Apart from being basically old and in need of repairs, the room is basically a five-star hotel. The only bad thing is that the isolation room is too noisy and I can hear people talking all the time. "I came with 2 friends and we were looking forward to a last lunch together before Christmas, But the food was very poor, I had Hunters chicken which should have come with bbq sauce but there was virtually none and the chicken was so dry and tasteless without the sauce and it was the first time I had ever had cold peas! The waitress asked if everything was ok and I said it was disappointing that it wasn’t as described, she just said she would pass that onto the chef! The manager came over after a few minutes and said he hoped we would return and the next time we came it would be better, well I’m sorry there probably won’t be a next time at least not for a meal, I don’t expect gourmet food but something edible and enjoyable would have been nice"

"I had booked a table for lunch after being attracted to the Festive Set Menu at this pub, which I had checked online beforehand. However, once we were seated, we discovered that the Set Menu was not available. After inquiring at the bar, I was informed that it was not being offered in December. I ended up ordering nachos instead, which tasted like they were from jars and were very disappointing. My friend enjoyed his turkey pie, but mentioned that the parsnip was tough. Additionally, customer parking was difficult, leading me to park at the nearby Peace Memorial Hall car park. Overall, it was an average experience and I do not plan on returning."

"the bar area was very busy and loud and our table was right next to a slot machine. confusion about my drink order, three try to get it right! the setting of a senior server was disappointing-didn not smile and seemed as if we would annoy them! eating was also extremely disappointing, as it was not better than a heat and the possibility of supply. there are no prices on the website menu and when I saw £1500 for the smokey joe burger my expectations were high. but my food came as a burger with undercut speck (not crispy as advertised) with a few fries! no extra bbq dip and no sign of the melted cheese and slowly cooked bark in a smokey sauce! we also ordered the grilled chicken and chorizo skewers, but the huh had not seen, a grill it was just white pieces of pure boiled chicken and the garn and calamari duo was over boiled / roasted pieces of food that were just bought from every super market frozen gang! we couldn't expect to get out of there!"

"Ignore the food serving times on their website, food had stopped at 2120 not the advertised 2200 so I disapointedly went hungry. Bar surface very sticky dirty for the handful of customers they had on a quiet Monday night. Garden is a mish mash of junk also shuts at 2120. They replied to my review asking me to contact them. Your opportunity to respond was while I was there, not after, just to salvage any reputation you had. My review stands."

"I have dined at this restaurant multiple times and always gave it a good rating, but last night was the final straw. We had made a reservation for a table for three people, but upon arrival, we found our table dirty with food crumbs all over it, despite having a reserved sign. It was busy, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt and asked a staff member to clean the table so we could order. After 15 minutes and no response, we asked again, but still no one came. We decided to leave without eating. This experience was absolutely unacceptable. The quality of service has declined since the previous managers and staff left. We will not be returning as loyal customers."

"Very disappointing roast. A small portion of grey tasteless beef which certainly had not been cooked fresh. Roast potatoes were not crispy, gravy tasteless and cauliflower cheese at additional charge had a cheese from a packet flavour. Booked this place based on reviews. Shocking. Surprised how quiet it was, perhaps the chef was taking leave in January!! Definitely don’t recommend."

"Decided to give this place another chance after a previous poor meal but others have recommended it. Booked a festive menu for Christmas Eve and paid a deposit. Upon arrival (early afternoon and the restaurant was empty) we were told they had run out of...festive menu, and we should have reserved one with a deposit. I explained that I had paid a deposit but was then told this had not reserved the festive menu? Decided to make the most of it as we were very unlikely to get in anywhere else at this late stage. However, the first dishes we tried to order they had run out of. Wanted to go out for a roast dinner, ended up having a (not very good) steak (without any sauce as they had run out of that too… When my steak arrived, it clearly hadn’t been rested, as my plate was swimming in blood. However the steak was also cold, so I have no idea how they managed to serve a cold steak which hadn’t been rested? The lady who served us was extremely apologetic, but I must admit that despite her best efforts, we will not be back."

"Food was nice but asked to get 2 desserts to take away, absolutely disgraceful! Dessert was wrapped in tin foil! Had to send the Eaton Mess back as there was NO meringue, just whipped cream from a can and a bit of raspberry sauce and when I got it in a container there was about a tablespoon of meringue on top! The bottom of the container is about the size of my palm!! Two mouthfuls and it was gone!! The cheesecake was smaller then the size of a pen and very dry/stale. The price I paid for it, £5.75 EACH!!! Was not even worth the price of one. Never again"

"Our children took us here to celebrate my wife's upcoming birthday. We ordered our food, and at the same time we told the member of staff that was taking our order that we had a voucher via email for free dessert for all within the group. When asking to pay the bill, we was asked to show the email with the free dessert, my wife who had the voucher via email was asked by the waitress if she could take her phone and show this to a Member of staff, not sure if she was a manager, but she was not the most happiest person in the pub, she even came over and asked my wife if she could forward the email to an address so they could look into this, as they were not aware of this, yes they onourd the offer, but made us feel very uncomfortable about it. I will say the food was great, but the atmosphere was not so good, all the staff was ignoring each other, like it was all there first day on the job. We will not be going there again, first time, last time."

"Nice pub! I called ahead to book a table for 11 for Christmas, but they couldn’t fit us in. On the day of our reservation, we walked in because the other place we had booked was only serving a set menu, and we needed a quick lunch. Thankfully, the ET was able to accommodate us on short notice. I’m still giving it 5 stars because we all enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. However, I do wonder why they couldn’t have reserved a table for us when I called earlier, as it would have saved us a lot of hassle since this was our first choice. Perhaps another group canceled, and we were lucky enough to benefit from it. Thank you, ET! I would definitely visit again."

"Had lunch today at the King's Head. On arrival, the bar service was good. Sat at a window seat... it was not good to see a dirty table chair with stains on the seat... Food ordered easily, but such a disappointment; fish chips...should be simple to cook, but so little fish and so much batter all dry... Also the King's Head was so noisy with children screaming.... There was an event nearby cordoned off, but this made not difference. Despite this being our local, we won't return in a hurry. Management with respect take this comment on board. A one off function may pay a lot, but locals calling in regularly is better in the long run…."

"Downloaded the app. Nothing worked. Ordered at the bar, paid £2.25 extra for beef on my burrito bowl. When it came out, there was literally 5g of beef and sauce added to the smallest burrito bowl I have ever seen. The bowl itself was fine. But if I had paid just £10 for the bowl itself, as standard, I would have been furious. But then having paid £2.25 for an extra 5g of beef. After asking for an opinion from the staff (who were extremely helpful), it sounded like they either agreed and didn’t want to comment, or didn’t really know what a standard protein portion on a standard meal should be. Ground beef is cheap. Slow cooked ground beef is low maintenance, cheap easy to prepare. My concerns about the portion sizes were confirmed when I was brought out a 2nd portion of the beef… which appeared to be no more than 10g of beef (if you were being generous), and a lot of sauce. For context. At home, you could make 500g of the same thing for around £5.00… and as a business, buying at wholesale, bulk prices, you can make it a lot cheaper. So even if you were serving a standard portion of protein 20 30g for an adult you’d still make money, if you were buying wagyu ground beef from waitrose. If you are looking for decent food… give this one a miss. The service and drinks are all standard for a chain pub, its just the food that is a scam. Staff were 10/10 though, and brought me out a 2nd portion, with no drama. But even 2 portions of that beef wasn’t really enough protein for an adult. And there was far too much sauce to cover the fact that there was hardly any beef"
