"who has never been on a french ship and has just visited hamburg, should take advantage of the chance and visit the cap san diego. one of the last item freighters in front of the break-through of the "Monster container freighter". a way forward, it goes deep down into the naval building, far below the water line and up to the bridge deck. all on partly steep metal stairs. the whole is not barrier-free. there are also audio and video information points distributed on the ship that are worth using. it is impressive how the whole ship is held top in shot. it is also still sea-course and is also used for this. the bordbistro was not visited for time reasons, but had opened. In addition, there are still comfortable cabins that could be booked on the south-america tours. today hotel operation takes place. and if one still sees the radiant eyes of a somewhat 12-year-old boy who also makes the tour with his papa, then one becomes aware of how important such objects are for the real experience of the time history."

the cap san diego is very interesting to see, you get a really good look behind the scenes of such a ship and just as an idea as the life on such a ship is.

on the cap san diego you can move freely and get a good look into a freighter built at the beginning of the 60s. the cap san diego is certainly worth a detour. a visit also supports the maintenance of this elegant ship.

interesting ship, which is fixed here and released for viewing. You can imagine how the freight operation was going on on this ship. Although the freighter is still seaworthy and is appropriately maintained and kept in fire, you can visit a lot, for example the machine room and the bridge.

we had a little time and used the time to visit. 6 euro per person with the hamburg card are more than fair...The ship is very well maintained and clean and really interesting to visit, especially the machine room.Leider are various areas not accessible and the exhibition about the emigrant is also not exciting. osterbrunch with the family at a special location nice location. the total costs had to be transferred with the reservation. Unfortunately, the offer was quite clear and not so versatile. breakfast without touch and speck, some of which were cold . the staff was very nice and caressful. pity, is really something special on the ship.

we were on the 2nd time. it is worth a trip alone as a maritime museum. everything is as if the occupation is coming and it goes back. all facilities can be visited and function. there are many explanations and always people close to who can answer questions. at the 2nd time, it was then as far as in the frame the entrance parade to the harbour birthday. an unforgettable experience. we like to come back.

eating is typical German. well prepared, buffet in my case. Attention is good. in the did very good when considering other experiences in the city. the beer, how could it be different, is the best one can wish. in general the decoration is beautiful, but it is somewhat neglected. but of course it is an old ship and more you cannot ask. desserts are excellent. a small reform would give him a little more character, but without changing the essence of the boat. first we looked at almost the entire ship in just two hours. the audioguide is nicely detailed, although sometimes the positions signs are not obvious. because the ship still drives would bother larger and also disturb. great additions of the team. After that we had booked the bbq. high above on the pool deck with sunshine and great views on the harbour. the bbq was very good and the look at the four masters of the Peruvian marine was the navy. it had arrived in the harbour the day before :-)

if they are interested in sending, this is a must. if they are not, it is still a very good experience at visiting hamburg. the price is about 10 eur and includes a digital guide via headphones. then they can round the largest part of the ship, including bridge, machine space and loading rooms, themselves. they can see and hear a lot of what it was like to be on the lake in the 1960s and 1970s when this ship ran like santos, bahia and rio. these were the times before the ship containers when the loading rooms were loaded by hand with hanging meat, banana boxes and coffee bags. a wonderful place!

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
