"We arrived in Bordeaux for our 3 day visit on Sunday evening, which isn’t the most auspicious of timing to find restaurants open. Walking around the town, which we know reasonably well from previous visits, we finally saw the brasserie Café Des Arts which was open for business. Being reasonably early and most French having only recently left the table after their traditional Sunday lunch blow out, the place wasn’t exactly humming. My wife wasn’t feeling adventurous and so ordered chicken which she declared delicious. I had a pork terrine that had seen moister days, followed by steak tartare and frites, something of a favourite which was satisfactory if the meat wasn’t of the quality that steak tartare requires. A shared plate of unexciting cheese, a couple of beers and a coffee, a half carafe of Bourgeuil and somehow we’d managed to get north of 80 euros/ £70. When compared to lunch the following day in Arcachon, where we spent a euro or two less, this was the poorest value on our trip. There are better brasseries in Bordeaux and had we been less travel weary we would have sought them out. Perhaps, on reflection, arrival on a Sunday might have been better on another day of the week."

We visited here in June and were very impressed with the food! My husband had the steak which he said was lovely and I had the chicken which was amazing! Highly recommend ????

I went out the place with a terrible Image about this café, the waiter who attended us was a bed educated person with no patiense or finesse, almost putted us out of the café. I DO NOT RECOMEND.

We had just arrived in Bordeaux and stumbled upon this restaurants as it was near our apartment. Probably the best authentic restaurant we ate in in our 4 day stay. Food terrific, excellent menu and staff really helpful.

We visited Cafe des Arts at the end of our walk/shopping in Saint Cathrine. At the beginning we wanted to have lunch there but when we realized that nobody came to clean the table which was dirty we changed our mind. We order something to drink and we left. Very poor service.

A wonderful place to sit in the shade, have a drink and maybe a meal and watch the world walk by. Lovely inside - old world charm. One of the few places we have visited that asked you to pay the bill when your drinks arrived, but I am ok with that on such a busy street. Very, very pleasant.

We took the 'menu see marches' and were guided by the server in selecting starters. My husband, who doesn't routinely, eat fish enjoyed his fish based fritters, the steam was beautifully cooked and the poached apple and Breton biscuit delicious. We enjoyed the experience so much we went out if our way to return for a break the following day.

The restaurant is perfectly situated on a corner of the rue St Catherine and so very accessible while away from the crush of other eating areas. The food is good and reasonably priced, as is the wine. Service is friendly and efficient. Even if you have dined elsewhere is worth stopping on the walk back home for a glass of something and a moment to relax.

If you go shopping in Bordeaux the Cafe des Arts makes a pleasant stop at one end. There is a KFC across the road for people who don't fancy eating nice food.Sat outside where there is a cover and heaters so you stay warm. Unfortunately being outside it means that you get everyone's cigarette smoke as almost everyone there seemed to smoke.Lunch was ok but nothing to write home about. Service was polite and efficient so all in all a good enough place to stop for a decent bite to eat.

We tried to find out a good restaurant near the St Catherine Street. We were hungry and it was close to us. The restaurant is beautiful, the waiters are kind and helpful. We chose the menu of the day. My girlfriend took the chicken wrap. It was a tasty cold opening. I took the eggplant crumble with ricotta. Very good! For the dish, we took a butcher steak and fries and fish with a citrus sauce. Spicy but soft at the same time. For the dessert, peach with sirup and a stracciatella perry. The coffee were includes in the menu for 14,90€. To conclude, a good restaurant, a tasty lunch and for a good price.
