"The San Calisto, affectionately Sanca among the Romans, is a bar that is just a few steps from Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, opens at dawn and closes at two in the morning, every day except Sunday. Without taking into account the transformation that the Trastevere area is suffering, which is being transformed into one of the fashionable neighborhoods, and which connects many locals of the area, the Sanca remains the same as in the 1960s, with an involuntaryly vintage essential style, with the unsuccessful photos of players and football teams from years ago on the walls, an honest bar and efficient Roman waiters screaming. It's not just a bar, they also prepare homemade ice cream. I love your chocolate ice cream and egg punch, where chocolate has the taste of before I was a kid. It is always a good time to go through the Sanca, for breakfast in the morning, during the day to have a coffee or a barn in the afternoon or classic Peroni, also in the winter for a good hot chocolate with whipped cream, or at night to chat with friends with a drink, or two, or three, because the San Calisto will not ruin your wallet. Marcello the owner, runs the restaurant with his honesty and competence, decided to keep his prices to welcome new customers and that the usual ones will continue to feel at home. Cheap prices attract everyone, so the clientele is very varied, sometimes extravagant Romans, elders, children, intellectuals, young people, directors, writers, idle, workers and politicians for the district..."
