"I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years and it has always been my go-to choice for food and accommodation in Newtown. The restaurant meals and breakfast have consistently been amazing, and the staff has always been friendly and lovely. However, I regret to say that I will never stay or eat here again. The staff were abrupt and unwelcoming, and our room at the front of the hotel, opposite a noisy nightclub, was substandard and reminiscent of the 1970s. The furniture was mismatched and basic, and the room felt very cramped. The TV only had Japanese channels, and there was no terrestrial TV, only iPlayer. Despite the cleanliness of the room, the overall experience was disappointing. There was no food available at the hotel pub, which seemed odd, but after the terrible breakfast the next day, it was probably for the best. The breakfast was appalling - there were no glasses, butter, fruit juices, or cutlery without requesting them, and the waitress was disinterested and unapologetic. The set breakfast served on a plate could not be altered in any way, and the quality of the food was poor. We ended up leaving the hotel to find something else to eat in town. The breakfast room had a negative atmosphere, likely influenced by the waitress, and overall, it was a disappointing experience compared to previous visits. It's a shame, as the hotel and pub had been lovely on our previous stays."

This is a wonderful place with affordable prices. I highly recommend staying here. Kip, the bartender, was very friendly and suggested some fantastic drinks to try, which made the overall experience even more enjoyable.

Would.not rush back here. Room tidy and clean but small. Could reach the door from the bed! TV did not work beds very hard and streetlight outside window. Plenty of tea and coffee though. On whole room worn out but clean good bathroom. Breakfast poor choice. If you ask for the cooked you get what you are given even if you don't want it toast cold coffee stewed not even travel lodge standard.

Arrived for an overnight stay. Firstly the lift was broken which wasn't the end of the world. Staff were friendly. Room was dated with a couple of broken floor boards you could feel through the carpet and wall paper hanging off the ceiling. The TV didn't have any normal channels I.e. BBC or ITV. I had to link my amazon account to watch anything. Bed was comfortable and clean and a nice view of the river. Breakfast was served. And all of it was cold. Probably because the plate was also cold. Not the worst place I've been in but wouldn't come back. View menu

Despite booking the Christmas dinner months in advance and calling the hotel to inquire about vegan options, the experience was a disaster. I requested brown bread instead of white for the hummus and flatbread starter, which was accommodated. However, the waitresses were confused about the orders, resulting in a meager portion size with lettuce, a small amount of hummus, and a few pieces of flatbread. The main course, consisting of nut roast and roast potatoes, was served late after other meals had arrived. I was disappointed to see shared bowls of potatoes on the table, as I prefer not to eat vegetables that have been placed on meat plates. There was a lack of separate vegetables, vegan gra...

We arrived in Newtown mid morning on the 16th June. After viewing the river a local young lady with her grandson recommended we go in to the Elephant and Castle to have a drink and lunch. I walk with a mobility aid, a rollator and have an assistance dog who detects the level of my blood sugar on a constant basis. After finding that the beer garden was unaccessible to disabled people with mobility aids, We attempted to enter the front door to the lounge bar. On the second attempt, I went to the bar using my rollator to move, showed my assistance dog ID to the female bar staff member. She read the ID, Which clearly states that it is a right under the Equality Act of 2010 that we are not be ref...
