"This used to be a great place to eat but sadly the food quality and cleanliness has gone downhill. The staff are great but we won’t be visiting again. The vegetarian special was awful and tasted and looked like it had been sitting around for ages and cooked so badly the pumpkin was totally decimated. I was expecting a bright and vibrant dish and not a pile of grey and black sludge. The table was very sticky to touch and the toilets also need a good clean. We’ve found that this has been the norm for a while so not just a one off I’m afraid."

"We have been to The embankment before and had a great meal. So booked for our anniversary, in at 7.30 and already items not available on the menu. It was burger night so I thought I would have something different. The salt cod burger with kimchi and sriracha sauce. It arrived as a battered piece of cod not salted in the traditional sense no kimchi or sriracha sauce. When asked for kimchi some sliced cabbage with not a hint of ferment came out. It was a nice fish burger but not what I asked for. Staff tried to apologise but didn’t really have a response. The burger night had not long started. They were unfortunately slammed so service was a bit slow but they did apologise for it. Bill came after deserts and coffee and not even a note or comp pud for a different course than expected. On a plus the frickles were the highlight of the meal and would recommend. Maybe it was an off night them but it certainly wasn’t a good night for us."

"Our village pub that has been through some highs and lows in recent times is absolutely back on top form thanks to the new management team. Mitch and Tom are certainly bringing Brookmans back with a bang. We stopped eating here as regularly for a variety of issues and it's safe to say that the kitchen and front of house are once again performing under Tom and Mitch's guidance. We've had several lovely meals here of late. The new wine and cocktail list is superb. The team as a whole are super friendly and go above and beyond to make sure each visit is memorable. Today the icing on the cake was a delicious chateaubriand, Jordan today's chef brought it out personally and came back after to check that we'd enjoyed it. Can't wait for the Tapas night in July as the previous one was fantastic. Ignore any negative reviews! Brookmans is back!!!"
