"In July 2019 I gave Wongs an absolute 100% review. At that time we used to go to Bristol especially to visit Wongs for our special treat. We took lots of people there and they would have all agreed. It was fabulous. So today as a ‘special treat’ we took some friends there as a trip down memory lane. It was an unmitigated embarrassing disaster. We were the ‘only’ 4 in the restaurant. We were served by a scruffy disinterested old man that looked as if we’d interrupted his DIY. The toilets were filthy, the Ladies toilet was out of order. Ordered Gin and Tonics. They arrived like warm in the wrong glasses with no ice and no lemon. Two of us had dumpling starters which were out of a packet and tasteless. My sweet and sour pork was almost cold and the veg raw. The other 3 mains were equally bad. The dirty plates were waiting an hour to be collected until eventually we had to ask. We ordered coffee which was undrinkable instant chicory. The bill was an unbelievable £160 for a meal we could have bought at a takeaway for maybe £45/50 and it would have been far better. The whole horrible experience was one I would rather forget and we certainly will not be returning. A great shame because it used to be ‘the best’. As we left I notice the other Chinese in the Street was packed full. I wonder why."
