"My student daughter took me here for lunch yesterday, and said it is her go to café in Marburg. I went back alone today as I was so impressed. This bistro is popular for good reason. Located in the Altstadt, it has a warm, cosy atmosphere with cheerful yellow walls adorned by Gustav Klimt prints. Klimt appears on the cover of the menus, too, which are available in German and English. The menu is extensive and there really is something for everyone. Soup, salad, pasta, pizza, as well as whatever hot or cold beverage you desire. The coffee is good. The main attraction for me was the long list of Aufläufe. Auflauf is a casserole baked in individual deep dishes and can be based on potato, pasta or rice, combined with a variety of other ingredients (different meats and or vegetables) and gratinated with Gouda cheese. It arrives at your table still bubbling from the oven. Yesterday, I had curried rice, chicken and mixed vegetable Auflauf. Today, I chose potato, chicken, broccoli and pineapple, a combination which works surprisingly well. All dishes on offer have been reduced in price as Winter Specials. The servings are generous you won’t be hungry afterwards! Service is swift, attentive, and smiley. The staff I interacted with spoke German and English. Highly recommended!"

Marburg, a charming university town in Germany, is known for its medieval architecture. Typical local dishes include Handkäse with music and hearty Hessian sausage specialties.
