"This is a great Thai restaurant, and although the menu is pretty traditional, the flavour is excellent and portions fairly large, on that basis alone I’d definitely recommend a visit as one of the better Thai restaurants I’ve been to in London. Other reviewers have complained about the overly attentive waiting staff, and it’s fair to say you do see a lot of them, including clearing plates throughout the meal which is a little odd. So I’d avoid this place if you want to have a deep conversation, but for casual dining it’s not the end of the world and in fairness the staff are incredibly friendly. One other weird feature of this restaurant is that they bring starters and mains at the same time. While they do explain this when you order, it seems like a kitchen geared up for takeaway which can’t be bothered adapting to phased table service. To be clear, it’s understandable in small plates (e.g. tapas) restaurants to receive each dish as it comes, but this is not that you will literally get two plates of spring rolls/dim sum alongside two large bowls of Pad Thai. The waitress also warns you in their introduction that you should give them 10 15 minutes warning before you need the bill (it didn’t take that long in reality). This again gives a bit of an impression that the service is set up for the convenience of the staff rather than the customers. There appeared to be plenty of front of house staff and the restaurant is quite small, so I’m not sure why all these accommodations from customers are needed. I stress this point because this really is a great restaurant, that has just made some annoying choices with how they serve their excellent food. It’s still a four star place, with potential."

"When you dine out, it’s not just about the food but the experience as well. While we enjoyed the food (though perhaps a bit on the salty side) our experience at Mien Tay was quite poor. While the tables around us got their food within ten minutes, we were left waiting for more than 30 minutes for our meal to arrive. We ordered a couple of beers, a starter, and a main. However, from the moment the order was taken to its late arrival we were not once visited by our server – never to say that the food was going to take a bit of time nor that it was almost done. Just silence. The beers did arrive 10 minutes after we placed our order, but given they were just bottles even that seemed late. The water we asked for never arrived, which proved to be problematic given the over salty fish. We had specifically ordered a starter to allow the lengthier cooking time we assumed for the sea bream. This, apparently, was lost on the staff. We were actually just about to walk out in disgust when the food arrived. When I expressed our displeasure to our server, he simply said “I just work here, talk to the bar downstairs.” Hardly an acceptance of fault nor any attempt to make up for the extremely lengthy delay. We raised the point again at the till as we were leaving, but we were simply brushed aside: “the fish takes a long time to cook.” There are so many Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Think carefully about choosing this one if you care for a timely meal and for properly being waited on."

"my friend and I wanted to pick up and have had a request for Vietnamese food, we wanted to meet somewhere that was half a point for her and me and I jumped quickly on the open table to find a Vietnamese restaurant in the surrounding areas. caphe came up and we were glad that we could grab a table for 7.30 on a sa in such a short time. when we arrived, there was another person who had eaten alone, and while we were there, there was another table or a farewell, etc., only we! the service (again it was an empty restaurant was elementary, the young waiter was 't rude, but was, we will say very tactless as if I mention that I had a heavy prawn allergy (anaphylaxis sufferer his answer was good, not order the dishes with garnel in it. I have put this on his ignorance and said it is a serious matter and I tell them that they can check with the kitchen that I will not be served any dishes containing garnels. the dishes were good portions (especially good value for money, although the broth to my pho was quite salty and we had to ask them twice to come and fill our teekanne and water again. again it was interesting that my question regarding my allergy took that seriously in consideration of the salat we asked came with garn crackers sitting on the top. because it was our first time in the restaurant, I am uncertain if it was just one of them that the restaurant was so quiet or whether it was to serve or something else."

"I ordered the tofu pad Thai, which had been delicious in the past. However, when I took a bite, I realized that what I thought was tofu was actually chicken. Since I don't eat meat, this was really disappointing. I called the restaurant to request a refund, and they said they would process it. Unfortunately, I won't be ordering from them again, which is a real shame because their food has always been great until now."

