"We stayed a night in the Lion d'Or, arriving late (2200h) when we were given a pleasant welcome by the manageress. The room was a little spartan, but spotlessly clean and no less than what you would expect in a Swiss country hotel for this...price. The bathroom was modern and also spotless. If I had to look for a criticism it is that 1. there was only one tooth glass, and 2. the pillows are huge and not very comfortable: so you can see that there's nothing much I can say against the place. The room looked out over the delightful Fribourg countryside, and was completely quiet. Rooms on the other side look over Romont's main street I don't know if they'd be as quiet. Breakfast was perfectly good, served by a friendly waitress: choice of tea, coffee, hot chocolate; croissants; bread; muesli; fresh fruit; boiled eggs; ham; butter and jams. The night, including breakfast, cost us CHF 130 for the double room. Not bad for Swiss prices. We left in the morning so didn't try the restaurant."

"Waiting 40 minutes for a half-charred, half-undercooked seafood and fish dish is really disappointing, especially one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. While the restaurant is almost empty and most of the customers are at dessert. Fake black olives, not the best quality of ingredients. When we send back the uncooked fish, we receive the passive aggressiveness of the owner, who instead of apologizing for a bad meal allows herself to blame the customers."
