"Two things it is important to know about the place: First, the food is exquisite, marvelous, abundant. Second, this is not a restaurant where you can just drop by for a meal. It specializes in onsite catering for special events, so to eat here you generally must be part of a group that has booked the services. However, if you are staying at the Casolare dei Fiori agriturismo when some group has booked a dinner in one of the dining rooms, it is possible to share in the meal, either in your own room or at a separate table to the side. You just have to ask the proprietors to see if this can be arranged. I have eaten here four times while staying at the agriturismo, and each meal has been exceptional and memorable. Most recently I enjoyed the 2012 Easter pranzo, which I will attempt to describe. The food was never-ending and delicious. Aperitivi (before-meal drinks) were served outside, and once seated, we started with an antipasto plate with numerous types of crostini and salami, olives and a pickled onion, along with bread and fried pasta. Drinks were red and white wines from the renowned Montecarlo farms of this area. Also water and non-alcoholic fruit juices were available. Then not one but two primi piatti: risotto with asparagus and pappardelle al ragú. For the secondo, we had a contorno of fried potatoes and three types of meat: chicken, lamb and rabbit, all delicious. Next came a sampling of bistecca fiorentina, sliced and seasoned with aromatic herbs. The dessert, tiramisú, came with more choices of drinks, spumante and vinsanto. All this was followed by espresso and then after-meal liquors. Do be prepared for your meal to take at least two hours. This is Italian style dining, and since your meal is combined with a festa, there will be no hurry to move the courses along quickly. However, you could also order selectively from the day’s menu, asking for just a primo and secondo, or any kind of combination, for that matter, and the proprietors can arrange a custom price."
