"We went there on Friday evening and it was so quiet that we couldn’t find the place at the beginning. When we got there we really liked the rooms and the decor. We found menu was very small with only few options to choose for a vegetarians. Finally when the food arrived it was very small portions and the food was very average. There was no wow factor either with the taste or presentation. Food taste was like prepared in any common household kitchen. Mango lassi was nice but for a £8 feels like very expensive drink again considering the portion size. We didn’t find the experience overall value for money."

"The staff were lovely and doing their best ..even presented my 10 year olds with a small birthday plate and clap ! They were great. But the wait for the food was lonnng ! Staters after half an hour overdone dry chicken nibbles and the main course 1 hour from arriving at the restaurant !! The food was mediocre and fairly tough …burgers and ribs and the chips overcooked. The milkshakes were a success though but overall a very disappointing visit. I wouldn’t recommend Maxwells to anyone ."

"We visited to watch the Mens Wimbledon finals on a Sunday 16.07.23 to have lunch and drinks. We wanted to sit outside but the sound outside wasn 't working so we had to sit inside. A shame as the sun was out. Nevertheless the screen and sound was working inside. The food was the main problem firstly it was Wimbledon Sunday, and most of what we wanted to order on the menu was out of stock as they had run out the day before. There isn 't really an excuse for this it 's just poor planning to have 8 10 items missing. The food we did manage to order was honestly pretty bad. Nothing we would ever want to order again. We also ordered an Eton Mess which came out in a warm bowl looking like lumpy yogurt which we asked for a refund. We 'll definitely come back to the Wandle for the sport, the drinks and the ambiance but we won 't be ordering food again."

"We arrived having booked a table for 6 people on a Friday at 8pm and although the bar area was busy, the restaurant was virtually empty and we needn't had booked. The dining area is extremely dark and we could barely read the sparce menu (the menu I'd viewed online had much more on it) We ordered some drinks which took a fair while to arrive, but came with an apology about the wait. For starters we shared some small plates, which were fantastic. I would highly recommend the scotch egg. Unfortunately this was the highlight of the meal. After hearing some commotion in the kitchen our main course arrived and whilst my fish and chips was delicious, the rest of my party ordered burgers which arrived over cooked and hard,disguised in a moist brioche bun. That being said, as soon as this was pointed out, the waiter apologised profusely and immediately took them off of our bill. The waiter was absolutely amazing and really made our experience there. I would return but only for drinks and perhaps a scotch egg or two."

"LOVED IT! We were in London to visit friends and decided to drink here. We were greeted by a young man named Charlie. He was so inviting and had the greatest smile. We sat for a few drinks and decided to stay and eat because of the great atmosphere. We were lucky to be back served by Charlie and he was great and he made us feel very relaxed as if we were his only customers, although he seemed to treat everyone like that. We feel we have a new friend. Definitely a fortune for business. The food was great and everything was clean and tidy (In a little OTT with control tables and cutlery are clean) and the service top notch. Will definitely be back when we are next in London. Would definitely recommend a visit if you were in the area. Thanks for an evening!"
