"Although we went on a major performance night, and there were a number of people enjoying a meal before the show, it didn't feel over crowded and we didn't have to wait long at all. The concept is great - you choose what you want and it is cooked in front of you, or you get a beeper which tells you when your meal is ready. One of us had pizza, which was thin, crispy and tasty. One had WOK vegetables with prawns and rice - very happy with that dish, and I had the Asparagi & Thaibasilico on Mafaldine pasta, with extra chilli and garlic - which was tasty and had a zing. Between the three of us, we had two glasses of wine, a large Coke and a bottle of sparkling water with the meal, and the total bill came to just over EUR50! GAST is a fun place to enjoy a well prepared, simple and tasty meal - it's not fine dining, so don't expect to get that. It's certainly worth a visit and you won't be disappointed if you relax and allow yourself to enjoy something just a bit different."

Service is good and so is coffee, beer and cocktails. Food average but as a total not bad at all. Outside tables are an asset to the place, so why not?

The "restaurant" is self service, the food is Italian Asian, but not really good, the wine was disappointing (which might be related to my expectations), yet, I was not really satisified. ,

I was here during the Munich Film Festival. The atmosphere was great. Despite the restaurant being packed, the food was prepared quickly, and after a number of meals here was consistently good... but the menu is limited because they cook it all fresh on-the-spot.

That is the best place to take a rest after overcrowded Munich historical center. The Terrassa located between/inside filarmonia and library building. So there is no wind. That is the perfect place to order meals and chill on the sun with a glass of wine. Inside the restaurant, there is a large area for playing with children.Tasty and big Panna Cota :)

Each time I visit Munich I eat here. The restaurant is located next to the Gasteig and just a couple of minutes walk from Rosenheimer Platz station. It's a self service style place where food is cooked freshly in front of you while you wait. There are three kitchens: Pasta, Pizza and Indonesian style ( mainly stir fries). There is also a wine/ beer bar and dessert counter. A chicken stir fry and a glass of wine costs €15. To be recommended.

This restaurant has become a regular feature of our visits to Munich's gastronomy. Ideally situated at the Gasteig, near Rosenheimer Platz (S-Bahn Stammstrecke), the atmosphere is casual and the choice of food is fairly basic with Pizza and Pasta but it is all freshly cooked with seating inside or out. Reasonable prices. There are occasional waits at peak times and some few members of the cooking staff need to understand that they are visible to the waiting public and behave accordingly.

The concept has been done better, basically a pasta and pizza bar where you line up and they cook what you want. In delivery I guess it’s OK if you know how it goes but there is no direction for first timers and the staff was not helpful at all.The food was average if I am being kind but we sat outside and enjoyed the location which made for a nice evening anyway. There are a ton of restaurants within blocks of here, I would give this one a pass. It’s OK to try and be fun, cool trendy but really it’s about the food which was comparable to Pizza Hut.

The location could not be better - right in the court of the huge culture complex Quiet and ideal to sit down and have a drink and chat. The self serving idea is not what I favor but is ok. The Italian food section seems to be the one with the best quality- the pizzas we had were great in taste and of good quality. The wok food was mushy and not spectacular in tasteThe seating area is comfortable- because of the self serving system, waiters should overlook the tables where customers ate and left more frequently as tables stay stainedtoo long .The toilets were not in clean condition too

Just got into town, staying next door at Hilton, wanted a small meal. Wandered around the area and found this place. We were totally lost with the concept and speak no German. Yet it was kind of fun and the staff helped us thru the process. Get a card when you walk in, to to the food station that serves what you want, and wait for it to be cooked. Not good was to get a water you had to go to the bar, and there they serve all liquids, alcohol, water, coffee, etc. Waited for a water. Food was ok, big portions for the cost. Warning for upcoming patrons, we were told they are closing 7/19/16 to remodel the kitchens, so ask ahead if they are open.
