"If any readers are seeking a trip down memory lane, to revisit how English food was back in the this is your place. The menu is a motley mess of Italian, Lebanese, Indian and English cuisine. I ordered linguini with a vine tomato sauce....The pasta was horribly over-cooked, seemingly by as much as ten minutes, and it floated in an insipid red soup. On top was dumped a pile of cheese, which I think might have been cheddar. I managed to eat a quarter of it. My friend's artichoke risotto was possibly worse: pure stodge as he described it. The chef was hardly challenged on the day, as we were the only two people in the restaurant (which of course was a big clue we were only there as every other restaurant in the area was fully booked in this Christmas season). The waiter was good enough to ask how we enjoyed the food, and so we told him. He did offer to deduct one of the dishes from the bill, but it wasn't nearly enough to redeem this breathtakingly bad meal. He also said he would have a word with the chef about it; we suggested he might be do better to send him away for a cookery lesson."