"Ordered a takeaway from Wei Dao for 4 Singapore Noodles and a Beef in BB Sauce. Great food noodles had that oomph taste and was quite crisp. I would happily recommend Wei Dao to anyone looking for a tasty, less greasy, bang for the buck, healthy Chinese takeaway. The guys running the place was swell as well. My wife was allergic to prawns and the Singapore Noodles did have them. The note I placed with the online order to avoid adding them to one of the noodles was unfortunately overlooked, perhaps being a busy Saturday evening. I called them to complain once I reached home. The person who picked up was so graceful, that he kindly suggested to provide me with another one without prawns and even threw in a few Spring Rolls as a good will gesture. When I offered to return the original one, he insisted to keep it for the family on the house. Was quite amazed with their response, and when I reached to collect the food, they apologized unreservedly. A fine experience altogether. Thomas"

"We visited Koto Restaurant on North Parade for Sunday lunch for the first time, and we wish we had tried it sooner. The ramen broth was incredibly delicious, with a gentleman next to us remarking that it tasted just like what he had in Japan. The menu was straightforward and easy to order from, with both the broth and noodles being homemade and preservative-free. The food was healthy, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The only downside was that they do not take reservations, so there may be a wait. Overall, I would rate the food at Koto Restaurant as some of the best in Oxford."

"I can only assume we attended on a bad day. Food was very average at best and extremely expensive for what it was. Not a Thai person in sight and so lacking in charm. The service was provided by an odd selection of waiters, one of whom unshaven and in shorts looked as though he had just stepped out of the pub. The outside front of the restaurant resembled a building site. So, disappointing, sorry. Cannot be recommended as it stands."

"we stumbled on a rainy Sunday afternoon over the bones of daddies and I will be back to any case. in a newly renovated corner has bone daddies a new take on a traditional Japanese restaraunt. the service was timely and consistent, but the most important factor that the ramen delivered was exactly what we hoped. perfectly boiled eggs, fresh pasta and the possibility of pork or chicken bones with a lot of drinks to accompany their trembling of choice. the only limiting factor is the price that has put us back a bit, which forces us to return only once in a past and warn us to order side. one of the best options for a meal in shoreditch!"

"I was really excited to dine at this restaurant after reading reviews! It is a small bistro-style restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. The meal started off well with crispy duck and pancakes, which is why I have given it 2 stars. However, the crispy noodles and Nasi Goreng, while they looked good, lacked flavor. I had to ask for chili oil for the noodles, but it didn't help much. The Nasi Goreng, a well-known Indonesian spiced rice dish, was disappointing – just basic fried rice with a prawn cracker on the side. The service was not great, with no follow-up drinks offered and dirty plates left uncleared until we asked for the bill. The total came to £77, including 1 beer, a bottle of wine, and an undeserved 10% service charge. It was definitely not worth the money. I'm sorry to say, but there are many restaurants to choose from in London, and I would recommend avoiding this one."

"We plumped for the set menu, selecting a start each to share and both had the Chicken Shish for mains. A word of warning, the houmous was lovely, however appeared not to be homemade and was served unceremoniously in a pile on a plate with no pita bread. The chicken was a little over cooked and the rice lacked flavour. The presentation showed they some ideas of making things look good, however it looked a little silly on the plate. My friend ordered a diet coke, she watched the waitress open a can, pour some into a glass, bring it over, then her colleague drank the rest, so we asked for the rest of the can please (as we were paying for it), they seemed surprised, had to open a second can, fill a glass and then bring her what was left in that one!! Getting anyones attention was a challenge except when it came to us paying, they tried to take it before we had placed all the money down.I will most likely not be returning anytime soon."

"I was in London for a business meeting and stopped for a chocolate drink at this cafe. i ordered and sat down on a long bench(seat) inside the cafe. I felt a slight scratch on my legs but thought nothing of it until about 5 minutes later the scratch had turned into full blown allergy reaction to what turned out to be bug bites. I telephoned the cafe to discuss this and really to alert them so that they can fumigate the cafe to stop someone else being bitten. I left messages on their voicemail 2x but no one bothered to call me back. Very disappointed. I am also sure that other people have/will be bitten in this cafe."

"Great KOREAN Foodie! Have been pleased to taste with Beef BULGOGI and Chicken BIBIMBAB! Everything was full of fresh veg and lots of this Asian country flavours. Together with Korean lager and PEAR Soft Drink seems to make a perfect match! Priced less than £30 for everything and based in Old City quarter of Bristol gives us great chance to get some valuable street food experience. Cool think was possibility to self ordering everything by tablet station which makes everything faster. The biggest problem of that place is ventilation system lots of frying and other smells circulating constantly in interiors and left odor on your clothes. Could be much better with cleanliness. But overall this was really enjoyable visit and quite sure not the last one"
