"5th but the last time! We really looked forward to our meal out without the kids at a restaurant which we would have always recommended to friends but unfortunately NOT ANYMORE! First impressions Upon being seated after getting my wife her drink I had to wait an age to be asked for my own order even though there was only 3 tables of customers. When asked for our food order we said that we weren 't having starters just mains to which we were told that it would be a long wait going straight to mains. A very strange answer! Food Bread Butter This used to be lovely but now to go with the lovely bread instead of the previous home made pepper Butter they are trying to pass off FAKE SPREADABLE BUTTER! This is obvious because butter when cool is firm this alternative was soft when cold a different consistency of course taste from real butter! Chateaubriand We asked for medium rare, it was rare (see picture). We didn 't send it back as you cant cook this meal more when it 's already sliced. Meat was good quality still thankfully. Spinach (pictured) A watery mess that wasn 't done right to remove the moisture but not the butter! Bone Marrow Sauce A very good sauce. Mustard, Mustard or Mustard (pictured) This was the biggest let down from both waiter Chef! I asked for Djon, the waiter returned from the kitchen with Wholegrain. I told the waiter that it was wholegrain that I asked for Djon, he went back to the kitchen returned from the kitchen with cheap rip off English mustard. I challenged the waiter about this his words were the chef said that it 's the same as Djon . Obviously I didn 't believe this he looked like he thought the same but after laughing saying that he should get the chef out to tell us that (to which he ignored), we just asked for the bill. Wine A good Bordeaux. A shame of an experience which we really wanted to be like the previous visits but clearly something bad had occurred"

"The front of house service at this restaurant was very friendly and efficient. Our starters arrived promptly after ordering, which was a good sign. Though our mains were a bit cold, the quality of the food was good, especially the steak. The desserts and cocktails we had were also very enjoyable. Overall, a positive dining experience despite the minor hiccup with the temperature of the mains."

"The Wagamama restaurant in Reading is in a good location close to the Oracle. The place itself was ok but the music was too loud and the atmosphere reminded me of school cafeterias. They have a vegan and gluten-free menu although only one dish was gluten-free and vegetarian/vegan. The quality of the food is good and very fresh. Unfortunately, our table wasn’t cleaned before we were placed so we had to sit next to a lonely shrimp, in addition we weren’t given cutlery for the soup-like curry nor was the staff properly trained to serve wine and drinks. In a nutshell: ok but nothing special or remarkable about this place."

"I visited on a Friday at 10am to meet a friend from Sweden for a breakfast having walked past 100x on my way to work. Kef provided excellent service and was welcoming and efficient. Lovely food , lovely decor, lovely ambience. I’ll definitely return soon . Thank you Kef !"

"Having made a booking via OpenTable and receiving a confirmation email, 24 hours later had a phone call from Browns to say they could offer me a table at 5pm or 9pm but not at 7pm which was the time of my booking. No apologies just that the way it is. OpenTable just blamed Browns and said I could always phone the restaurant to confirm a booking, not seeing the ridiculousness of that suggestion as it renders their platform to irrelevance. So I am giving an all round one star, but to be clear we did not eat there."

"During our weekend getaway in Oxford, we were delighted with our dining experience at 'The Fork' restaurant. We had a fantastic evening, starting with complimentary Cosmopolitan Cocktails after signing up for Brown's newsletter. The nibbles from the diverse menu were a great way to begin our meal. "I stayed in Birmingham for 4 nights while visiting Crufts and came to this restaurant on the evening of March 11th for our last meal. It was really good. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. I had the lemon sole and my daughter had the filet steak, which she found so amazing that she joked about wanting to marry the chef. Lemon sole is not a common dish on restaurant menus, so it was a nice surprise to find it here. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone looking for a meal in a nicer setting."

"Appalling service! We were the forgotten table; from the beginning to the end, the service was slow, and the waiter was not friendly at all. We asked for the manager twice, and when he finally came, we explained the whole situation, and he gave us the excuse they didn't have enough staff (which they didn't indeed), we asked for the bill, and it took another 15 minutes!!! At this point, we were there for 4 hours, and there was no patience left! Unbelievable lack of customer service! I stood up and said if they didn't bring the bill immediately, we'd leave without paying! In 30 seconds, the bill was on our table. NEVER AGAIN!!!!"

