"Visited Desvins while I had some time to spare. After seating myself was promptly approached by a server, who took my order. I ordered a champagne cocktail and the coq au vin. It was simply divine. However, the only downside to the afternoon was that, while eating, i was not offered any refreshment even when my glass was empty, even when trying to signal for service. They have some fantastic staff in the kitchen. Well worth coming for a bite to eat even if the servers seem a little inexperienced."

"Great atmosphere and the owner, a lovely lady came out of her way to ensure we were enjoying our rest and superb coffees. We took our 9 month old Cocker spaniel in too and she was straight away provided with her own water bowl. Well worth a visit just off the Golden Mile"

"Jessica our server and the other lady who brought the wine were exceptionally friendly and warm! The Malbec we chose was alright, didn’t love it… The bread and starter we had were mediocre and not much care in the presentation. We didn’t enjoy the steak as it was over cooked and pretty tasteless. There was no red wine or peppercorn sauce so went for the gravy which had no taste either! And was charged £3+ for it! The good thing at the end was a cake for my mum for free for her birthday and the manager took 10% off the bill. Thank you for that. It’s such a shame as the restaurant itself is lovely. However, I feel the kitchen needs to add a little love to the food."

"Visited here with a friend after recommendation locally. Lovely, clean, welcoming place in the Friary grounds. Staff are so polite and caring, it was a pleasure to visit. Excellent basic food including fishfinger butties which are highly recommended , freshly prepared. They even offer to put more boiling water on your pot of tea without extra charge that is very rare! The cakes are superb. We only tasted then on the grounds of research ! but just don't miss them. This place is very small but popular locally, well worth a lunchtime visit."

"Called in here for Breakfast and it was very good. Well supported even at 10-00 am We ordered from their large selelection for breakfast dishes and were not disappointed when our 2 poached eggs on 2 slices of toast, nicely presented arrived. I do not need Watercress on my poached eggs at that time in the morning..or any time for that matter! They were busy getting ready for valentines Day offers and Afternoon Tea seemed to be very popular so I was told, by the friendly chatty staff! Offering a good selection of usual dishes, nicely decorated room, light and very clean, good position before heading into St Ives. Good plant centre as well. Ample parking and disabled access from the car park . Free WiFi..."

"This was the best decision of the day. We stopped in for a snack and a coffee, and were pleasantly surprised by the exceptionally delicious chicken gizzards. The juicy thigh meat was full of flavor. My wife, who is quite particular about her sausage, enjoyed the bratwurst scorpse and only wished that it was larger - not because it was small, but because she wanted more of it. The coffee was also delicious, much better than what you would find at a chain cafe. The service was excellent, efficient, and friendly. We highly recommend this place."

"went to lunch and was told by the waitress that the restaurant is closed, finally after much back and forth she came back to say yes they could dinate in the restaurant, but only order from the bar menu that is quite limited, especially when they look forward to a proper lunch. so ended with a moderate eiersandwich, which was mostly mayo. the waitress was quite out of hand, ish and repulsive. the whole place smells old and was quite empty, the chairs are worn and dirty and shady look. not impressed! really beautiful reasons. but this is just the rettung of gnade."

"A great 100% plant based café and bar in the heart of Keswick. A varied menu selection and some lovely coffee and too. We chose from the breakfast selection and all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we got to warm ourselves by the cosy fire. As a party of 6 vegetarians and vegans it is so nice to find a gem of a place like this. Lovely decor too, a rarity in vegan establishments. We will definitely be returning during our stay in Keswick to sample their churro's with peanut butter sauce!"

"Visited after the stags match and before a night out. It was busy as the other spoons around the corner has shut. You'd think there'd be more staff behind the bar as it was busy. Took ages to get served. We had food and drinks ordered through the app after. It wasn't long before the drinks arrived, the food wasn't long after. We both had scampi and chips with a side order of onion rings. Both were good as usual. The lack of service may put me off going again."

"We were in the area and wanted to grab a bite to eat. This pub was perfect for food, with a variety of menu options and fast service. However, the atmosphere and seating felt a bit uncomfortable if you're not a local. We didn't have many seating options and ended up sitting near the bar because the eating area was reserved only, even though it remained empty the whole time we were there."

