"I ordered this as a special valentines meal. I knew the main meal prices were expensive but I was shocked to receive a phone call stating I had to spend a minimum of 20 per person on food.. This wasn't stated anywhere on the booking! I arrived 20 minutes early and was shown to the bar and ordered drinks and said I was happy to accept my table early if available.. Half a hour later I was still waiting for my table yet had seen couples without a reservation get seated straight away so was a little surprised that I had to ask if my own table was ready and not be called over by the host. I ordered the minimum 40 worth of food and ordered 2 starters and 3 main meals. The starters came promptly but this is where the problems continued.. The portion sizes were tiny, 6 vegetable spring rolls which you could eat in one mouthful. During this time and all through out the service, I had different waiters bringing me more starters that I did not order and even the tables next to me had to refuse food 3 times which they did not order. Once the starters had been cleared, the mains were promptly brought over apart from the 1/4 duck.. So we had the sweet and sour chicken (tiny portion yet again) and beef noodles.. A server came over to me and confirmed my name an asked if I had a booking for 7 people whilst I was eating my meal! I was a bit confused by this as the meal kept getting interrupted. Another waiter was hovering over me waiting for me to take my plate whilst I was still eating! The duck never came by it self, I had to ask where it was.. If I didn't have a minimum spend I would have asked for it to have been deducted. Once the duck was cleared, we had another server ask us if we had finished our starters! Once the bill came it wasn't itemised and just stated Food: ?? And drink ?? Overall it was a thoroughly disappointing experience and sadly won't be turning up again as Ive never had such poor service. Such a shame."

"We booked this 3 months in advance and asked specifically for a window seat. When we arrived, we were seated at the table furthest away from any window.. near to the toilets and the function room! We could just see other customers, we were probably the only people with no view. As groups left, 4 tables near to or by the window became free. So we asked politely to order food and also to move to ANY CLOSER TABLE so we could see anything that resembled a view.. we were told everyone wants a window seat though . These 2 of the 4 were tables left empty for the duration of our booking and the worst bit, was new groups arrived and were seated in the others by the window in front of our eyes. There was obvious discrimination going on here. The only reasons we could fathom as to why they would do this and be so rude are: We were 3 females all other tables had a male in the group and/or they were being racist as one of our friends is Asian. We were so disappointed as this was meant to be a birthday treat and it was ruined by the staff and their lack of accommodation. Also we were beautifully dressed and some customers arrived in jeans and trainers like they 'd just walked in off the streets? Dress code? The Sky Lark in New York was absolutely amazing and this place needs to take a leaf out of their book. Overall would never recommend and we won 't be returning."

"When you arrive outside it’s not obvious you are arriving at a restaurant, it’s such a vast building. You step inside and there is a massive staircase! There is a lift! No reception at street level so you are a little unsure as a result of that there is a restaurant there!. But we ventured upstairs to see what was there and saw a big sign for the restaurant. Saw 2 sets of double doors. Went in, lots of diners, but nobody to actually greet us. Stood there about 30 seconds before we just walked in to the room more and THEN someone made contact. Probably need to work on their meet n greet procedures. Anyway. Great table overlooking the water with far reaching views to the city. I had requested a round table which was near the window and they had it exactly as I requested. Service was good, and our waitress was smiley. Went for set menu. We had someone in our party with a moderate nut allergy. There menu clearly asks you if you have allergies and to let them know. Which we did. She advised they not eat the aromatic duck as nuts are involved in the cooking but in our food selection that was the only item. The food was great. There were 6 of us but we ordered set menu for 5 people and it was enough food with very little left over. They should really improve the entrance with some signage and have a better reception desk as you walk in to the place but that’s my only real suggestion for improvement. Food is not radically amazing but it’s good Chinese, served hot, tasted good. Nobody voiced any issue with food, we had a great laugh too, felt relaxed and service was not overly intrusive. We had 3 bottles of wine, which is sensibly priced. Total bill including wine and starter platter as part of the set menu was £40 each including service charge, which we all thought was good value. Just needs more kerb appeal and I think it would improve the place a lot. But would go again for sure."