"We were warmly greeted by the staff as soon as we entered the restaurant, especially by the lady who welcomed us. We were seated at a lovely table overlooking the river and the food was excellent, particularly the prawns we had for starters. I ordered the sea bass and didn't realize it was served whole. I asked the waiter to remove the head for me, which he did quickly and filleted it at the table with exceptional service. Despite being too full for dessert, the staff surprised my friend with a small dessert with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate, which she found delicious and appreciated. We would definitely come back to this restaurant when in Cambridge. The only suggestion I have is to offer smaller sizes of steak on the menu as the portion sizes were quite large."

"Service was horrible and slow. After waiting 20 minutes waiter came over, apologized for the wait and then proceeded to disappear. Place was almost empty and the waiters were huddled inside chatting. When we finally got our wine, mine was off so I wanted to send it back. Waiter argued that it was fine even though it smelled and tasted like vinegar. He asked if I wanted another wine and I said “No. I’d like the same wine but from a fresh bottle”. He came back and said the bartender agreed that the wine was off. No apology. Food was tasteless. View was great. We saw the tower bridge raised. I’d just go for a drink and the view if you have a lot of time on your hands."

"After attending an afternoon show at the theatre on a Sunday near Christmas, we decided to have a meal at this restaurant. The atmosphere was quite lively with several groups of diners, making it somewhat noisy. I ordered the Sunday roast, but regretted my choice as the vegetables tasted old and had likely been sitting out for a while. The beef, however, was delicious. My friend opted for the salmon, which she enjoyed. Our desserts were satisfying. The staff were all friendly and attentive, although the service was slow. Overall, the experience was mixed."

"Attending Browns for a Christmas Dinner with my wife. Tldr: The food was fantastic, but the atmosphere was lacking and the live music timing was moved. We have attended Browns a few times before over the years for different events and decided for it as the Christmas date night for my wife and I. We specifically booked after 7 on a Sunday as we were told that live music would be played after that time and we wanted that ambience (we have been before when piano music was playing). When we got there we found that the live music had ended at 7, so we had booked later for no reason. Instead of the quiet and romantic evening we planned, the venue was very very bright, loud music was playing and although the staff were attentive we felt it lacking. The wine was very expensive for what it was (you expect a 40 quid bottle to be more than 1 year old and not a screw top, at least), and looked, smelled, and tasted like a 7 quid bottle from Tesco. The food was amazing, we had the festive menu and it was splendid. The portion sizes were good too. I would mark it 6/10 for the night we expected. But we may return if loud and bright is needed (like a friends night out meal for example) but definitely not a romantic time."

"Our first visit but it won't be our last. The food was good but the fishcakes should have been served with fries or potatoes. Serving them with only salad is not sufficient or value for money. Isabella was excellent as were all the staff. The person who greeted us at the door was rather subdued towards our arrival and did not create the ideal first impression. "The service from start to finish was slow and poor. We had to request our drinks, the food was dry and unappetizing. The pasta was heavy, the steak didn't resemble steak, and the egg on the schnitzel was overcooked and tough. When we asked the waiter to clean the table after our main course, he mistakenly sprayed it with detergent, getting some on us. The desserts were average at best. Despite arriving at 6:30 PM to an empty restaurant, the food quality and service were extremely disappointing. We had assumed the restaurant would remain open until midnight as stated on their website, but the staff informed us that they typically closed around 8 PM when business slowed. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant."

I anticipated it being crowded and busy, but I did not expect the poor service we received. The evening started off well with our drinks and starter arriving promptly. Despite her apology, we waited a considerable amount of time for our food, even watching other tables get served twice before us. The wait for our check was also extended. Our once cheerful and friendly waitress seemed to sense our dissatisfaction, as she disappeared and we waited 15 minutes for our check which she brought with a scowl. The food was decent, but the overall service was lacking."
