"Whilst this in a great location next to the river, this appears to be all its got going for it. This is my first go at Venezuelan food and this has not encouraged me to try again. The food was either tough, dry, tasteless or just cold. Plaintain originates from my country too and I used to the sweetness of the taste when my gran used to cook it at home. Here they either cannot get hold of ripe bananas or think they can cheat the English palete because they do not know better. Reality check, I do. I have pork shreddings which was soooo dry it felt like it had sat there the whole day only to land on my plate when I arrived at Not keen on this one at all. Nowt more to say really except it seems to be the fate of canalside dining. Had the same medicore dining experience at nearby Proud. It looks like its views over standards."

"Extortionately overpriced for basic pub grub, plus poor service and no allergen menu. First of all, my wife and I regularly frequent very high end establishments. This isn’t what you would expect at this price point. The location is beautiful, the staff are well dressed and courteous, however, the decor on the wild carrot is tired and the food is 50/50… read on… On arrival we were seated at a dark table with no view, when there were plenty of nicer tables it was quite quiet . We shortly asked to move which was a waste of of our time. My wife has an egg allergy and was horrified to discover they had no allergen menu they could share with us, plus the two waiters said they had no idea about allergens so had to check with the chefs each time, which made us nervous. I’m fairness the cocktails were good. The Wild Carrot starter, which was meant to have rainbow radishes and crudités was a £0.75p £1 bag of mixed leaf salad you’d get in a supermarket with some cherry tomatoes and sliced carrot, no radish. The fish and chips had thick undercooked doughy batter and they hadn’t removed the skin on the fish. The chips were supermarket chunky McCains type frozen chips and undercooked. For £28 I expect far, far better. This was more £18 pub grub at best. My mushroom toast was excellent and the mushroom pasta was also good but the side of fries for which I didn’t ask the cost was £8 !! they were limp and flavourless, essentially KFC/McDonalds level when not fresh, small portion too. My wife left about 30 40% of her food it was so bad, I ate mine as I’m more stubborn, but in hindsight, it really wasn’t worth the money as experiences of that price point should be equal, certainly not compatible to pubs and takeouts. The correct cutlery wasn’t laid out and our water wasn’t topped up once. To make matters worse, they added 15% to the bill but didn’t bring the itemised bill, just put the total on the card machine and brought that, at this point we just paid up and made for the exit. A totally embarrassing set up with incompetent staff and horrendous poor quality produce and cooking. Felt like daylight robbery and ruined our day. Read the other reviews, there’s a running theme for being overpriced and disappointing here and it’s letting what looks to be a very nice hotel down. Everything needs changing here except the cocktails and the mushroom toast starter. Also, other reviews are correct, wild kids everywhere, no wild carrots in sight. AVOID."

"I had a wonderful experience celebrating my birthday here. The service was excellent, the food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, and the ambiance was lovely. I hope to return on a day when it's not raining so I can fully appreciate the beautiful surroundings and grounds."

"As always absolutely delicious food set in a small and informal restaurant. Every dish is incredibly tasty that’s coming from someone who isn’t usually into Peruvian food. Whether it’s the bottomless brunch or a “normal” meal this place is highly recommended and the only downside i can think of is that the extractor fans in the open kitchen don’t get rid of the food smells so you’ll need to wash your clothes after being there which is slightly aggravating (but it’s still worth a visit"

"amazing eating! I was in her other position that is as beautiful as the river, but I loved the bethnal green for the inner and it is also much bigger! the owner is so beautiful and when I say I am obsessed with their chips when they go there and order nothing else that get chips! the cocktails are also great and I saw that they have 2for1 happy deal hour!"

"Interesting, adventurous 'nikkei cooking, in a bright corner spot over-looking the common. The Thursday-Friday lunch at £19.50 is a steal; recommend the mochi cheese bread w truffle as an add-on. Lovely marble counter bar and excellent, knowledgeable friendly service from Elisa and the team. They opened in 2019 so were hit hard by lockdown and are pretty much starting afresh; definitely worth a visit to try the food and support the kind of restaurant that London is short of. Independent, delicious and reasonable. The all day weekend brunch menu looked pretty good too."

