"Good evening, On Saturday of this month (January), I made a reservation for people at Coast to Coast Restaurant and I always use open table everytime I go there with family, friends or my husband. I also use this (Open table) to any other nice restaurants in London and I have never had a problem. When we got there at the time of our reservation, the guy that was as the Host position or in the Reception welcoming all the people was so rude (he was bald as I don’t have his name). We got there, said we had a reservation, and he said he didn’t have anything then we showed him the confirmation from OpenTable and his words were: “I don’t have anything, sorry”. WHATS IS THAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Is AWFUL. I get there can be some mistakes but it is unacceptable the way he answered to a place we go to enjoy with friends and then this just makes it not want to come back. I go to loads of different restaurants and they have never treated us like that. If they are not gonna have the reservations then don’t promotion your restaurant in OpenTable cause it makes it an inconvenient believing you have something and then realizing you don’t."

It is rare to encounter such personalized attention these days, but Keith made our experience truly memorable. "This was my first visit to The Fighting Cocks, although my wife and local ladies eat there regularly, also my friends. To begin with the decor and ambeience was excellent and l looked forward to my meal. The waitress recommeded an ale to me which was very good and we selected our meals from the menue. The starter was superb and as good as most restaurants around us, but this is where my experience ended, as the duck l ordrered was teribble and so tough. l tried cutting it to small pieces, but this was very difficult with a blunt knife and tough meat and eventually put a piece in my mouth and tried to chew it. After masticating it for some time l swallowed, but it stuck in my throat and would not go down despite drinking some beer. Being in some discomfort l was eventually forced to go to the gents and try to regurgititate it in order to remove or swallow it, all of which was an unpleasant experience. Eventually after several attempts it finally went down and l was able to return to our table, but no longer wanted to consume any more and we paid the bill and left. l have had problems with tough meet before and should probably not have ordered duck, which is often very chewable. l have to accept part of the blame as l am not a big meat eater and your staff and restaurant is very nice. This has obviously coulored my judgement somewhat, however it would not put me off revisiting The Fighting Cocks or recommending it to other sand my wife will continue to enjoy meals there. My wife and l eat out a great deal, mostly top class restaurants (Rules in London, The Coach House at Ruxley, Dua Mici Chistelhurst, Giacomo 's Weald, Bartella 's Meopham, Harrods and others so appreciate good food, so am happy to put this down to an unfortunate experience with duck, which has to be cooked well to be tender. Please accept this as fair critcicsm with no wish to cause you trouble. Regards. Brian Edwards."

"Very disappointed. Have been here many times and have always enjoyed it. The menu has changed and unfortunately not for the better. The lovely menu has gone along with the specials board. Menu used to include dishes such as sea bass and salmon along with classical dishes such as sausages and mash and liver and bacon. It has now been replaced with scampi and chips,pizzas and burgers. Not the lovely traditional pub that it once was. Unfortunately no longer for us."

"My friend and I enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast lunch here which is excellent value but huge! This would suit most people with a very healthy appetite but it was a shame that my elderly friend could not do it justice although she gave it a good go! I would suggest offering a slightly smaller size of roast dinner (price adjusted accordingly) for those with smaller appetites. This isn't a complaint, just a suggestion. The staff were excellent, friendly and attentive. I have only marked down the score I've given for ambience because, on a warm sunny day, it does get uncomfortably hot in the conservatory and there are no blinds."

"Unassuming local hang out. Definitely don’t walk past as when you get up the stairs you are greeted with an excellent open space with plenty of seating and a really fun, family friendly atmosphere. "I visit at lunchtime regularly. The staff are always welcoming, helpful and polite. The food is always tasty and good value. I tried a lemon cheesecake type dessert with a ginger biscuit base (Jamaican was mentioned) but can't remember the actual name of it, it was lovely . I hope they keep it on the menu as I will definitely be having it again."
