"After a late night out with friends and losing an hour of sleep due to daylight savings, I woke up on Easter Sunday to my eager 10-year-old son asking to go on a bike ride instead of receiving a chocolate egg. We set off with our dog towards the Flitch Way, cycling 1.2 miles of the 15-mile path before stopping at the Booking Hall Cafe. The cafe is housed in an old train carriage, creating a unique and charming atmosphere in the village of Rayne. The young staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. My son and I enjoyed a delicious bacon sandwich and quick service. The portion sizes were generous and reasonably priced. Although we declined dessert, we plan to return in the future. The cafe also provided water for our dog and had ample seating, including a section for children. Overall, our experience was excellent and I highly recommend the Booking Hall Cafe for a memorable dining experience. It was the best Easter ever."

It's great for a Sunday morning coffee and walk with the dogs. It does get really busy, so expect a wait for food and drinks, or get there early

We have visited the Booking hall Cafe a few times on walks and had takeaway during COVID. The cakes are incredible and the sandwiches have been great too. Always a friendly welcome service. It can get busy so be prepared to wait, but it's worth it!

This restaurant has incredible cakes that make it worth a visit just for that alone. Additionally, you can enjoy your treat while sitting on the old platform next to an antique train. The atmosphere is very charming, especially on a sunny afternoon.

I’ve been coming to this cafe ever since I was a little girl, I don’t live in Essex anymore but whenever I come back to visit I always come down for lunch or coffee and cake! The vegan and vegetarian food is amazing and the coffee is always great, Grace and Josh work hard to make the cafe and the plaza an amazing place for everyone. It’s also very dog friendly so a great place to walk to from the flitch or the discovery!

Served by a rude woman. Been visiting for years like to buy takeaway coffees on mine husband 's walk quite often. On my last visit, Saturday 17/02/24, I ordered 2 coffee 's slice of cake. Was served by a lovely young lady who took my order, no issues. One of the coffees was served by a different older/ middle-aged woman with short hair. I mentioned to her thanks, just waiting for another coffee and she responsed with yea, well we need to make it first before giving it to you darling then proceeded to look through me to take the next customers order, dismissing me completely. How. Rude. I think I will be bringing my own filtered coffee from home from now. Thank you for the past few years

"We came here on a last minute hunt to find a Sunday roast with family without much expectations. However when entering its a lovely set up and we were greeted by Lee and Alison who looked after us for the meal who just to begin were absolutely brilliant, they really care about the customers and make this place extra special. Now for the food you can get a 2 or 3 course meal so everybody made various selections but all had starters. Most went for the Aarancina which isn't your usual starter with a Sunday roast but for here it packs alot of flavour and is a great way to start the meal. They have a great selection of alcoholic beverages I went for a simple beer. For the main roasts we had a variety of meats I wanted the pork but sadly they had no crackling which was half the reason for ordering but if I am being honest after eating the meal it wasn't missed out the meat was tasty full of flavour but the sides were the key. The roast potatoes were of a top level usually when you eat out they are never as good as eating at home, the Yorkshire were huge and tasty, gravy brilliant with plenty to go around and lots of veg and cauliflower cheese on the side. Honestly this was excellent a really good roast probably the best I have ever ate in a resteraunt. Some of the others had the lamb shank which was huge and had great feedback but the beef was great and so was everything else. So yes check it out eat in and eat some great food in a nice setting with absolutely brilliant service you won't be disappointed."

"What can I say….We held our wedding dinner and impromptu party ! on the mezzanine floor and had the time of our lives with our nearest and dearest. It’s been a pretty special place for us as we dined at the House by Hilly Gant to check the area out before moving from London and so as we were having a small wedding of 22 people we felt this was the best place to have our wedding. Suzanne and the team could not have done anything more to make our afternoon and evening so perfect. The food was outstanding and our guests were very impressed Harry and his cocktail making skills are second to none. Huge shout out to all the kitchen staff who’s attention to detail and timings were spot on. Leading up to the day itself Suzanne took charge and offered her expert advice on how to dress the room and made so much effort with our requirements. 3 children and 1 baby as part of the guest list! . The beef in particular was spectacular and the chocolate fondant was sublime. We honestly didn’t want to leave. After dinner Suzanne was able to crank the music up and we had a little party ensuring all the guests downstairs were still well looked after our friends were actually dining downstairs and were able to join us towards the latter part of the evening! From the bottom of our hearts thank you so much to everyone for making it so special for us. I’m not surprised that you were recently awarded your second rosette, totally deserved. For anyone looking for quality food, locally sourced, and beautifully executed this is the place to come. SEE YOU SOON and thank you again x"
