Chez Fred - Menu

1.50 € for a long black coffee (Café Allonge) Great spot near the Gate (Porte Cailhou) and for people watching. Good way to spend half an hour. 1755.

We stopped in to Chez Fred's on a cold February afternoon for a beer & the girl behind the counter recommended Le Chouffe. That is the last thing we remember. Great stuff

We visited this bar a couple of times. When you enjoy your drink you can observe all the different people that cross the square. I like the fact that it is a local place where the french people comes. View menu

Great for people watching. Good selection of beers. The planche apéro is a must-have (14€). We were worried we had stumbled upon a tourist trap but were pleasantly surprised - the large portion made a very tasty lunch.

Stayed around the corner from Chez Fred for a couple of weeks recently. It was our regular breakfast stop. Great coffee/croissants/choclatines and excellent service from friendly staff. A great place to people watch in a lovely square

We were walking around Bordeaux late evening and called here for drinks. The service was quick and efficient and friendly! The beers were reasonably priced (unlike elsewhere in the city) and we sat outside at midnight watching the world pass by Great place! View menu

Simple French breakfast of baguette, butter, jam, juice, tea or coffee. Fresh wholesome bread that did not stick to your palette and that tasted really nice. The chocolate croissant was also nice. The breakfast menu did not have anything savoury such as eggs or ham.

We decided to sit a while as we had been walking around the old town for some time. this cafe has a great location, seating indoors and out but also providing some shade. We only stopped for a beer and to people watch. We passed the place a couple more times and it was always busy. Prompt service and a great place to people watch.

It's located opposite porte cailhau in a beautiful old Street with stainless steel pebble-like sculptures next to it, they have a good selection of beers, wines and liqueurs and it's quite a good sun trap in good weather. Others have mentioned the staff are quite indifferent...we found one was very aloof when she served us (no smile and minimal eye-contact), but the other was very friendly and made us laugh, so it's not really an issue.
