Nice little beer garden, basic but good local food dishes at the price. Good service, excellent Czech and German beer

good food, albeit sometimes a bit heavy. i recommend the maultaschen lasagna - a german take on italian that really works well and tastes great. by the way, it is the site of an old brauhof but there is none there now anymore, it is in a apartment area View menu

I was surprised how poor choice of meals do they offer. There are some sorts of beer, decent ones, but you won't be able to eat even german sausages there, there are only diffirent kind of Schnitzel. It was really very big loaf of meat, but I can't say it was very tasty.

We went as a larger group - part English part German speaking. None of the waiters spoke English, which I found different for a city and location as this restaurant has. Regardless, the food was great, the beer was great, the atmosphere extremely friendly, so overall - good spot.

Alter Brauhof is a typical german restaurant with a nice garden for the summer time. The meals' quality is according to my opinion average and the prices a little bit high for this type of restaurant. It is direct opposite the north-west side of the zoo and next to the police station. View menu

It’s hard to rave. But there are also no complaints. I lied the staff they were fun and friendly. The food was good if unspectacular. I loved my Nurnbwger wurstl and sauerkraut. Claudias schnitzel was good too. Beer kinda ordinary for Germany. The dunkel is...made by Heineken’s Czech subsidiary which is disappointing when you’re in Germany But a nice outdoor environment and no complaints

We were really looking forward to our first German meal since our trip to Bavaria in 2005. Either the different regions have a different twist on the food or we were just extremely unlucky with our restaurant choice. My wife had a pork chop skillet with fried potatoes and I had the sahnschnitzl with cold noodle things.The food was plentiful and was well presented but was flavorless. The only people in the restaurant other than myself and my wife was a group of 6 men having beer. The waitress was very friendly and polite. The restaurant was decorated very nicely and appeared clean, but there was no music and no atmosphere. Maybe we just hit it on a bad night.

Recently, just after Christmas, we came to Karlsruhe to see an exhibit at the Regional museum (in the former grand-ducal palace) and stayed overnight at a B&B in the neighborhood. The receptionist recommended Alter Brauhof, and we were not disappointed. The interior, dating from the...eighties, is amusing in its stylistic mish-mash, take it as a piece of amusing folklore. Everything is in good order, it was pleasantly quiet, the service friendly, and above all, beer on tap (Krušovice and home-style food was decent and worth its price. I had veal kidney, my companion a huge portion of pork cutlet, all very tasty, and the salad aside fresh and crisp. No complaints here! View menu
