"Abonim is one of the better sushi/sashimi restaurants in Prenzlauer Berg though it offers the limited standard fare of raw fish that German sushi bars tend to have (usually Tuna, Salmon and one white fish). There are also some shell fish and shrimps. So do not expect the variety of fresh fish that you would find in New York or Los Angeles. The local fish vendors just have not created the fresh fish pipeline by plane that is neccessary to support that. On the upside what is offered is usually fresh and tasty. The restaurant gets 4 stars for food. The sushi/sashimi has a Korean slant as the owner is Korean so they offer the nice marinandes that one expects from that cuisine. There are also a large number of hot Korean meat and fish dishes available for people who do not like raw fish. The restaurant has a nice outside area that is reminiscent of a small beer garden. The clear downside is the poor service usually performed by the owners daughter. She is a lovely and friendly girl but simply overwhelmed with the demand created by all guests. It just takes ages to get your drinks, food items and expect fo sit among dirty dishes until you are about to leave. So service is well below average (2 stars). It is hard to understand why the owner does not recitiy this problem which has been on- going for years now."
