"I had high hopes for the afternoon tea based on the great reviews, but unfortunately, I was left feeling disappointed. Despite rarely leaving reviews, I felt compelled to share my experience. The view from the restaurant was beautiful, but the food itself fell short of expectations. The portions were small and did not meet the standards I would expect for the price paid. The tea included only one pot, three finger sandwiches, one scone, one piece of cake, one chocolate, and two tiny cakes. Additionally, the individual jam pots were a nice touch, but mine was already opened and partially eaten. The strawberries were also spoiled. In my opinion, there are better places to enjoy afternoon tea. I would recommend visiting for a drink and enjoying the views instead. It was disappointing to be charged full price despite raising these concerns."

Really nice afternoon tea. Every dietary point noted before arrival. Home made scones were lovely and the sandwiches were fresh.

The scones were delicious and it was so relaxing to enjoy a cream tea while watching people surf. The service was quick and efficient.

My son kindly treated me for Mother's Day. From beginning to end the service was superb! The afternoon tea was relaxed and friendly. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. The food was to die for... View menu

We opted to have the basic Afternoon Tea and this was well worth it. The scones were very fresh and plenty of cream and jam were provided (or should that be jams and cream! . My wife could not manage her two scones so I had to finish them for her no problem there!!

We enjoyed afternoon tea with prosecco at this restaurant and were amazed by the fantastic food quality. The freshly made sandwiches were very tasty, the home made scones were delicious with proper clotted cream, and the pastries were to die for. The service was great as well.

I had a great overall experience at this restaurant. The hotel is very elegant and the dining room is beautifully decorated. They offer a wide variety of teas to choose from. The staff is professional and friendly, providing excellent service. There are also good options for vegetarians. The pastries were especially delicious and we really enjoyed them. View menu

Another good meal at the Wellesley. Food is of a high quality, lovely intimate dining room and excellent service. Special offer set menu is good value. Wine is expensive (min. £10 a glass/£30 a bottle) but even the house variety is decent. One slightly off note this time was the smell of cigar smoke. Not sure if there is a cigar lounge on the ground floor, but there was a definite and fairly strong smell of cigar smoke for the entire meal, which wasn't nice.

Booked a table for afternoon tea one week in advance was given the option to book for adults and child and the booking was all confirmed by email. One week later the night before we were due to visit I had a call to say table had been cancelled as they don't accept children. If it's an adult only hotel then fine, but why give the option to add a child when booking? Also why wait a week after the booking was made to cancel leaving no time to make alternative arrangements for a special occasion! The child was a 12 years old but wasn't even given the chance to tell them this.

"So let us share our experience, We went in tonight as a family after seeing that it home made food on the drive to sennen and looked online and had a good look at the food available on the menu also looking to see if it was dog friendly and it ticked all the boxes, Upon arrival me and my wife went in 1st to ask if we could have a table for food and if dogs can go inside and staff were a little unsure but they confirmed we could upon asking for a table for 7 but one in a pram he said we don’t have the availability to cater I was looking at a table big enough and eventually said that this table was available whilst being seated we had 2 table one clean and the 2nd just been finished with so needed a clean but he came and cleaned both tables and he squirted the cleaner on a clean table and the over spray bounced off the table and went over our selfs then we were handed a menu freshly printed A4 paper thrown on the table (WET TABLE) so they stuck to the table upon agreeing what we wanted we went to the bar within 2-3 mins of being seated we knew what we wanted and when we asked for the meal it was OUT OF STOCK (Sunday lunch) ok fair so as I was with a family member at the bar I quickly rushed back to the table to ask my daughter of an alternative she wasn’t happy, So I made a meal up of all the extras on the menu so I went back to the bar to find my family member ordered 2 fish and chips then I realised my wife also wanted Sunday lunch so I quickly rushed back to ask her what she wanted and went back to the bar just as my family member left and asked for fish and chips was also sold out also! 99% of the menu was SOLD OUT this should of been discussed upon arrival not as we were ordering I run and operate my own business and this isn’t how I would treat my customers this isn’t how an establishment should be ran! Even when I was standing trying to order a member of staff was standing there arm against the wall doing nothing while customers are standing waiting to be served! So we decided not to eat and my family member went back to the bar to ask for a refund as we couldn’t eat as a family and the staff were iffy about offering a refund but 10 minutes later they did refund my family member as it became a scene for other people as they could see what had happened! This establishment should be call the 1st and late time you come here! We ended up walking to the chip shop down the road for food we are very disappointed in this company and establishment! For anyone who wants to eat please make sure they HAVE STOCK how can this establishment run without stock? Never again tonight they lost over £200 revenue due to this situation!"
