"Like most, my tourguide on the Bernina tour took a group of us here. There were about 12 of us who chose to eat here and the nice part was knowing that we would be served quickly which we were. There was already the house wine which was an adequate red and some water on the table when we arrived and the Brecaola arrived shortly thereafter. Quite frankly, having never had it, I found it to be quite tasty. The pasta dish we were also served was great as well and it made for a nice stop in Tirano before leaving on the Bernina train. On the way back, there was a lovely Gelato place that may have been even better than the meal itself, though my wife truly fell in love with Bresaola and has already requested another chance to have that before we leave in a few weeks. Overall a good meal Not great as it was more or less a lunchtime quick meal, but a great exposure to the food of the region."

We stopped in here for lunch on a brief stopover in Tirano. It was OK/average at best. Had simple salad and a couple of pasta dishes that did not distinguish themselves.

This was a classic find, we had serious and fantastic food, good local advice on when and when not to order cappuccino) good fun. Felt like many local people enjoying their lunch and the pasta and risotto we enjoyed was some of the best.

The restaurant was almost full and we believe that people know what they are doing, so we decided to have a lunch We ordered 2 sole menieur dishes. The service was rude and food almost uneatable (see what left... Recommend to avoid this place

We stopped in Tirano to catch the Bernina Express to St Moritz. They offered a lunch package the cost 16 Euros per person. It was good, you had your choice of Berasola or Carprese salad we had one of each. The pasta course was good Spaghetti pomodoro. Wine and soft drinks were included. It was good!! View menu

We visited Ai Portici in October for Lunch on our travels to St Moritz We were welcomed by friendly staff, our food was tasty with quick service. As it was my birthday on the day a surprise birthday cake was organised which was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and service. A nice touch for a wonderful day Gina and Damon (6 Aussies’ 2 Americans)

We visited the restaurant on our way to St. Mauritz, the first course was thin slices of meat with some olive oil. The meat was dry and without flavor. For main course we tried two different types of pasta, both sould be considered a disgrace for the Italian kitchen. Worst resturant meal, and maybe worst meal, I have ever had. The wine was also a disapointment.

"We were recommended this restaurant by a local and the pilgrimage to get there up windy road was one thing, when we arrived. the welcome wasn’t exactly great, even though we had booked. They appeared quite busy, and we were shown to our table of two, the menu was in Italian fine . My wife had to translated as she’s Italian, we ordered an antipasto for two, which came to separate plates, so one plate was actually enough waitress could of mentioned , some local cold meats and some funny tasting buckwheat fritters vegetarian not to my taste … My main was lamb rack with fried potatoes apparently grilled vege appeared frozen … lamb was nothing special and you could of been anywhere in world with rustic presentation… wife didn’t order main course . I was still hungry and ordered ‘deer ragu pasta’… was okay a tomato-less bolognese style. Tiramisu for dessert… plate was cold, so obviously those were pre-made and stored in fridge ready for service… 64:50€ for nothing special… Personally, I don’t know how they are number three on TripAdvisor rankings for this local place, and I certainly w,ouldn’t make the pilgrimage to this restaurant but everyone has an opinion… Service wasn’t great either and Waitress appeared disinterested, with zero customer service. The annoying thing for me, a lot of the customers were having steak tartare which wasn’t on the menu. Apparently you have to pre-order so personally I thought that was wrong."

"I was excited to have lunch in Italy on a quick layover with the Bernina Express. I put a lot of effort into walking around to find a special restaurant for my only meal in Italy on my vacation I mostly spent in Switzerland. I have been to Italy several times before; however, for an American, a meal in Italy is a big deal when it has been years. How I wish I had more time to research and selected some place else. Though it looks very charming from the street and still somewhat charming in the immediate entry, the main dining rooms are nothing special with not much of a view, mostly obstructed what view there is, and a large fish tank in the middle of one room. The food and wine was very average, though the price was good in my opinon, having just arrived from Switzerland only about $30 for a glass of local wine, desert, local pasta and large bottle of sparkling water. Honestly, I can get much better Italian food and wine in the U.S. in top cities. I seemed to be the only non local there. I rarely take the time to write negative reviews unless I feel I have had an unacceptable experience. My short time in Italy and lunch left a very bad taste in my mouth due to the young, awkward, and unprofessional Italian waiter. When I nicely asked in Italian that I preferred to have a glass of wine that was local, he suggested something off menu. Not wanting to be surprised with a glass of wine more than I wanted to pay, I asked for the price. He mocked me laughing in a condescending way don 't ask the price , and continued to walk around the dining room shouting loudly don 't ask the price . I was offended but took the high road and said nothing, refusing to sink to his low level. I wish I had the other male waiter for my entire meal who clearly was not Italian and had seated me and was very nice, but this restaurant seems to have a practice of not assigning a waiter to the table, and switching them around throughout the meal. Disappointing. His loss, I would have left a American price tip if he had been professional and nice."
