"Tucked away down a little side street in Borough, The Boot and Flogger is a lovely little place. The dining room and bar are a lovely throw back to an earlier time, with little tables and wing back chairs along one wall and a bar on the other. A very good wine list accompanies a varied but not over long menu (plus several specials). Nothing here is super fancy but everything is cooked well and there are options to suit everyone. I will say that a couple of things were under seasoned but that is personal preference and I was able to top up the seasoning myself. Also the steaks were not the best and probably the only thing on the menu I would avoid. I think perhaps the grill could be little hotter to achieve a really go sear but I'm being very fussy at this point. One other very minor point is that the lighting over the table is a little bright. Satnd out dish for me is the smoked salmon starter. It's simple yet has been elevated with a light and crisp salad of perfectly picked cucumber and a sweet chilli dressing. It complements the mild smoke of the excellent quality salmon and really is perfect. So many places will just serve you a plate of salmon with a lemon wedge and some stale bread, but this is prepared with thought and care and is perfect. Staff are all really nice and the atmosphere is perfect. Aircon to keep it from being too hot and the wood panelling makes for a nice atmosphere where background chatter is pleasant and not overly loud. Three courses each, a bottle of wine, bottle of water and a glass of port came to £150 including service. Not cheap but worth it"

A hidden gem close to Borough Market. Great atmosphere and amazing value for central London. This is my go to venue when I’m in town and entertaining.

Situated beside the historic Crossbones Garden, the atmosphere of an old traditional building draws you in. The food (Best ever sausages with Madeira gravy! and the choice of wine is exceptional and the staff are so,so friendly.

Popped in early Saturday evening. First time for me but our friends had been before. Place was actually very quiet but they suited us. We only wanted a drink so shared a lovely bottle of wine. Decoration inside the pub is amazing! Will definitely visit again View menu

Had a lovely impromptu dinner here after just arriving in London after a long trek from Singapore. Despite our jet lag we happened to really enjoy the atmosphere of the place, the quality food and exceptional service. Would definitely recommend for drinks or a nice classic dinner. Try the soup!

Very disappointed. The steak was shared. It was very fatty, under cooked (and I like it medium rare usually), and badly cooked. Half the steak was fat, with very little meat to eat. It was over priced, expensive, bad value for money. Been here before and it was good (before COVID). Service was good, waitress was very attentive. Wine was good, and also Irish coffee was good.

A pleasant surprise, had drank here a number of times (fab Rioja but not eaten before. Went with a few friends and the food was good, I started with the salmon and cucumber salad, the salmon was a very generous portion. I did double salmon with the main as a salmon and pancetta salad , the fish and chips, crab and prawn linguine my friends had also looked good. Service was as usual very good and much higher than your expect at a pub. I didn’t get the ladies name who looked after us but she was very helpful. They didn’t have gluten free pasta when we visited sadly but that’s my only gripe which is pretty minor View menu

We stopped off for drinks as this had been flagged up in our London Walks book. The welcome was wonderful, and we shared a fab bottle of red. When we were about to leave, our lovely bar server offered to show us around. The ‘tour’ was really interesting, and we felt like valued customers, despite only being there for 1 drink. We left to go to a restaurant for a pre-booked lunch, but on arrival we were told we would need to return our table in 45 mins due to some maintenance work. We left immediately, and returned to Boot Flogger for a delicious lunch in excellent surroundings. Worth a stop if ever in Southwark!

We went with a large party of family and friends and enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch. The food was first class and the service also, front of house very friendly and attentive and all the staff went out of their way to make ours an enjoyable visit. Only three small reservations. (i) Some of the main courses were just warm and not hot when they were served. This can sometimes occur with a large party but a hotplate or two in the kitchen would solve the problem. (ii) The premises would benefit from offering a draft lager. There was only bottles available. A draft like Peroni or Heineken would have been great. (iii) The pear crumble sweet was not great. The crumble was scratchy and the (tinne...
