"We were recently traveling in the Alt Empordà region of Catalonia, Spain, with good friends. After visiting an excellent winery la Vinyeta, highly recommended it was lunch time, the main meal there. We originally looked for a restaurant in Espolla that we couldn 't find maybe an incorrect name? , but that proved to be a true blessing. On a cold, gray and windy afternoon we happened upon Can Cassoletes in Espolla. The many cars parked outside suggested that something worthwhile was awaiting us inside, an impression all the more convincing once we realized that local hunters were dining there. And we were fortunately very correct: a warm and very local restaurant serving true Catalan fare at a great price: 13 euros for the menú del dia prix-fixe menu , which in our case included as options traditional Catalan soup 'escudella ' and, for our main course, paella. We chose to have a local red wine that was recommended by our server, who to me a 40-year verteran traveller in Catalonia was one of the owners of the venue. When in Espolla and looking for good, solid Catalan cuisine, don 't miss Can Cassoletes! I 'd go back there tomorrow, and most likely will do so on my next visit to Catalonia 's Alt Empordà region."

This Catalan restaurant opens for lunch at 12 for the early-dining French and stays open for the late-arriving Spanish! Very good value. Friendly service. Large portions. Quaint and comfortable dining room. Recommended.

Taking advantage of the journey between capmania and plains, we remember this restaurant that, previously called can manel I see that this way it was on the invoices and it was in plain because for several years we did not eat its appreciated boullabaisse we ordered this dish for two people the truth is that the food was very good and we did not need dessert or anything; we even sobered

My 9 year old grand son booked the restaurant for 6, the lady who took the booking was just fabulous with him. The extended lunch was just great, the food fresh and so good, when you say to your self, wow how did they make that, you know it's good. The staff of the family run restaurant were so friendly and homely. The restaurant made our family occasion unforgettable for all the right reasons

I have been coming to this place for many many years and it is lovely. It's very rustic and run by a local family. They have a great lunch menu (3 courses) for about 15€ (might be less, I cannot find the bill). Last time I was here (late Dec 2014), I had a starter, which was melon and ham, very tasty, then a paella to share, and a homemade flan, which was delicious. My mother ate snails for her starter, which she said, were very good. The restaurant is frequented by locals and the owners are very friendly people. If you are ever in the area make sure to stop by for a simple but very tasty meal!

Our fourth visit to this restaurant on the edge of the pretty village of Espolla. Plenty of choice on the €13 menu, which included 3 courses, wine water. Menu is in Catalan French, so if you can't translate you may have to trust to luck. Today the two of us had Olot Potatoes which were great, and goats cheese on roasted vegetables for starters, and we both had different fish dishes for our main course. The Dorade (not sure of translation) was really tasty, as was the Bacala (cod). Desserts were simple but tasty a chocolate cake and a kind of cottage cheese with honey. The lady who runs the place is always friendly and as helpful as her lack of English and our lack of Spanish allows! Worth po...

After having passed by this place at lunchtime several times in recent months, it was good to find it open again this time. It is in a cool, rustic setting. The welcome is friendly and efficient. We chose the 20 euros Sunday 3- course lunch, including wine water. One of us had an enjoyable Catalan meat salad, the other a large plate of delicious small calamares. We shared a mixed meat/seafood paella, The portions were very large and very tasty, especially the excellent aborio rice. We were shown pre-prepared desserts to choose from and enjoyed our selection. Service was very efficient. The menus and the carte were shown in English, French and German as well as Catalan. The staff don't speak E...

We came across this place by chance because it was a very hot day there was a public swimming pool nearby. What a find, the weekday set menu at 15 euro including drinks was best value ever. I was able to treat our group of seven to three stunning courses. We drove back on a Sunday up the mountain from Banyuls sur Mer for another meal was even more impressed despite the slightly more expensive menu. Stunning food, warm efficient service can't praise this place enough. Before we walked in I spotted an impressive chilli/pepper plant by the door which was a sign of superior quality first impression it didn't let us down. Traditional interior a cool haven from the heat outside. The adults in heav...

Plats molt rics i molt ben presentats. Servei excel·lent.