"Union of Genius has a short but ever changing menu offering really unusual and tasty soups, home made bread, salads and the staples, chilli chicken and vegan chilli. It is quite literally the best vegan chilli in Edinburgh bit like dying and floating to heaven on a tortilla. I even wrote to them and asked for the recipe and they gave me it, but when I tried to re create it, it was nowhere near as good. If you need healthy, soul warming food, you won’t be disappointed. There are a limited number of seats so if you’re lucky you can get one, otherwise it’s take out. Did I mention that the staff are lovely too?"

"Booked her for our anniversary. Location perfect Quiet and out of the way Greeted by the owner Angela who gave us a very warm welcome and showed us to our room. We were the only ones booked in that night due the bad weather and very high winds. This did not matter and we were asked if we’d like to have dinner Felt bad that they were just cooking for us but nothing was too much trouble We came down for dinner where a fire had been lit for us so it was very cosy. Menu was basic but reasonably priced and very tasty Scoffed the lot! A good nights sleep followed by a freshly cooked breakfast with plenty of toast and refills of coffee and tea Angela gave us some ideas of places to go on our way home i.e Castell y bere Very pretty ruins Angela and Brian were perfect hosts and huge Game of Thrones fans so we had a lot to talk about Thank you for making our stay a memorable one"

"On a damp and blustery day, we stumbled upon this charming tea room. Despite nearing closing time, we were greeted with a warm welcome and they graciously kept the doors open for us. We enjoyed delicious toasted sandwiches accompanied by a fresh salad, crispy crisps, and flavorful coleslaw. The highlight was undoubtedly the best scones we've ever had, served with tea in a charming teapot. The food was excellent, the staff was lovely, and the prices were very reasonable. We highly recommend this eatery and will definitely be returning for another visit. A perfect 10 out of 10 rating from us!"

"Very disappointed with this cafe, staff were not very nice, cake was loaded with granulated sugar on top.. Coffee was cold and they came out and announced that the bill was £13.00 even before I had had a sip of my coffee. The bathroom has no light and i had to leave the door open to see!! My friend was told to leave the bathroom as it was for customers only! When he told the man we were customers he stomped off."

"What a fantastic place and with perhaps the most professional and tender staff I have met in a long time. All were a credit to the industry. The table had decorations on it for my mums 70th birthday and a happy birthday blackboard I didn’t ask for this so was such a nice touch. The food and mood of the place remains authentic to the Motown mood but guess what… the flaming juke box wasn’t working the reason why I brought my 70 yr old mam to the place was so she could press the buttons and lose herself to the music! Noted later though when we had overstayed our welcome that the juke box miraculously started to work 2.30 table booking but still there 6pm) such a shame! Keep the juke box working whilst the business is open would be my suggestion. Sometimes people are invested in simple things like listening to music and come descent distances to do so! Other than that, super food, mood and attentive staff."

"This was the perfect ending to an amazing day in the Highlands. After a 10-minute drive from our hike up Devil's Staircase, we arrived at the restaurant feeling a bit wet, exhausted, and parched in the early afternoon. It turned out to be a wonderful place to refuel and recharge! I opted for one of the daily specials: a steak pie paired with a beer, and it was just what I needed. Some members of our group enjoyed a delicious tomato basil soup, while others went for hamburgers or chicken. We also shared a sticky toffee pudding, which was possibly the best version of this classic dessert we encountered during our travels in Scotland (and we tried quite a few!). If the restaurant is busy when you arrive and your group is all over 18, you can head around to the entrance of Boots, a large bar that connects to the restaurant. You’ll place your order at the bar, providing your table number, and they will deliver your food. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy a satisfying meal after a day of hiking!"

"We arrived in the area near the airport with some extra time on our hands, so I did a quick online search and came across this gem. What a discovery! The menu features a wonderful selection of freshly prepared dishes, all made to a high standard. The staff here are welcoming and friendly, making our experience even better. "We were at this restaurant over the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. The deluxe pods were excellent- clean, spacious, and equipped with everything we needed. We came with friends and had two pods next to each other. We loved the place, especially for children (gatekarts were a nice touch). The location is excellent for exploring the surroundings. The BBQ hut was fantastic. The staff, location, and facilities were all great. We will definitely be returning. Thank you."
