"We had been enjoying delicious meals at Portofino New Brighton for several months, but unfortunately, our recent experience has left us hesitant to return. While the food quality is typically excellent and the staff are usually attentive and helpful, we encountered some issues with a young Italian waiter who struggled with English. This language barrier led to confusion with our orders, as he often had to consult with his manager. On our most recent visit, it was the manager who took our orders, but there were discrepancies with the dishes we received. My partner's Sea Bass came with a sauce not listed on the menu, and she suspected it may not have been Sea Bass at all. The manager insisted it was, but mentioned that they sometimes change sauces without prior notice, which seemed unusual to us. Additionally, I received Ravioli instead of the Canneloni dish I had ordered, but opted not to complain after the confusion with my partner's meal. Unfortunately, the manager failed to follow up on our concerns and we left feeling disappointed. Due to this strange behavior, we have decided not to return to the restaurant and caution others to ensure their orders are accurate before accepting them. It is disappointing that Portofino New Brighton does not address customer feedback, as it suggests a lack of concern for their patrons. It is important for them to prioritize customer satisfaction and communication to avoid similar incidents in the future."

"I went to the Old Manor for a lunch time meal with my wife and we were served quickly for our drinks... However, that 's where the positive experience ends I 'm afraid. When we received our drinks we were not prompted to order food and it took a good 10 minutes after drinks to get approached for ordering food. Do bear in mind there were only 3 tables on at this time so it wasn 't Busy . We only ordered mains and nothing else, expecting it to be quick. And thankfully we did only order Mains, because if we had ordered a 3 course we would have probably been there for over 2 hours. Fast forward 45+ minutes (Yes you read that right it took over 45 minutes for our food to arrive. We ordered the Burger and the Chicken Escalope. It doesn 't take over 45 minutes during a quiet time to fry some chicken, chips and grill a burger. When we received our food the only positive really was that it was piping hot. After we started to dig in, the food was mediocre, nothing to rave about (Which is unfortunate, because The Old Manor used to be such a great place to get food. The waiting staff didn 't check up on us for the Post food delivery checkup so we ate it quickly and thankfully there were no issues with it. This isn 't the first time, however that we 've had service this bad. In the last 6 months we 've been 3 times, one of which was Mothers Day and even then it wasn 't the best and service was super slow. Overall it 's an understaffing issue, both front of house and kitchen. I do hope you take measures to improve the service here. As this has caused such a dampener on what should have been a lovely lunch with my wife. Do better."

"Once again I find myself in Westfields Stratford. As an East Londoner, the thought of trekking into Oxford treat or any area west of Liverpool Street station in general is a mission. So if I fancy topping up on some clothes, toiletries, or some recently discovered lovely home ware from H&M, then Westfield is my spot. Of course when visiting, whilst you may plan for it to be an in/out affair, it seldom is the case. All of the big windows with enticing items on display beckon your attention. Don 't get me wrong I am not an impulsive shopper, I buy only what I need, but having a browse is something I am comfortable with. I guess it also makes it bearable because the place is not mad busy. You can move around with reasonable ease. For this particular recent trip, it was time to try our The Real Greek outside on the terrace. I have run out of options here having done Busaba Eathai and Bumpkin. The Real Greek is a simple food concept. Sharing stuff on tiered plate racks. Yep, mostly that 's it. I don 't mean to sound dismissive, in fact, I like the simplicity of how you select what you want and how its delivered. You have the option of choosing lots of plates to share from the cold, hot and grilled meze or they cut down the process of choosing in half by offering you the Perfect for Sharing options for two. We opted for this at £35. 25 with 8 meze items. All good groups are covered with your carb 's, meats, fish and veg. A great selection. We opted for greek flatbread, houmous, green bean fava, prawns with feta, lamb kofte, dukkah chicken wings, falafel and saffron rice. The alternatives you could choose were just as good. On arrival we were kindly given a booth for four (there were only two of us). This is normally a no no for restaurants, but they were so friendly and accommodating. Great service. My reasoning for this table was because it was at the end of the room so I could get a better view and pics for the blog without elbowing or disturbing fellow diners. The Perfect for Sharing selection was curated by Tonia Buxton, the face of Greek Food in the UK, who is now apparently an ambassador for The Real Greek. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience following a less than satisfactory visit to the Covent Garden spot. I guess sometimes things need a second chance. I am delighted I was so forgiving, as this is quick, easy and tasting food."
