"So, we went to Hastings, as you do. It was a May Bank Holiday weekend. It was a Sunday. Jack in the Green festival was in full swing. So, Morris Dancers and Clog Dancers, scary people with bells, sticks, straw, make-up.true British eccentricity and we loved it. Even better for me, there was a Battala Band.So all pubs full to the gunwales, 40 minute wait for a roast. No, we couldn't do that, let's find somewhere else. We walked down the high street and found Pomegranate. The menu looked good, different, not a Sunday Roast in sight. It was centred around fish and salads.Strangely enough it was a tad late, around 3.30, when we went in, so it was virtually empty, lunch time having been and gone.We chose a glass of rose and both had the hot goat's cheese salad with beetroot and walnut. Utterly delicious, the walnuts were coated in some form of sugar, a really nice touch.Mains were a Gurnard, pan fried in. Utter etc, and a Gurnard Nicoise. Both very good, the Gurnard is a good meaty fish.Pud was a panna cota with rhubarb three ways. Again, lovely.Staff were polite and chatty, they knew the food well. We would happily return here for good clean, fresh, healthy, tasty dishes."
