"Found this by chance when out for a wander on our first evening - it was only 5 minutes from our hotel (reviewed also) so we popped in for a quick drink before heading for dinner (Shezan - also reviewed). An interesting little place. Reasonably busy for a Saturday evening on the 1st March and we had a glass of red wine and a beer. The location by the river is nice and I guess would be lovely on a summer evening - and full, too, no doubt. Great value - HUGE glass of delicious Merlot for about 4 euros - cheap, by any standards, but good, too. We didn't eat but what we saw being served looked tasty and mid-range in price from what we saw on the menu (snacks, rather than full meals, I think). Pleasant service and also a haunt for locals in the neighbourhood. A nice way to spend half an hour or so before dinner."

Staff here were very friendly and welcoming. The food was also good and reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit.

This cafe is nothing special -- except that it has tables along the Spree. Irresistible on one of these endless hot summer nights, in an area that cannot boast a lot of such places.

Nice little pub/cafe located on the edge of the river Spree. Friendly staff. We sat outside on the waters edge and had some beers and food. I'd recommend the Berlin meat balls as a snack. Reasonable price for Berlin

Spent a very pleasant evening here with friends - location is great on a quite street next to the old harbour... service was great , simple menu of salads and light meals to help mop up the beer :-) Desserts also excellent ;-)

Stopped by here on an afternoon and sat outside overlooking the river with a nice glass of wine. Also went back and sat inside the following evening drinking their recommended drink 'Hugo' (sparkling wine/champagne, elderflower and mint) which was lovely and refreshing. Nice little local bar, would recommend.

We have been searching around for some place where we could eat in the late evening, say, almost 11 PM. And Cafe Re at Märkisches Ufer was a beacon enlightening the shadows abounding around. A small place where to drink, to have some simple and charachteristic dishes like Frankfurters (saussages) and potato salad, and to enjoy a view of the sorroundings. Enjoyable evening, convenient prices.

Arriving late into Berlin on a Saturday night, we were delighted to find this little spot just around the corner from our hotel. Its setting is fantastic, on a quiet pedestrian street right next to the canal. With friendly, attentive service, and a reasonable range of drinks options, including a half dozen local beers, coupled with the background chatter of local voices filling the summer night air, this was a great place to relax and unwind. There's a wide range of snacks on the menu: we tried the waffles, and the apple strudel, which were both splendid. Prices were very reasonable for the centre of Berlin. We certainly recommend a visit to Cafe Re.

We arrived late in Berlin and fancied a beer in a local bar before turning in. Cafe Re was genuinely around the corner from our hotel so we popped in. There were 10 of us and we managed to get a table in the smoking room which was remarkably unsmokey. The beer of choice for us was the Berliner Pilsner, a very drinkable beer, slightly heavier than a British lager but hoppy and tasty. Highly recommended. Most of the people in Cafe Re seemed to be locals and there appeared to be most of an orchestra in the main bar, plenty of instruments in cases and much bonhomie. The owner of the bar was friendly, helpful and efficient and did not hurry us out of Cafe Re at closing time. We didn't have the opp...