"Amazing food and service. If you want to try Venezuelan food, this is the place. The guayoyo was delicious and the tostones were a good portion l, totally unexpected and delicious. The taste of the meat and chicken was perfect and the cachapa was fulfilling. They offered vegan and vegetarian options and they have vegan churros. If you love tres leches and can have dairy I will tell you to order it! We will come back. Really nice place"

"Incredible, authentic Mexican food. Me and my partner both agreed that the enchiladas were the best thing we’d eaten in a very long time! The portion sizes were great and the food was incredibly flavourful. As a vegan foodie myself, it’s rare to get such amazing food outside of a specifically vegan restaurant I genuinely didn’t feel like I was missing out with the dairy free cheese and oat cream that the chef used... he really worked wonders! The mushrooms were rich and the salsa was perfectly spiced. My (meat loving date had the chicken, as well as trying some of mine, and agreed that both were equally as delicious! The atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly and helpful a real hidden gem!! We’ve raved about Viva la Mexicana to all our friends and will definitely be returning :"

"I found the atmosphere to be relaxing and enjoyable. Even though the restaurant was quite the sense of relaxation was very nice. I had the Potato Skins with cheese and ham followed by the steak, mushroom and mustard sauce on a bed of tagliatelle. The sauce for me was very smooth and tasted like velvet with a very subtle kick. The side salad what plentiful and crisp with bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and cucumber. The dressing was very sharp and sweet that cut across the pallet nicely. Unfortunately I was unable to try the deserts but went with the vanilla ice cream again very nice. Thank you guys please keep up the excellent service and work."

"I wanted so badly to love this place, but it just fell short. Incredibly small portion sizes with a huge price tag. They melted mozzarella cheese and called it queso , which came with 3 mini soft tortilla shells (no, not fried like tortilla chips). I had the vegetable quesadilla, which had absolutely no cheese in it at all. It looked exactly like my friend 's taco. I 'm not sure what they think a quesadilla is, but it surely isn 't shaped like a taco. The only thing remotely close to authentic mexican cuisine was their mexican rice, which was clearly the saving grace here. The quesadilla I had was layered with a sauce that was so spicy I lost feeling in my tongue after the first bite. Despite their wrongdoings, the manager was incredibly friendly and personable. However, after eating, the restaurant picked up quite quickly and we had to wait almost an hour for our bill. It was quite frustrating, being that we were only in London for 2 days and had very limited time."

"I have been here a few times, and the service has always been a bit slow, but we got sat was told that there is a 2h max seating time. We waiting 15min before we asked to find some to take our order, still no one, then another 15, before we had to ask again. Over 30min gone we finally got someone to our table. Drinks didn’t come with garnish/straw. No water was filled in our glasses after asking multiple times. The food was just okay. Waiter was no where to be found to order anything wise, check in the table or pay…very disappointing to say the least."

"My favourite is the fish taco and the fried chicken taco! Love love love! I loved it so much I went back the next following weekend. Next time I hope to try the plate of fried chicken! Also, if this place was to ever to the baha fish taco as a sandwich...I would be all over that!"

"The appetizers we ordered were delicious with generous portion sizes, and both the pho and tom yum we tried were outstanding—full of flavor and a good portion as well. Overall, we had a fantastic night at Phosmiths and will definitely return many times until we move out of the area. We can’t believe it took us so long to discover this absolute gem right at our doorstep!"

"We had been eagerly anticipating our visit to Lima for quite some time, having even postponed our original reservation due to being stuck abroad on my birthday. The wait, however, was absolutely worth it. The set lunch menu was nothing short of stunning—a true work of art in every course, both visually and in taste. The recommendations for both drinks and food were spot on, and the service was attentive and friendly. To top it all off, the staff remembered that this visit was originally meant to be a birthday celebration and surprised me with a sweet treat. We can't wait to return—it was excellent!"

"Visited early on a Saturday evening. Not to busy and staff were friendly and attentive. The food was lovely, choice of 3 mains and a specials board. The prices are reasonable given the difficult situation for independent restaurants at the moment. The cheese board was exceptional, the best I've had in a restaurant (including michelin star restaurants) the garibaldi biscuits are homemade by the chef. Also an extensive drinks menu. I'm not local but will definitely come back when I next in the area."

"I arrived at this restaurant last week for my boyfriend's birthday only to find that it had closed down with no warning! This was incredibly disappointing, especially since I had received a confirmation text from Open Table the day before. We had to quickly find an alternative option, which turned out to be good, but the experience was still very disappointing."
