"This wine bar describes itself as inspired by the bàcari of Venice . However, no true mains were available only tapas style dishes. This is the very base level you would find in a Venetian bàcari, and rather dissimilar to many other london bàcari. Given that the owner has claimed this listing, this should be made clear in the wine bar 's listing. We nearly walked out, but decided to have tapas before the performance and supplement later. We were shown to the basement, which is perfectly pleasant. After about ten minutes we had this to ourselves. I don 't know if they thought we were just getting to know each other, but we were left vey much to ourselves. Food was good quality, elthough quite limited in styles. We had portions of tuna caper stuffed mini peppers, pancetta wrapped dates gorgozola, grilled focaccia with olive oil, and peas with mint and ricotta. All perfectly decent, althouth neither the focaccia nor the brioche was anything to write home about. There was little point in floating the olive oil dip on balsamic, as the olive oil provided near perfect protection from the bread. Most of the dishes would have benefitted from additional herbal hints (especially basil for the focaccio)"

We popped in on the off chance after a show and were too late for food, but what a lovely little bar. The staff were the friendliest that we encountered on our whole trip.

A hidden highlight of London! I am so pleased I found this little gem. The staff are amazing, the location is close to Covent Garden but away from all the crowds. We had drinks (more than a few) and food and can’t wait to come back! Highly recommended

My daughter I visited for something to eat before the theatre. The staff were welcoming the atmosphere was great. The food was excellent, we had a mixture of small plates all of which were delicious. The cocktails were also fantastic! We would definitely recommend.

Luckily booked this little gem yesterday when we had a trip to enjoy the Xmas lights as it was so busy in London. We were welcomed in to Augustus Harris by the warmest waiting staff ... they could not have been more friendly and helpful. Downstairs is cosy and welcoming. A simple, quality menu. We will definitely book again.

Tony, Ally and the team are absolutely AMAZING! We have been hosting welcome socials for our new starters at AH for the last few months and the staff have been phenomenal. Great drinks, delicious boards and fantastic, attentive staff. We have wanted for nothing, the service is out of this world (if you like cocktails, I 100% recommend their Mojitos! . Thank you so much, we will see you again soon!

We went a few weeks ago with another couple for some lightish pre-theatre eats. We hadn't visited for a few years and it was as good as ever. The tapas were so scrumptious (carefully chosen ingredients in delicious combinations) that it ended up as more substantial than we intended. As before the staff were efficient, attentive and friendly. We highly recommend it. It's small so book a table particularly if it is pre-theatre. It is a delightful little bar if you just want a drink.

Quite possibly I’ve walked past Augustus Harris many times without noticing ….. what a little gem hidden in plain sight! It is fantastically placed for theatre land the tapas menu is ideal for a pre or post West End nibble. It’s a fairly simple concise offer of crostini, paninetti, cheese, salami other savoury spuntini. Everything was absolutely delicious. To accompany, the wine cocktail list is short-ish but intriguing, of quality well thought through. Staff were friendly attentive. It’s a diminutive spot, with just 4 small, packed in tables counter seating at ground floor level (plus a couple of tables pavement side) a handful in the cosy basement. Loved it!

Went to see Frozen the musical at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, London and wanted a light meal and a couple of drinks prior to performance. Right outside the theatre is Augustus Harris in Catherine Street. An absolute gem of a Italian wine bar/bistro. Even in the middle of January we were able to sit outside and eat and drink. A truly lovely selection of wines, beers and spirits from the Italian region. We choose a mixed meat and cheese Salumi board, with a dish of olives that were to die for. Would go back just for the olives and the Grillo. Staff were fantastic, friendly, attentive and nothing was too much to ask. The best part was the price. Considering it was in such a prime position, I was...
