges, just amazing, served with rice and vermicelli, all fabulously cooked. The lamb beyti was divine, well flavoured lamb mince wrapped in bread, and toasted over charcoal, which lent it a Smokey flavour, with charcoal grilled tomatoes, lebnah, and rice vermicelli- totally amazing flavours. Also we had a rich chilli tomato and a flavoured Labnah sauce to go with the food. The lentil soup was different to my usual experience, as I think it had added youghurt(? but was packed with flavour, and delicious, eaten with the fluffy, Turkish breads- mmmmm delicious. And finally, the man himself- really friendly, helpful and obviously an amazing chef!! All in all a totally amazing experience, one that we’ll repeat!!"

"We went to this restaurant as a large family after a nice day out for Eid. We usually eat at Turkish restaurants and ordered a mix of BBQ, doner and very overpriced kids meals (nuggets and chips £8.95? . Compared to other restaurants, the appetisers were very small and four adults having to share one very small portions and the salad had no tomato and very dry. We had to constantly ask for things from very uninterested waiters, including Turkish bread and water. When the food arrived: the adana kebab were very small, literally half the size of other restaurants. The 2 skewers put together would equal one elsewhere. the lamb shish only 4 small cubes? very small portions of chicken doner for THAT price all the BBQ meals did not have anything next to them apart from the meat and chips no salad, no onion, no grilled tomato Also, the menu says each meal has mushroom and this was not provided. To top it off, we were given a piece of sweet and asked if we wanted tea and we said yes. A minute later, they came back to tell us there is no tea and would take 25 minutes and we felt like we were being kicked out of the restaurant with the way it was said. Since when does it take that long to make tea? When we mentioned to the waiter, the reply was 'I gave you more than enough ' This was an awful experience and ruined a very enjoyable day for us. This is not cheap and we will not recommend this to anyone."
