"When we visit London, we are sure to go here as it’s one of our favourite pubs. Early on a Saturday afternoon, the pub was only approximately full. We ordered two drinks on the app and waited patiently for minutes, the bar was...now free of customers and our drinks still not forthcoming. My husband went to the bar and and spoke to a middle aged sour faced woman, whom I assumed was senior as she was dressed differently to the rest of the staff dressed who were dressed in black. My husband showed her the order on the app, she called him out, said no order had been received and asked to see the email. There was no email. He then showed our online banking screen which clearly displayed the transaction for the same amount for the app order. The woman said “people say things like this all the time”, insinuating he was trying to pull a fast one and get free drinks! Some minutes passed, still no email, we were at a stalemate, she looked into the tub that housed the app order receipts and there was ours, lurking at the bottom. It has been missed. “I’ll pour these now”, she said, no eye contact, no apology, still sour faced. A friendly server brought them to our table and apologised for the wait. If that woman is running the show, she’d fair well for some customer service training, or maybe she’s in the wrong job if she despises honest customers so much. Additionally, during our stay, we had random food and drinks brought to our table, which wasn’t ours, and we politely told them so. The table next to us, said that they too had been turning away other people’s orders frequently throughout their time there. Let’s hope it’s a blip, and things get back to normal. Incidentally the email confirmation of the order only came through minutes later, so it seems it wasn’t just this particular staff member that was out of order on that day."
